OSMOND - Services for W. Bertel Olson, 87, of Osmond will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church here with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery at Wausa and military rites by VFW Post 7838 and American Legion Post 326. The Rev. Larry Hall will officiate. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday at Stonacek Memorial Chapel in Osmond.
He died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011, at Plainview Manor.
He was born Nov. 29, 1923, at Wausa to Peter and Alma (Lundgren) Olson. He graduated from Wausa High School in 1941 and Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, Ill., in 1948.
He was married to Arlene Salley Poole Dec. 16, 1945, at Beatrice. The couple farmed in the Wausa area until 1976. They moved to Osmond in 1977. Bert worked at Petersen Ag Systems Inc. He then drove a propane truck for Carlson Home and Auto for 10 years. He was a resident of the Plainview Manor since 2004.
He served in the Korean police action, in Army communications, and enlisted May 29, 1946, and was discharged June 20, 1947.
He was a member of United Methodist Church, Osmond, and American Legion and VFW, Osmond.
Survivors are six daughters, Pam Boshart of Lincoln, Janet and husband Robin Goracke of Lincoln, Dianne Prochaska of Athol, Idaho, Debra and husband John Hightree of Concord, Teresa Olson of Norfolk, Beth Nava of Norfolk; two sons, Mike and wife Mary Lou Olson of Osmond, Jim and wife Marcia Olson of Afton, Minn.; 20 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Joyce Logsdon of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; one brother, Weldon and wife Ruth Olson of Winner, S.D.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Salley May 22, 2001, daughter Anita Olson, two brothers, Gordon and Frank “Bud” Olson, and son-in-law Jim Boshart.
Organist will be Charlotte Kiichler.
Casket bearers will be Nick Olson, Scott Jurgensmeier, Brian Kesting, Greg Rastede, Brian Gould, Nic Wegener.

Susan Ann Page was born June 10, 1962, at Paris, France, to Robert and Lieselotte (Blaschewitz) Page.
Survivors include special friend and guardian, Vickie Droescher of Norfolk; two aunts, Erna Stilger of Berlin, Germany, and Frieda Buchner of Seebach, Germany; one uncle, Walter Blaschewitz of Keil, Germany; one sister-in-law, Louise Fisette of Hadar.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Walter Page.
Soloist will be Dorthalie Walmsley and organist Dottie Ahlers with congregational hymn, “Children of the Heavenly Father.”
Casket bearers are Scott Sommerfeld, Zach Sommerfeld and William Goodpasture. Honorary casket bearers are William Greenough and Justin Sommerfeld.
Services for Susan A. Page, 48, of Norfolk will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Stonacek Funeral Chapel here with burial in Zion Lutheran Cemetery at Pierce. Visitation will start at 10 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Adrian Hanft will officiate.
She died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, at Faith Regional Health Services.
Florence Lemm
d. January 21, 2011
Florence Gesina Lemm was born March 11, 1923, at Pilger, the daughter of George and Rosa (Blackwel) Buhrman. She attended a Pilger country school through eighth grade.
She was baptized in the Lutheran faith on Dec. 17, 1923, and confirmed in the Lutheran faith on May 16, 1937. She and Dennis Edward Lemm were married on Aug. 25, 1940, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Beemer.
After their marriage until 1954, the couple worked on various farms around Cuming County.
In 1960, they sold the farm located south of Norfolk they purchased six years earlier and moved into town.
Florence worked at several dry cleaners, Woolworth’s and Gibson’s. She also worked at Lynn & Sons’ west store at the cafe lunch counter until retiring in 1995. Florence enjoyed keeping busy and doing chores for exercise.
She loved to walk through Norfolk, handling her errands. She was a wonderful cook and kept an immaculate green lawn. Florence would say that “You must earn what you get.”
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.
Survivors include son Dale Lemm and wife Catherine of Norfolk; three grandsons, Darold and wife Lisa Lemm, Tony Lemm and Brian Lemm, all of Norfolk; one great-granddaughter, Joselyn Lemm; three stepgreat-grandsons, Tyler Heiderman, Ryan Hoffie and Zach Hoffie, all of Norfolk; one sister, Christine Peters of Henry; three brothers, Raymond and wife Judy Buhrman of Fremont, Leland and wife Marjorie Buhrman of Fremont, and Marvin and wife Evelyn Buhrman of Wisner.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Dennis; four siblings, Arlene Fuller, Norma Buhrman, Harold Buhrman and Clarence Buhrman; and grandson Christopher Buhrman.
The organist will be Starla Landkamer with congregational hymns “Lord of All Hopefulness,” “Jesus Lives the Victory Is Won,” “The Only Son From Heaven” and “The King Shall Come.”
Casket bearers will be Darold Lemm, Tony Lemm, Brian Lemm, Joselyn Lemm, Tyler Heiderman, Ryan Hoffie and Zach Hoffie.
Services for Florence G. Lemm, 87, of Norfolk will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Christ Lutheran Church. The Rev. Chip Winter will officiate with burial in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Stonacek Funeral Chapel. She died Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, at St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation and Care Center.
Leona Haave
d. January 16, 2011
Leona E. Haave was born June 22, 1930, in rural Petersburg to Bert and Louise (Hernes) Kvamme. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith and attended District 88 at Closter and Albion High School.
She married Gayl Haave on March 12, 1949, at South Branch Lutheran Church, rural Albion. They farmed in Illinois and Pierce and Madison counties for 40 years. While they farmed in the Newman Grove area, she worked at Mid Nebraska Lutheran Home, Newman Grove, for seven years. They moved to Norfolk in 1982, and Leona worked at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home for seven years.
She enjoyed knitting, cooking and her Norwegian heritage and country music. They had a family band called The Haave 4 that played throughout Northeast Nebraska and the Nebraska Land Days.
She was a member of First Congregational United Church Of Christ, Norfolk.
Survivors include husband Gayl Haave of Norfolk; six children, Janeen and husband John Scheurich of Hoskins, Randy Haave of LaVista, Kathie and husband Bill Short of Norfolk, Rick and wife Jill Haave of Lincoln, Lisa and husband James Aschoff of Milford, Scott and wife Julie Haave of Papillion; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Roger; one daughter, Lori; one grandson, Kasey; three brothers, Arthur, Alf and Bernard; three sisters, Christine, Lois and Agnes.
Organist will be Kathy Nelson with congregational hymns, “Old Rugged Cross,” “Amazing Grace,” “How Great Thou Art.”
Casket bearers are James Aschoff, Aaron Haave, Chris Haave, Mathew Haave, John Scheurich and Bill Short.
Services for Leona E. Haave, 80, of Norfolk will be at Immanuel Zion Lutheran Church here at 2 p.m. Friday with burial in North Branch Cemetery at Petersburg. The Rev. Mike Kern will officiate. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk.
She died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, at a Lincoln hospital.
James R. Long
d. January 11, 2011
James “Jim” R. Long was born April 10, 1947, at Norfolk to Kenneth and Frieda (Wollin) Long. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and attended school to the eleventh grade at Norfolk.
He served in the Navy from Dec. 29, 1966, to Dec. 29, 1970. After his honorable discharge from the Navy in 1970, Jim lived in Schuyler for several years with his first wife and kids. Jim worked at the meat packing plant in Schuyler. He also owned several small businesses throughout his life. Jim enjoyed woodworking, sports and crossword puzzles.
Jim married his second wife, Patty (Grubbs) Long, and moved to Missouri, where they lived for 20 years. He worked for Brown Shoe factory in Missouri.
Survivors include two sons, Travis Long of Iowa and Tony and wife Misty Long of Missouri; four siblings, Lin and husband Al Gross of Norfolk, Allen and wife Reggie Long of Norfolk, Denny and wife Cheryl Long of Norfolk and Beverly Long of Norfolk; and many grandkids.
He was preceded in death by parents, wife Patty Long, son Troy Long and brother Virgil Long.
James R. Long, 63, of Norfolk died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, at the Golden Living Center.
Memorial service will be at Stonacek Funeral Chapel with visitation from 10 a.m. to noon Friday. Private family inurnment will be at East Prairie, Mo., at a later date.
Eldorna M. Wiese
d. January 1, 2011
Eldorna Mary Wiese was born March 24, 1922, in rural Clarkson to Gustav and Anna (Simeral) Mohnsen. She attended eighth grade at Colfax and Madison County country schools.
She was married to Louis W. Wiese Oct. 23, 1941, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Leigh.
After Eldorna and Louis were married they farmed near Leigh and Madison. They moved to Norfolk in 1965. Eldorna worked at the Norfolk Hatchery, Henningsen’s and on the farm. Above all, she was an extraordinary homemaker.
Eldorna was tremendously self-sufficient. She grew her own garden, raised chickens and canned food. Eldorna enjoyed crafting, and she made quilts for each family member and friend. She loved music, square dancing and watching others sing and dance. Eldorna was a gracious and giving woman.
She generously fed and entertained all her guests in her always tidy home. Eldorna shared her heart of gold with St. Joseph’s Nursing Home in Norfolk for the last five years.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include seven children, David and wife Mary Wiese of Modesto, Calif., Leo and wife Karen Wiese of Tilden, Margaret and husband Roger Feddern of Norfolk, Marlene Wiese of Norfolk, Mabel and husband Frank Moore of Norfolk, Nancy Wagner of Norfolk, Bob and wife Brenda Wiese of Pierce; 15 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; five siblings, Mamie Severa of Omaha, Edwina Hegr of Pilger, Jenna Jaroska of Fremont, Leo and Monabelle Mohnsen of Norfolk, Harvy Mohnsen of Battle Creek.
She was preceded in death by parents, husband Louis, two brothers, Gus and Edward Mohnsen, infant sister Tina, one great-granddaughter.
Casket bearers will be Marvin Wiese, Rex Wiese, Dave Comstock, Mark Feddern, Lynnette Todd, Tammy Feddern.
Services for Eldorna M. Wiese, 88, of Norfolk will be at the First Presbyterian Church at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday with burial in Union Cemetery at Battle Creek and the Rev. Calvin Harsst officiating. Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Tuesday at Stonacek Funeral Chapel.
She died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home.
