PIERCE - Services for Richard L. Switzer, 66, of Hadar will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierce. The Rev. Keith Rezac will officiate, with burial in the Clearwater Community Cemetery. American Legion Post 267 of Clearwater will conduct military graveside rites. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. He died Thursday, March 10, 2011, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
He was born Dec. 18, 1944, at Clearwater to Lloyd and Orpha (Wyman) Switzer. He attended elementary school first in Clearwater and then in O’Neill. He graduated from O’Neill High School in 1963.
He and Janet Kocian were married on April 22, 1967, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spencer. Richard was employed at Safeway in Neligh and Hinky Dinky and the Warehouse Market in Norfolk. He retired in 2009 from Farner Vending after 18 years of service.
Richard was a great sports enthusiast. He was a bowler on many area leagues for over 40 years. Richard was instrumental in establishing the horseshoe pits in Norfolk and Hadar.
He participated in many local, state and world horseshoe tournaments. Richard founded and coached his daughters’ softball team in Hadar. He enjoyed watching Husker football and his grandsons’ sports.
Richard was a Vietnam War veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force from May 20, 1966, to Oct. 31, 1969.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierce, was a firefighter and town board member in Hadar and a member of the American Legion in Norfolk.
Survivors include his wife, Janet, of Hadar; three daughters, Debra and husband Mark Hickman of Albion, Connie and husband Dave Meyer of Norfolk, and Vickie and husband Kraig Christiansen of Plainview; seven grandsons; brother Dal Switzer of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; sister Linda and husband Jim McCarthy of Dupuyer, Mont.; sister-in-law Dorothy Switzer of Omaha; brother-in-law Jim Kocian of Spencer; sister-in-law Bette and John Shald of Stewart; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, three brothers, two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law.
The organist will be Shirley Hetrick, with solos by Duane Christiansen: “Old Rugged Cross,” “Amazing Grace” and “The Lord’s Prayer.”
Casket bearers will be Kevin Switzer, Dana Switzer, Harlan Liska, Bob Shald, Neil Shald and Cope Clark. Honorary casket bearers will be Lonnie Sandall, Gene Farr, John Baker, Dewain Paulsen, Haydn Rugg, Blake Christiansen, Josh Meyer, Garrison Rugg, Austin Christiansen, Nickolas Christiansen and Gavin Christiansen.
Marva Wragge

PIERCE - Services for Marva E. Wragge, 83, of Pierce will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Christ Lutheran Church here. Burial will be at Prospect View Cemetery with visitation 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Stonacek Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Matt Bahnfleth will officiate.
She died Saturday, March, 5, 2011, at Pierce Manor.
She was born Oct. 10, 1927, at Creighton to Albert and Ada (Gardner) Urwin. She attended Pierce Elementary and Pierce High School.
She married Roy J. Wragge March 14, 1947, at Christ Lutheran Church parsonage, Pierce. They farmed north of Pierce. They moved to Pierce in 1987. Marva enjoyed spending time with family and friends, collecting angels and crosses, reading, and she loved to receive flowers.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Pierce.
Survivors include one daughter, Pam and husband Joe Wysuph of Round Rock, Texas; two sons, Daniel and wife Cheryl Wragge of Pierce, Tom Wragge of Pierce; four grandchildren, Nicholas and wife Jayne Wragge of Lincoln, Joshua Wragge and fiancee Melanie Jones and stepgreat-grandson Jaden Jones, Alissa Tadlock and Tiffany of Round Rock, Texas, Anna Wysuph of Round Rock; one sister-in-law, Mary Urwin of Liberal, Kan.
She was preceded in death by parents, husband Roy Sept. 26, 1989, 11 brothers and sisters, one granddaughter, Brandie Elaine Wragge.
‘Frosty’ Harris, 92
WHITMAN - Harold H. “Frosty” Harris, 92, “The Sandhills Cowboy’ of Macomb, Mich., died Sunday, June 14.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 22, in the Whitman Cemetery, with a luncheon to follow.
Lucile Meyerink, 98
Died: Wednesday, March 14, 2012
Lucile was born May 1, 1913 in Osceola County, IA. to Theodore and Christina 'Mohr' Lorch. She was raised and attended school in Osceola County. After her schooling she worked at home until she married Henry Meyerink on May 30, 1936. The couple lived in IA, raising four children before moving to Scribner in 1960. While in Scribner Lucile worked for Cordes Brothers Grocery. The family then moved to Colorado 1971. While in Colorado Lucile worked for Chevalier's Furniture Store. In 1978 they moved to Snyder and there Lucile worked at the Snyder Co-op office. She later moved to the Elkhorn Valley Villa's and was recently a resident at the Scribner Good Samaritan Center.
Lucile has always been an active member in her church. She served as officers in the Ladies Aid and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML). She also taught Sunday School and served as Sunday School Superintendent

Lucile was preceded in death by her husband in 1991 and son Dwight and daughter-in-law Cheryl Meyerink.
The funeral will be Monday March 19 at 10:30am in St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Scribner. The Rev. Bruce Schut and The Rev. Gerry Weaver will officiate. Burial will follow in the Scribner Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Lutheran Family Services, LWML Scholarship Fund and The Orphan Grain Train. Visitation will be Sunday from 3pm to 8pm with the family receiving friends from 6pm to 8pm at Ludvigsen's Scribner Funeral Chapel. Visitation will continue 1 hour before the service at the church in Scribner.
Ludvigsen's Scribner Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Willa A. Lynn, 90
ALLIANCE - Willa A. Lynn, 90, died Sunday, June 28, 2015, at her home.
She was born Aug. 11, 1924, at Bingham, to Amos and Ethel (Diamond) Taylor, the third of seven daughters.
She was married to Robert Lynn in October of 1958.
She resided in Alliance and the surrounding comminutes most of her life. She worked as a cook and babysitter. Her greatest joy in life was seeing and caring for her grandchildren and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her children Don Turner of Caney, Okla., Shirley (Gary) Keane of Hemingford, Regina (Marvin) Schwartz, Mary (Mike) Bannan and Robert Lynn, Jr., of Alliance; 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
She also is survived by her sisters Doris Doyle of Alliance and Janet Lore of Polk; and several nieces, nephews and special people who have cared for her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Mark, one grandson, two granddaughters and four sisters.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 3, in the Bates-Gould Chapel, with Rev. Don Mink officiating.
Inurnment will be in the Alliance Cemetery.

Marie A. Nelson, 86
Died: Thursday, March 26, 2009, in Fremont
Marie was born on the farm northwest of Fremont to Ernest and Mary 'Dobrovolny' Soukup on July 15, 1922, and spent her life in that area. She attended school district 42 and graduated from Fremont High School. She also attended Midland College.
She worked for the F.W. Woolworth store in downtown Fremont, also Schweser's, and Gail's in the Fremont Mall.
On December 28, 1943, she married Raymond Nelson in the First Lutheran Church in Fremont. They lived on farms northwest of Fremont until moving into Fremont in 2002. Marie and Raymond were long time members of the Bluffs Trinity Lutheran Church.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband Raymond on January 8, 2007, by their son Dan, and her brother Francis Soukup.
Surviving is her brother John Soukup of rural Fremont, niece Barb Baker and husband Glenn of Waco, Texas, nephews Carl Soukup of Fremont and Harold Soukup and wife Leona of North Bend.
The funeral service will be 1:30 PM Thursday (April 2nd) in the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel, Fremont, with the Rev. J.O. Baumgartner officiating. The committal will be in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Bluffs Trinity Lutheran Church. Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont, will be on Wednesday from 2 to 8 PM.

ALLIANCE - Duane Eugene Schmidt Sr., 89, died Saturday, May 23, at Nampa, Idaho.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at the Alliance Cemetery, with Br. Don Mink of the Indian Mission Church of God officiating.
