Mildred Nordeen
St. Edward -- Mildred Evelyn Nordeen, 78, of St. Edward died Wednesday, March 11, 1998, at the Boone County Health Center in Albion.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Edward's Catholic Church. The Revs. Larry Stoley and Edward Gill will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery in St. Edward.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Miller-Levander Funeral Home in St. Edward is in charge of arrangements.
George Reyner
MARQUETTE -- George Reyner, 65, of Marquette died Wednesday, March 11, 1998, at his home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Solt Funeral Home in Central City. The Rev. Joe Scahill will officiate. Burial will be in Richland cemetery near Marquette.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Reyner was born on July 7, 1932, on the family farm in Hamilton County to Harvey George and Stella Vieve (Power) Reyner. He attended Poky Hootle Rural School in Hamilton County and Central City High School.
He worked in Oregon for a short time.
He married
Letha Marie Page on April 6, 1952, at the First Baptist Church in Grand Island. They lived for about a year in New Mexico and Arizona. They returned to the Reyner farm, where he lived until his death.
Mr. Reyner worked for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service office in Hamilton County for five years, worked with C.B. Dickinson Construction until 1983 and then farmed the home place until he was forced to retire in 1995 because of ill health. Mrs. Reyner died on Dec. 23, 1997.
Mr. Reyner enjoyed deer hunting and spending time on their farm along the Platte River.
Survivors include three sons, Greg, Earl and Levi Reyner, all of Marquette; four daughters, Jana White, June Brophy and Jill (Mrs. Charles) Cadwallader, all of Marquette, and Jody (Mrs. Gerald) Carpenter of Dunning; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Harvey Kenneth Reyner of Grand Island.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
Alexander Nixon
LINCOLN -- Alexander Avery Nixon, infant son of Matthew W. and Susan D. Nixon of Lincoln, died Wednesday, March 11, 1998, in Lincoln.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 O St., Lincoln. The Rev. F. Matthew Fowler will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park Babyland.
Visitation will be until service time Saturday at the mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
He was born March 7, 1998, in Lincoln.
Survivors include his parents; grandparents, Jan and Denise Shoemaker of Central City and John and Edith Nixon of Palmyra; a great-grandmother, Juanita Foster of Central City; a great-grandfather, Everett Walker of Welsh, Okla.; and great-great-grandparents, Quinton and Buchla Dunbar of Kettle Falls, Wash.
Wilma Golus
ADVANCE, N.C. -- Wilma Beth Portis Golus, 70, of Advance, N.C., died Thursday, March 12, 1998, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel in Winston-Salem, N.C. The Rev. Robert S. Jeffords Sr. will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Golus was born on May 3, 1927, in North Loup to Ross and Elma Muligan Portis.
Survivors include three sons, Dennis Golus of Advance, David Golus of Newman Lake, Wash., and Rick Golus of Dubuque, Iowa; three daughters, Mary Merritt of Winston-Salem and Cathy Huster and Terri Golus, both of St. Louis; three grandchildren; and one sister, Shirley Pyzant of Schuyler.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest John Golus; and a son, Gary Golus.
Robert Johnson
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Robert Lee Johnson, 70, of Colorado Springs, Colo., died March 4, 1998, after a lengthy illness.
Services were on March 7 at Memorial Gardens Chapel. Burial was in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Johnson was born on Dec. 11, 1927, in Maxwell to N.W. "Swede" and Louella (Steve) Johnson. He grew up and attended school in Grand Island. He served in the Army Air Corps.
He married
Joan Hardnock in 1950 at Grand Island. They moved to Colorado Springs in 1956. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for many years until retiring due to ill health. He was a private airplane pilot and enjoyed building and flying model airplanes.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Michael, Daniel and David, all of Colorado; a daughter, Judy Oettinger of Colorado; nine grandchildren; and a sister, Jean Steiner of Grand Island.
George Horky
George W. Horky, 84, of 3119 W. Faidley Ave. Apt. 505 died Wednesday, March 11, 1998, at Tiffany Square Care Center.
Private graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Kleine Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Horky was born on March 20, 1913, at Spencer to Vince C. and Anna F. (Karel) Horky. He grew up and was educated in Butte.
He farmed until 1942 and then worked with the Nebraska Tuberculosis Hospital at Kearney until 1972. He then worked with the Grand Island Veterans Home until 1974, when he retired.
There are no survivors.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Viola Petty
Viola "Vi" L. Petty, 89, of Grand Island died Wednesday, March 11, 1998, at Lakeview Rehab/Nursing Center.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Gollaher Chapel at Trinity United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jim Keyser will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m., Friday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Petty was born on June 2, 1908, at Oakland to Joseph and Anna (Benson) Chore. She grew up and was educated at Oakland. She graduated at Bristow.
She married
Maurice Petty on June 2, 1926, in South Dakota. The couple lived in Norfolk, Madison, Lincoln and Hastings before moving to Grand Island in 1948.
She was self-employed as a beauty operator from 1955 to 1967. Mr. Petty died in 1967. Mrs. Petty began working for Skagway as a clerk in 1967 and retired from there in 1980.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, PTA and Foster Grandparents. She was a Head Start volunteer.
Survivors include one daughter, Lois Whitefoot of Grand Island; one son, Donald Petty of Gainsville, Fla.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Eleanor Peters and Nola Jean Newsham, both of Lincoln.
She was preceded in death by a grandchild and a sister.

Miss Nordeen was born on Nov. 16, 1919, to Oliver and Hazel (Apple) Nordeen. She attended Boone County District 66 School and St. Edward High School.
Following her schooling, Miss Nordeen moved to Omaha, where she worked taking care of a family and also at Western Electric for six years. In 1941, she moved to Salinas, Calif., where she worked as a hostess and waitress at a local steak house until she retired in 1978.
She moved back to Schuyler in 1997 to live with her sister Shirley. She moved into the Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward in August 1997.
She was a member of the Elks Club in California and St. Edward's Catholic Church.
Survivors include three sisters, Shirley (Mrs. Adam) Torson of Schuyler, Pat (Mrs. Pete) Carnahan of Fremont and Lois (Mrs. Irvin) Johnson of Grandview, Wash.; and two brothers Robert of Lawton, Okla., and Max of St. Edward.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Glen, Richard, Donald and Duane; and a special friend, O.J. "Jim" Daniels.
