Elnora Rohman
ST. PAUL -- Elnora Rohman, 87, of St. Paul died Wednesday, March 11, 1998, at the Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in St. Paul. Ellen Campbell will officiate. Eastern Star rites will be conducted by Andrew Chapter 21 at the church. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery at St. Paul.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul. The casket will be closed.
Memorials are suggested to the church or the Howard County Historical Society.
Mrs. Rohman was born on Jan. 11, 1911, at St. Paul to Henry and Dorothea (Lemburg) Boll. She was educated at St. Paul and graduated from St. Paul High School. She then attended Nicholas Senn School of Nursing in Omaha.
She married
Dallas Rohman on Oct. 31, 1931, in Omaha. They lived on a farm west of St. Paul throughout their marriage. She worked at the hospital in St. Paul for 37 years.
Mr. Rohman died on Nov. 9, 1977. Mrs. Rohman remained on the family farm. She had lived with her three daughters at various times over the last four years.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in St. Paul; Order of the Eastern Star Andrew Chapter 21 in Grand Island, which she served as past worthy matron; the St. Paul Art Guild; Grand Island China Painters, state and world china painters; and the Howard County Historical Society. She was a charter member of the Hearth and Home Club, chairwoman of Howard County Extension Clubs and district chairwoman of her church circle.
Survivors include three daughters, Joyce (Mrs. Donald) Helsley of Quincy, Wash., Janet (Mrs. Gerald) Hruza of St. Paul and Virginia (Mrs. Robert) Moraczewski of Wyoming, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lillian Petersen of St. Paul and Martha (Mrs. Lynn) Reynolds of Garden Grove, Calif.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Edmund Boll; and one sister, Ann Andersen.
Hazel Wagner
GREELEY -- Hazel Wagner, 104, of Greeley, formerly of Wolbach, died Wednesday, March 11, 1998, at the Greeley Care Home.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. March 21 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wolbach. The Rev. Marsha Jark-Swain will officiate. Mrs. Wagner was cremated.
Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
Mrs. Wagner was born on Jan. 23, 1894, in Nance County. She graduated from Cedar Rapids High School in 1913. She taught at District 23 School in Howard County.
She married
Emmet Wagner on Jan. 5, 1916.
She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Phyllis Hansen of Lincoln; and 10 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two daughters, Maxine and Vergene; and one granddaughter.
Clarence Swisher
OVERTON -- Clarence Melvin Swisher, 78, of Overton, formerly of Halsey, died Wednesday, March 11, 1998, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the United Church of Christ in Halsey. The Rev. Linda Martin will officiate. Burial will be in the Purdum Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Swisher was born on June 11, 1919, in Halsey to Lewis and Mary (Ott) Swisher. He lived in the Halsey area until moving in 1990 to Overton, where he lived with his sister Ida.
Later, he lived at the Homestay Village in Overton. He was hospitalized in January and then became a resident of the Plum Creek Nursing Home in Lexington.
Survivors include three brothers, Lennard, Charles and Francis, all of Halsey; and two sisters, Caroline (Mrs. Chester) Harden of Miller and Ida Mae (Mrs. Howard) Snider of Overton.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lewis, Cecil and Bernard; and one sister, Mary Moheng.
Phyllis Greving
Phyllis Onilee Greving, 87, of Grand Island, formerly of Central City, died Tuesday, March 10, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Presbyterian Church in Central City. The Rev. Dale Sallans will officiate.
Solt Funeral Home of Central City is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the church.
Mrs. Greving was born on April 17, 1910, in Merrick County to Edmund E. and Anna M. (Caldwell) Smith. She attended District 48 School in Merrick County and graduated from Central City High School in 1927.
She taught at rural schools in Merrick County and then continued her education at Nebraska Central College. After completing her teaching credentials, she taught at Cedar Rapids.
She married
Dr. Henry F. Greving in 1933, and they lived in Central City. After their retirement in 1976, they moved to Green Valley, Ariz. They returned to Nebraska to live in Grand Island in February 1998.
Mrs. Greving was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church in Central City, had served as Sunday school superintendent for many years and was also an elder. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star Arbor Lodge in Central City, the American Legion Auxiliary and a 50-year member of Round Table and the SOS Club. She belonged to bridge clubs and the LS Group and had achieved the level of master duplication bridge player. She was one of the earliest members of the Merrick Foundation and was instrumental in Merrick Manor and the Presbyterian Manse.
She liked to entertain in her home and work with young people.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Jeanne (Mrs. J.C.) Hauserman of Auburn and Gwynne (Mrs. Bob) Kuhn of Grand Island; a guardian daughter, Lana Johnson (Mrs. Mike) Hall and two children of Nebraska City; five grandchildren; one guardian grandson; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Oliver (Mrs. Bette) Smith of Hastings.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Rosina Floy McKenzie.
Thomas Kluska
Thomas Kluska, 78, of 432 E. Dodge died Tuesday, March 10, 1998, at Community Care of America in Grand Island.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bedene Funeral Home in Arma, Kan. The Rev. Steve Cole will officiate. Burial will be in the Englevale/Fairview cemetery at Englevale, Kan.
Local visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Kleine Funeral Home. Further visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time Saturday at Bedene Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the family.
Mr. Kluska was born on July 11, 1919, at Girard, Kan., to John and Mary (Elnicki) Kluska. He grew up in that area and graduated from Girard High School in 1937.
He joined the U.S. Army at the beginning of World War II and served 42 months in the South Pacific as an aide and courier for Gen. Douglas MacArthur.
He married
Nadine Bush on April 27, 1946, at St. Maryis, Kan. They lived in Mitchell and Scottsbluff before moving to Lincoln in 1957. Mr. Kluska worked for the University of Nebraska as an auditor in the Forestry, Fisheries and Wildlife Division. He retired in 1984 after working for the university for 37 years.
Due to failing health, he and his wife moved to Grand Island in 1995 to be nearer his family.
Mr. Kluskais favorite activities were fishing, hunting, gardening and bowling. During his later years, he won several local and state bowling championships in the seniors division. He served as secretary of the University of Nebraska Faculty Bowling League for 31 years.
Survivors include his wife; one son, John of Grand Island; two grandsons; one great-grandson; and one sister, Helen Patton of Pittsburg, Kan.
He was preceded in death by one son, Joel; and two brothers, Charles and Frank.
Claude Terrill
Claude L. Terrill, 80, of Grand Island died Tuesday, March 10, 1998, at Tiffany Square Care Center.
Graveside services will be at a later date at Fort McPherson National cemetery in Maxwell. There will be no visitation. Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to Tiffany Square Care Center.
Mr. Terrill was born on Feb. 14, 1918, at Goehner to John and Margaret (McCormick) Terrill. He grew up and was educated at Exeter and graduated from Exeter High School in 1936. He entered the U.S. Army on April 28, 1941, served in New Guinea and Australia and was discharged as a tec 4 on Aug. 27, 1945.
He married
Sybil Reed on Dec. 31, 1945, at Belleville, Kan. The couple lived in Grand Island, where he worked as a automotive parts salesman for Red Rooster Sales until retiring in 1972. Mrs. Terrill died in 1993, and Mr. Terrill moved to Alamo, Texas, that same year. He returned to Grand Island in 1997.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the American Legion, the Masonic Lodge and the Sertoma Club.
Survivors include two brothers, Ray Terrill of Grand Island and Robert Terrill of Crete; four sisters, Helen (Mrs. Lloyd) Lutz of Fort Morgan, Colo., Shirley Starr of Fairmont, Bonnie (Mrs. Mervil) Bahe of Topeka, Kan., and Nettie Marie Terrill of Crete; and a special friend, Virginia Ingram of San Antonio.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Saum; and a brother, Frank Terrill.
