Died: Friday, December 26, 2008, in Hooper
LaVerna was born July 11, 1911 on the family farm south of Scribner. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Ridgeley Lutheran Church south of Scribner. She was raised on the family farm and attended District 44 grade school. LaVerna graduated from Scribner High School in 1928. After high school she received her teaching certificate and taught for 2 years at District 44 school and then for 2 years at District 27 school. She was married on April 29, 1936 to Ernest 'Sam' Klahn. He died in December of 1951. Later LaVerna was married to Bernard Havekost of Hooper, his children were, son John Havekost (now deceased), Sandra Emry, Judy Larsen, Shirley Bauer and Belva Licht. They moved into Hooper in 1960. Bernard Havekost died in 1970. She continued to live in Hooper after his death.
LaVerna was active in her church, card clubs and loved to garden and collect recipes. She enjoyed giving raisin bread to her family at Christmas time. During the last years she was a resident of the Elkhorn Valley Villa in Scribner, the Hooper Care Center and the last 3 years with her daughter and son-in-law in Scribner. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hooper.

LaVerna was preceded in death by her 2 husbands, 1 Son Bernard Klahn in 1962, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
The funeral will be 10:30am Tuesday (December 30), at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hooper. The Rev. Joel Schroeder will officiate. Burial will follow at the Hooper Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Redeemer Lutheran Church, Elkhorn Valley Villa and the Hooper Care Center. Visitation will be on Monday from 3pm to 8pm with family receiving friends from 7pm to 8pm at Ludvigsen's Hooper Funeral Chapel.
Deanna R. Hill, 73
ALLIANCE - Deanna R. Hill, 73, died Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.
She was born Feb. 28, 1942, in Alliance to Glenn and Neola (Gion) Hanna.
On Jan. 8, 1961 she was united in marriage to Richard Montague in Alliance and her threObit-Hill pice children were born to this union. On Jan. 2, 1981, she was united in marriage to Robert Hill in Alliance.
Deanna was a long time employee of WESTCO in Alliance working as a bookkeeper. She also enjoyed getting to know people through her Mary Kay business. Deanna was an avid runner and enjoyed competing in local runs. She also enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren through their participation in activities.
She is survived by her son, Mike (Lilly) Montague of Wichita, Kan., her daughters, Lori (Charlie) Foster of Alliance and Sheri Montague of Scottsbluff. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Devin Montague, Jasey Foster, Matthew Foster, Ashton Johnson and Kristen Foster, her great-grandchildren, Michael Johnson, Icelin Johnson and June Foster. Her brother, John Hanna of Phoenix, Ariz., also survives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Marilyn Schwab.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 27, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father John Kakkuzhiyil officiating. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery.
Visitation will be 1-6 p.m. Sunday from at the Bates-Gould Funeral Home.
Memorials may be given to Jane’s Closet at Box Butte General Hospital or the Alliance Senior Center.
William Becher, 78
Died: Tuesday, December 23, 2008, in Fremont
He was born March 19, 1930 in Columbus. He moved with his family to Hastings in 1935, where he graduated from high school in 1947. And in 1954 he graduated from Hastings College. William was named the 1952 State College Athlete of the Year. He was invited to the Brooklyn Dodgers training camp in 1948.
William was an engineer for Western Electric for over 30 years.

A memorial service will held at 10 AM Tuesday (Dec. 30th) in the First Congregational Church, UCC in Fremont with the Rev. Shirley Schmidt officiating. The committal will follow in Memorial Cemetery. There is no public visitation. Memorials are suggested to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children. Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont is in charge of the arrangements.
William Koester, 75
FORT COLLINS, Colo. - William James Koester, 75, died April 12, 2015, at Center Rehabilitation in Fort Collins, Colo.,
He was born May 29, 1939, at Alliance, Nebraska. His parents were Paul Martin Koester and Florence Mildred (Jewell) Koester.
Bill graduated from Alliance High School in 1957. He graduated from college in 1961 with a business degree from UNL. On June 24, 1961, he married Marjorie Ann Mischnick at the University Lutheran Chapel in Lincoln. At the end of that same year he was inducted into the Army as a second lieutenant. After training at the Aberdeen Proving Ground he was stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado.
When his enlistment was up, he returned to the university’s ag college. He and Marge moved back to Alliance where Bill started a farming and ranching business with Wilhelm Wilbrand. In addition to that career he was also a bank director at Western Bank, partner for 10 years with Bruce Johnson in a photo finishing business and was a member of the city Civil Service Commission. He was also very active in the Lutheran Church.
Upon retirement Bill and Marge moved to Fort Collins. There they could pursue their interest in travel, music and the beautiful setting. They were fortunate to travel to many places in the world.
Bill is survived by his wife Marge and son David (Jing Jing) of Shanghai, China, also his sister Marilyn (Don) Banks.
Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, at Trinity Lutheran Church at Fort Collins.
Kenneth W. "Andy" Andreasen, 90
Died: Monday, December 15, 2008, in Fremont
Kenneth was born October 29, 1918 on a farm in the Orum area west of Blair, Nebraska. His parents were Emanuel (E.J. 'Andy') and Hannah 'Christoffersen' Andreasen. He grew up there, attending rural school. Then he worked with his father in his garage in Orum. The family moved to Fremont in 1938. He worked for Peterson Machine in Fremont before serving in the military.
He was in the army reserves, and when WW II broke out, his unit was called to active duty. He served in the European Theatre of operation under General Patton and the Battle of the Bulge. Then as a mechanic, he repaired equipment in France, preparing for the Pacific Campaign. Near the end of the war, he was stationed in California for the rest of his enlistment. On his return to Fremont, he went into business with his father E.J., and his brother Stanley, operating Andy's Garage. As Chevrolet mechanics, they repaired and also sold Chevrolets. After 42 years of operating the garage, Kenneth and brother Stanley, both retired in 1981.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he did many maintenance jobs. He was a 60 + year member of the American Legion Post 20 and VFW Post 854. He had been a member of the Fremont Boat Club and the Izaak Walton League. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He was a driver for Steffy's and also drove for Dunrite, delivering their products.
On June 2, 1946, Kenneth was married to Margie Metschke at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont.

The committal will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Military Honors will be rendered by the Fremont Honor Guard of American Legion Post 20 and VFW Post 854.
Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary will be on Thursday from 3 to 8 PM, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 PM. Visitation will also be Friday morning at the church for an hour before the service. The family suggests that memorials be given to Trinity Lutheran Church.
