Lillian Petersen
ST. PAUL -- Lillian L. Petersen, 92, of St. Paul died Sunday, March 15, 1998, at the Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in St. Paul with the Rev. Larry Lepper officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery in St. Paul.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Paul Elementary School Library.
Mrs. Petersen was born on Jan. 7, 1906, near Dannebrog to Henry and Dorothea (Lemburg) Boll. She was educated at District 8 School near Dannebrog, graduated from St. Paul High School and attended teachers college at Kearney and Hastings. She taught school in the Cleveland District near Dannebrog and also taught near Nysted for two years.
She married
Roland Petersen on Aug. 19, 1934, near Nysted. The couple moved to Burns, Ore., where she worked for J.C. Penney Co. She also worked for the company in Santa Monica, Calif., and San Francisco until her retirement in 1972. The couple moved back to St. Paul in 1972. Her husband died on March 22, 1995.
Her hobbies were planting flower and vegetables gardens, sewing and learning to paint China.
She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
Survivors include one sister, Martha (Mrs. Lynn) Reynolds of Garden Grove, Calif.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Edmund Boll; and two sisters, Anna Andersen and Elnora Rohman.
Virginia Winslow
KEARNEY -- Virginia A. Winslow, 75, of Kearney died Sunday, March 15, 1998, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Kearney. The Rev. William Deahl will officiate. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Wumner Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary in Kearney.
Memorials are suggested to the Good Samaritan Hospital Hospice Fund or the church.
Mrs. Winslow was born on Dec. 22, 1922, in Sumner to Floyd and Frances (Searl) Potter. She grew up in Sumner and graduated from Sumner High School.
She married
Carl W. Snurr on July 21, 1940. She worked at the Security State Bank in Sumner. She moved to Jeffrey City, Wyo., and worked as postmistress. Mr. Snurr died on April 20, 1973.
She moved to Kearney in 1974, worked at Redmond's Shoe Store and then at Baldwin Filters until retiring.
She married
Maynard J. Winslow on Jan. 31, 1981, in Kearney. He died on April 7, 1997.
Mrs. Winslow was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kearney and the church circle, the Evening Belles Friendship Club and the Stonecraft Bible Study Club. She enjoyed volunteer work and playing cards.
Survivors include one son, Jerry Snurr of Broken Bow; one daughter, Vicky Produit of Casper, Wyo.; one stepson, Dale Winslow of Benton, Ark.; one stepdaughter, Linda Furby of Bourbonnais, Ill.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four step grandchildren; one brother, Eugene Potter of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and four half brothers, Mike Potter and Robert Potter, both of Omaha, Charles Potter of St. Joseph, Minn., and Arthur Potter of Indianapolis.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by an infant son.
Ronald Breiner
FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Ronald "Ron" Breiner, 61, of Fort Collins, Colo., died Friday, March 13, 1998, in Poudre Valley Hospital at Fort Collins.
Services were on Sunday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Fort Collins. The Rev. Maggi Pleiss-Sippola officiated.
Additional services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hastings. The Rev. Harold D. Stromer will officiate. Burial will be in Parkview cemetery at Hastings.
Memorials are suggested to Our Savior's Lutheran Church or Colorado State University Veterinarian Hospital, both in Fort Collins.
Butler-Volland Funeral Home of Hastings and Allnutt Funeral Home of Fort Collins are in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Breiner was born on March 11, 1937, in Grand Island to Gerald and Amelia (Kasparie) Breiner. He graduated from Palmer High School.
He married
Beverly Harms on March 6, 1966, in Grand Island. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was a plumbing inspector in Grand Island from 1967 to 1987. He moved to Fort Collins in 1989 and worked in facility services at Colorado State University.
He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Fort Collins and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Scott Breiner of Lincoln; one daughter, Sheryl Freeman of Lincoln; three grandchildren; and one brother, John Breiner of Los Angeles.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, his parents and his stepfather.
Bud Brickner
Bud T. Brickner, 83, of Grand Island died Saturday, March 14, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. C. Roger Nelson officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday with a Masonic graveside service at the Ord Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home with a 7 p.m. Odd Fellows service.
Memorials are suggested to the Arthritis Foundation or American Heart Association.
Mr. Brickner was born on Oct. 23, 1914, at Ord to Benjamin "Sam" and Abbie (Wagner) Brickner. He grew up and attended school in Ord, graduating from Ord High School in 1931. He worked in road construction for a short time.
He married
Ella Etta Welch on Aug. 7, 1937, in Denver. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad in Wyoming until 1953, then farmed at Ord until retiring in March 1973. The couple moved to North Platte, where they lived until she died in 1991. He moved to Grand Island in the spring of 1995.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Grand Island; Odd Fellows Lodges in North Platte, Ord and Grand Island; and Masons in Ord and North Platte.
Survivors include three sons, John Brickner of Grand Island, Dr. Tom Brickner of Aurora, Colo., and Bruce Brickner of Omaha; one daughter, Leah (Mrs. Jeff) Begalle of Lafayette, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Twila Stroud of Kearney, DeEtta "Dickey" Kibbon of Blair and Greta Bogert of Lompoc, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
Jason Gray
SILVER CREEK -- Jason E. Gray, 73, of Silver Creek died Saturday, March 14, 1998, at Litzenberg Memorial Hospital in Central City.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Silver Creek with the Rev. Larry Biederman officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Silver Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at McKown Funeral Home in Silver Creek and from 1 p.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.
Mr. Gray was born on March 26, 1924, in York County to Arthur and Stella (Rhoads) Gray. He received his education at York County schools and Polk High School. He served in the Army during World War II.
He married
Audrey Hansen on Aug. 4, 1946, at Cordova. Following the war, he worked for York County driving a maintainer. He later worked at the co-op in Cordova before moving to Silver Creek in 1960. He worked for the co-op in Silver Creek and also at Grosch Irrigation before retiring in 1986.
He was a member of United Methodist Church and the American Legion in Silver Creek. He was a Silver Creek volunteer fireman, an avid bowler and enjoyed gardening and baseball.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Philip of Hooper, Dennis of Polk, Darrol of Shelby and Terry of Silver Creek; two daughters, Carol Alexander and Donna (Mrs. Scott) Alexander, both of Silver Creek; one sister, Inis (Mrs. Maynard) Schrader of York; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and an infant granddaughter.
