Eugenia L. Kucera, 88
Died: Friday, September 26, 2008, in Fremont
Eugenia was born Sept. 3, 1920 in Rescue, Nebraska to Joseph and Frances 'Jurek' Barta. She came to Fremont at the age of 3, and received her education in Fremont.
In her adult years, she had worked at various jobs, including assisting several families with housekeeping.
She was married to Ernest G. Kucera, who preceded her in death on October 20, 1975. Later, Eugenia made her home with her sister here in Fremont.
Eugenia was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her husband, by 2 brothers (Joseph and Oswald Barta), and by 3 sisters (Olga Bielski, Hilda Vitamvas, and Mildred Kuss).
Survivors include:
her sister – Gabriella Barta of Fremont
nephews – Robert Barta of Yutan
Richard Bielski of California
Darrell Butcher of Rolla, Missouri
Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont will be Tuesday morning (Sept. 30th) from 9 AM until 11 AM. There will be a graveside service at 11 AM Tuesday in Calvary Cemetery.

Rev. Julius W.A. Rechtermann
d. December 30, 2010
The Rev. Julius W.A. (William August) Rechtermann was born June 10, 1926, at Mayview to Julius and Laura (Starkebaum) Rechtermann.
Julius was confirmed at Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church in Mayview in 1939. He graduated from Mayview High School in 1943. For several years after high school he helped his parents on their farm and then served in the United States Army from March 1946 to March 1947. Julius graduated from Central Missouri State College at Warrensburg in 1950 and then from Eden Theological Seminary in Webster Grove, Mo., in 1953.
He was united in marriage to Esther Buelter on June 21, 1953. Julius served congregations in the United Church of Christ in Indiana, Missouri, Iowa and Illinois before retiring at Hoskins in 1991. He was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ.
Survivors include wife Esther Rechtermann of Hoskins; three sons, John and wife Catherine Rechtermann of Richmond, Mo., James Rechtermann of Ocean City, Md., and Joseph Rechtermann of Alexandria, Va.; one brother, Marvin Rechtermann of Mayview; two grandsons, Justin Rechtermann of Polo, Mo., and Jeffrey Rechtermann of Hardin, Mo.; five great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Betty Buelter of Arvada, Colo., Jean Buelter of St. Louis, Mo., and Betty Rechterman of Mayview, four nieces, seven nephews, many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, three brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law, one niece.
Congregational hymns will be “When I Survey The Wondrous Cross,” “Rock of Ages,” “He Leadeth Me.”
Memorial service for the Rev. Julius W. Rechtermann Jr., 84, of Hoskins will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Norfolk. Burial will be at a later date in the Mayview, Mo., Cemetery. The Rev. Jan Harris will officiate. He died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at Faith Regional Health Services.
Arrangements are by Stonacek Funeral Chapel of Norfolk. Memorials may be given to First Congregational United Church of Christ of Norfolk or Norfolk Area Habitat for Humanity.

Warren A. Albrecht
d. December 27, 2010
The son of Fred A. and Ing (Nelson) Albrecht was born Sept. 9, 1920, on the family farm near Pierce.
He was baptized on Jan. 28, 1923, at Christ Lutheran Church in Pierce and confirmed on April 18, 1943, at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Pierce. He attended school through the eighth grade at School District 33 in rural Pierce County.
He married Elnora M. Luebe on June 20, 1943, at St. John’s Lutheran Church near Pierce. After Warren and Elnora married, they farmed southwest of Pierce. They retired from farming in 1978. They enjoyed traveling, taking trips in their motor home to different parts of the United States and Canada and also enjoyed a cruise to Alaska. Warren enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and horses. He had been a resident of the Pierce Manor since January 2010.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pierce.
Survivors include two daughters, Jeanne and husband John Pfeil of Norfolk and Ruth and husband Tom Weinrich of Pierce; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Grace Christensen of Pierce.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, William Albrecht; wife, Elnora, who passed away Oct. 24, 2010; three brothers, Elmer, Alfred and Lawrence; and a sister, Betty Gansebom.
Casket bearers will be Tracy Larson, Mark Pfeil, Scott Pfeil, Todd Pfeil, Michelle Weinrich and Nick Weinrich.
Services for Warren A. Albrecht, 90, Pierce will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church here. The Rev. Chip Winter will officiate with burial in the Prospect View Cemetery.Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Stonacek Memorial Chapel in Pierce. He died Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, at Pierce Manor.

Dale Ettle, 83
ALLIANCE - Dale Eugene Ettle, 83, died Jan. 18, 2016, at Box Butte General Hospital after a short battle with cancer.
Dale was born Jan. 4, 1933, to A. J. (Louie) and Vesta Matthews Ettle at home in Edgemont, S.D. His childhood was filled with numerous adventures including skipping school to deliver papers and snacks to the troop trains during the war years, mangling sheets in the family operated laundry, helping dig out a locomotive after the blizzard of 1949, and qualifying the state track meet in 1948.
Dale married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Forman in Loveland, Colo., on Aug. 31, 1949. They had four children, Kathleen Susan, Larry Lee, Junetta Ruth, and Diane Dale.
After graduating from Edgemont High School in 1951, Dale went to work at the Army Ammunitions Depot in Igloo, S.D. In 1954 he moved to Inavale to attend Telegraphy School. Upon graduation he went to work for the CB&Q Railroad on the old Alliance and Sheridan divisions as an agent telegrapher. During his early railroad years he worked numerous locations including Hemingford, Upton, Wyo., Crow Agency MonT., and finally landed in Gillette, Wyo. In 1958, he purchased a Mobile Oil Service Station and left the railroad for a short time. While in Gillette he was active in the Lion’s Club and was scoutmaster for an outstanding Boy Scout Troop. In 1967, he returned to railroading by working a short time for the Sante Fe Railroad before coming to Alliance as a relay operator. He became a dispatcher and finished his 46-year career as a roadmaster’s clerk in 1995.
After retiring from the railroad, Dale became an avid golfer and enjoyed wintering in Arizona and Texas. He loved sports, especially baseball, football, and women’s volleyball and basketball. He was always eager to get a ticket to see a top team. He especially liked playing cards, and family events were always lively with a challenge on the table, his delightful stories and tricks, and his witty sense of humor. He was a history buff and especially liked learning about American generals, war heroes, and U.S. presidents. Dale loved people, never knew a stranger, and quickly developed lifelong friendships wherever he was. He has left many life lessons and memories to those who knew him and to his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Dale is survived by his two daughters, Junetta (Larry) Wells of Hudson Oaks, Texas, and Diane (Lucus) Wagenaar of Waller, Texas, five grandchildren, Denton (Micki) Campbell, Crofton, Colo., Sterling (Bailey) Wells, San Antonio, Texas, Adam (Erin) Scott, Los Angeles, Calif., Rebecca (Brock) Wilson, Ft. Worth, Texas, Michelle (Race) Mills, Denver, Colo., great-granddaughter, Boadicea Campbell, sisters, Sherrie (Larry) Curtiss, Alliance and Linda (Tom) Beiriger, Omaha, seven nieces and nephews, 17 great nieces and nephews, and too many friends to count.
Besides his parents, Dale was preceded in death by his son Larry in 1962, his daughter Kathleen in 2006, and his second wife Margaret in 2004.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, at St. Matthews Episcopal Church with Father Coke McClure officiating. Burial will be at the Alliance Cemetery. A reception for friends will be following the services at St. Matthews Episcopal Church in the fellowship hall.
Memorials may be given to Saint Matthews Episcopal Church, 312 W. 16th Street, Alliance, Nebraska, The Salvation Army, % Trista Hopp, First National Bank, 124 W. Third Street, Alliance, NE or the donor’s choice.

William E. Donnelly, 89
Died: Thursday, October 02, 2008, in Hooper
William was born November 30, 1919 at Neligh, Nebraska to William and Edna 'Schrader' Donnelly. He graduated from Neligh High School in 1938 and married his high school sweetheart and classmate Alice Bauman on June 28th 1941. William served in the Army during WWII from 1943 to 1946. He then worked in large industry all of his life and retired from Northern Natural Gas Company in 1976. William was active in sports and stayed active in various things till late in life.
William was preceded in death by his wife Alice on April 24, 2005. He was also preceded by Eight brothers and sisters.
Survivors:
2 Sons – Ed Donnelly of Greenwood, CA.
Bill and wife Charlene Donnelly of Hot Springs, Arkansas
There will be no services at this time.
Memorials are suggested to the Dodge County Humane Society.

Robert Minnick, 90
ALLIANCE - Robert Boyd Minnick, 90, died Saturday, July 4, 2015, at his home.
He was born in New Castle, Ind., on April 20, 1925, to Elliot and Eva (Case) Minnick.
After graduating from Alliance High School in 1943, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp, 3rd Tank Battalion, during World War II. He was stationed in Pearl Harbor and Guam before being deployed to Iwo Jima in February 1945. He was discharged in March 1946.
Returning home, he was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone Company.
On Dec. 7, 1947, he married the love of his life, Idonna Marie Tolstedt. They moved to the family farm in the spring of 1949. Bob began employment as a salesman with Alliance Tractor and Implement in 1966, and continued working for 38 years until his retirement in 2004.
Bob was an active member of the community throughout his life in many ways: past member of the Nebraska Educational TV Commission, chairman of the Box Butte County Extension Board, former 4-H leader and president of the Box Butte 4-H council. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Alliance Chamber of Commerce and the Nebraska Boys’ Ranch, a trustee and elder of the First Presbyterian Church, exalted ruler of the Alliance Elks’ Club, and a member of The American Legion, VFW, and 3rd Marine Division Association. Another honor bestowed upon him was the Senior Citizen Big A Booster in 1993-1994.
Bob was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He actively took part in their lives until his death. He was a hero to all who knew and loved him, not just for his undying devotion to his nation and community, but also for the undeniable example of love and support he showed his family throughout his life.
Bob is survived by his children son Dave (Carmen) Minnick of Alliance; daughters Shari (Barry) Harris and Jayne Reeh of Alliance; grandchildren Jason Minnick, Jeff Minnick, Tara Herian, Justin Harris, Derek Harris, Erin Robak, Kristina Pinedo, and Leslie Reeh; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sisters Martha Belle Cotton of Frostburg, Md., and Joyce McGinley of Dillon, Mont.; and his sister-in-law Shirley Minnick of West Chester, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and brothers Jack and Kenneth Minnick.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, at the First Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Mickey Blair officiating.
Burial will be at the Alliance Cemetery with military honors.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be designated to the First Presbyterian Church, AHS Save the Track Fund, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
