Cecilia Kolbet
McCOOK -- Cecilia Laura Kolbet, 92, of McCook died March 31 at Community Hospital in McCook.
Services were on Friday at St. Ann's Catholic Church. The Rev. Robert Tucker officiated. Burial was in St. Ann's cemetery in rural Frontier County.
Carpenter-Breland Funeral Chapel of McCook was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested in her name.
Mrs. Kolbet was born on Aug. 10, 1905, in Phelps County, Kan., to Frank and Isabella (Brown) Schworer. She graduated from Orleans High School and attended St. Ursuline College at York.
She taught at rural schools in southwest Nebraska for three years.
She married
Charles Nicholas Kolbet on April 22, 1930, at Orleans. They lived on a farm in Hayes County. She moved to Culbertson in April 1983.
She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, the Altar Society, Hayes County Extension and 4-H clubs, the Culbertson Garden Club and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include six sons, Harold of Montrose, Colo., Allan of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Ken and Roger, both of Culbertson, Leon of Hayes Center and Floyd of Douglas, Wyo.; four daughters, Sister Rita Kolbet of Loup City, Loretta (Mrs. Junior) Niblock of Logan, Kan., Isabelle (Mrs. Ron) Harter of Elm Creek and Leona (Mrs. Chuck Sonday) Kolbet of Lincoln; 30 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Her husband died on April 12, 1983. She also was preceded in death by a son, Clifford Kolbet; a grandson; four brothers; and seven sisters.
Verna McTavish
Woodbine, Iowa -- Verna F. McTavish, 72, of Woodbine, Iowa, formerly of Wood River, died Tuesday, April 7, 1998, at Woodbine.
Services are pending with Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River.
Twylene Abbott
Twylene L. Abbott, 73, of Grand Island, formerly of Fairbury, died Thursday, April 2, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Traum Vance Gerdes Chapel in Fairbury with the Rev. Rick Kanoy officiating. Burial will be in the Fairbury Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Mrs. Abbott was born on Oct. 7, 1924, in Fairbury to Bill and Mary (Swartz) Weidenhaft.
She was a homemaker for many years.
Survivors include three sons, William Merrill of Lochbuie, Colo., Richard Merrill of Fairbury and Steve Thomas of Germany; and two sisters, Norma (Mrs. Wayne) Michels of Lincoln and Marion (Mrs. Galen) Phillips of Fairbury.
Homer Bruhn
Homer H. Bruhn, 84, of Grand Island died Monday, April 6, 1998, at his home.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church with the Rev. Joel Schroeder officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the church.
Mr. Bruhn was born on Nov. 25, 1913, in Hall County to Chris and Mary (Joehnck) Bruhn. He grew up in the Cairo area and was educated at District 42 School.
He married
Mae Reimers on Sept. 16, 1936, in Grand Island. The couple lived in the Cairo and Wood River area, where he farmed.
He enjoyed camping and fishing.
He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, the Eagles and the Platt-Duetsche Society.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Lee "Butch" Bruhn of Wood River; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Don Bruhn of Roswell, N.M.; and three sisters, Mary Dickson, Gayle Schwiegher and Joan Spiehs, all of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Dale, Wayne and Kenneth; and three sisters, Edna Maier, Hazel Day and Laura Claussen.
Thomas Roberts
Thomas O. Roberts, 37, of 117 S. Greenwich was found dead on Sunday, April 5, 1998, at his home.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Phillips Cemetery. The Rev. Richard Brian will officiate. There will be no visitation.
Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Roberts was born on April 2, 1961, in Aurora to Wilbur and Ramona (Dunham) Roberts. He graduated from Aurora High School in 1979. He served in the U.S. Army from 1981 to 1987. He received his basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., and served in Germany, Korea and Honduras.
He had worked at MRL Construction and Cornhusker Rail Car. He had been a security guard at Monfort and Iams. At the time of his death, he was employed at Skagway South.
He had been baptized at the United Methodist Church in Phillips. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and working on his truck.
Survivors include his parents, of Grand Island; four brothers, Robert L. Roberts, Brad L. Roberts and Bryan L. Roberts, all of Grand Island, and Tim L. Roberts of Central City; and one sister, Laurie J. VanLaningham of Henderson.
Eugene Salazar III
Eugene Salazar III, 41, of Grand Island died Saturday, April 4, 1998, at his home.
Services will be at 9:45 a.m., followed by a Mass at 10 a.m., Wednesday at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Hastings. Monsignor John J. McCabe will officiate. Burial with military rites will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Hastings.
Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Salazar was born on June 24, 1956, in Hastings to Eugene Jr. and Jacqueline (Ross) Salazar. He graduated from Hastings High School and attended Central Community College. He served in the U.S. Air Force and Army. He was a lifelong area resident.
Survivors include his parents, of Hastings; two sisters, Penni Jean Holdiman and Cindi Sue Salazar, both of Hastings; and his grandmother, Harriet Salazar of Oak Lawn, Ill.
He was preceded in death by one infant brother and three grandparents.
'C.J.' Adams
DONIPHAN -- Christopher Jeffrey "C.J." Adams, 19, of Doniphan died Sunday, April 5, 1998, in a car/train collision near Hastings.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Doniphan. The Rev. Bill Hunter will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery at Rosedale.
Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Brand-Wilson Funeral Home in Hastings.

Mr. Adams was born on Dec. 19, 1978, at Doniphan to Jeffrey and Jamie (Thein) Adams. He graduated from Doniphan High School in 1997. He served as FCCLA president his senior year, was on the weightlifting team and was a member of the Doniphan United Methodist Youth Group.
He worked at McDonald's in Hastings and attended Central Community College in Hastings.
He was engaged to marry Megan Flanigan of Hastings.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Jeff and Julie Adams of Doniphan; his stepfather and mother, Bob and Jamie (Thein) Lewis of Henderson, N.C.; grandparents, Clayton Robb, JoAnne Adams and Doris and Ron Seevers, all of Doniphan, Louise Seevers of Anselmo, Larry and Helen Lewis of Rapid City, S.D., and Marvin and Joanne Rogers of Hordville.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Bill Thein and Marion "Dent" Adams.
