Patricia Leonard

GIBBON -- Patricia L. Leonard, 66, of Gibbon died Tuesday, March 17, 1998, at her home.

Services are pending with Godberson Mortuary of Gibbon.

Paul Murray

ARCADIA -- Paul Murray, 86, of Arcadia died Saturday, March 14, 1998, at the Rose Lane Home in Loup City.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City. The Rev. Reginald A. Urban will officiate. Burial will be in Lee Park cemetery west of Arcadia.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m., with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m., Thursday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the Arcadia Rescue Unit.

Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Murray was born on June 17, 1911, in the Lee Park area of Custer County to Patrick and Kathryn (Fagen) Murray. He grew up west of Arcadia in the Lee Park area and attended country schools.

He married Gladys Luedtke on Oct. 22, 1935, in Grand Island. He worked in general construction and also worked as a farm hand in Greeley, Oakland and Iowa.

He moved to Arcadia in 1967 and continued to work in construction and as a farm hand. He retired in 1977 and lived at the Arcadia Manor. He moved to the Rose Lane Home at Loup City in 1992.

Survivors include four daughters, Carol Hatt of Grand Island, Rae Jean Zauha of Omaha, Connie Ross of Sanford, Fla., and Diana Hurlburt of Burwell; two sons, Edwin Murray of Loup City and Pat Murray of King City, Calif.; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Vera Lybarger of Arcadia; and two brothers, James Murray of Geneva and Robert Murray of Arizona.

He was preceded in death by two grandsons; two brothers, Earl Murray and Bill Murray; and one sister, Josephine Whitehead.

Cecile Maupin

MERNA -- Cecile Bernice Maupin, 89, of Lakewood, Colo., formerly of Merna, died Monday, March 16, 1998, at Lutheran Hospital in Wheatridge, Colo.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow. The Rev. Steve Hicks will officiate. Burial will be in the Merna Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.

Mrs. Maupin was born on Dec. 23, 1908, in the Cliff community in Custer County to Robert Milton and Rosa Ellen (Butler) Seevers. She attended Fairview District 241 School and graduated from Merna High School in 1931.

She married Elza Maupin on Nov. 13, 1934, at Merna. They lived in Colorado and Oregon before returning to Nebraska. They farmed and also owned the filling station in Merna. Mr. Maupin died on March 23, 1978. Mrs. Maupin had recently been living in Lakewood, Colo., to be near her daughter.

Survivors include one daughter, Valda (Mrs. Marion) Summervill of Lakewood, Colo.; two grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three step grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ada Farnham of Anaheim, Calif.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Ramona; eight brothers, twins, Walter and Waldo, and Kenneth, Guy, Robert, Frank, Lewis and Bill; and three sisters, Bly Beardsley, Tava Belson and Ina Embree.

Viola Stump

Viola Clara Methilda Stump, 84, of 1421 N. Cherry died Monday, March 16, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.

Services will be at 2 p.m., with a family prayer service at 1:45 p.m., Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Robert Harms will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the church.

Donald Bydalek

LOUP CITY -- Donald J. Bydalek, 66, of Loup City died Monday, March 16, 1998, at the Grand Island Veterans Home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City with the Rev. Reggie Urban officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis' Catholic cemetery at Ashton with graveside military honors by American Legion Post 48 of Loup City.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m., with a 5 p.m. vigil service, Wednesday at Peters Funeral Home in Loup City.

Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.

Mr. Bydalek was born on June 28, 1931, on a farm south of Ashton to Cyrus and Clara (Nowicki) Bydalek. He grew up on the family farm and was educated in Sherman County rural schools and at St. Francis' Parochial School in Ashton.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from August 1952 to August 1954.

He married Darlene Hagedorn in February 1955 at Ashton. He farmed in rural Sherman County and later worked in Omaha at various jobs for a number of years. He then returned to Sherman County.

He had been a resident of the Grand Island Veterans Home for eight years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was a member of St. Josaphat's Catholic Church and American Legion Post 48, both in Loup City.

Survivors include one son, Larry of California; two brothers, Jerry Bydalek of Franklin and Jack Bydalek of Grand Island; and three sisters, Elaine (Mrs. James) Maciejewski of Loup City, Jane (Mrs. Larry) Tuscany of Roseville, Mich., and Betty (Mrs. Boyd) Leonhardt of Fairbury.

James Moon

RAVENNA -- James H. Moon, 78, of Ravenna died Saturday, March 14, 1998, at the Good Samaritan Center in Ravenna.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ravenna. The Rev. Steven Schlund will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park cemetery in Grand Island.

Visitation will be prior to services Tuesday at the church.

Rasmussen Mortuary of Ravenna is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Moon was born on April 18, 1919, at Sterling, Colo., to Jesse A. and Mary E. (Beebe) Moon. He was a graduate of Fullerton High School.

He married Pauline May Voss on June 26, 1938, at Lexington. He was district manager for Forne Arc Welders for 25 years. They moved to Wellington, Colo., and owned and operated a grocery store for 13 years.

They then moved to Grand Island, where he was supervisor of Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. They retired to Ravenna in 1989.

He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ravenna.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Jerald of Longmont, Colo.; and one grandson.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Arden and Jessie.
