Clara was born December 15, 1914 near St. Edward, Nebraska to Henry and Johana (Schroeder) Meyer. She grew up there, helping on the farm, until she moved to Fremont to help a family with their children. Later she went to work at the Mead Ordnance Plant.
On October 28, 1941, Clara was married in Fremont to Quentin Bubbert. They moved to Van Nuys, Calif. where Clara lived while Quentin completed his US Army service. Following Quentin's military service, they returned to Fremont and had lived most of the time in Inglewood. Her husband was a long time Hormel employee, and the couple were active with Inglewood's community affairs.
Clara was a member of First Lutheran Church and she was an active volunteer with the Low Income Ministry.
She enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards and especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Quentin in June of 1999, son Melvin in Febr. of 2006, 2 brothers and a sister.

A Celebration of Life will be 2 PM Friday (Jan. 16th) in First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Norman Freund and Intern Pastor Nathan Clements officiating. The committal will follow in Ridge Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Low Income Ministry.
Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont, will be on Thursday (Jan. 15th) from 2 to 8 PM, with the family
receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 PM. Visitation will also be at the church Friday afternoon for an hour before the service.
Thelma D. Groce, 83
ALLIANCE - Thelma D. Groce, 83, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015, at Highland Park Care. She was born March 17, 1932, at Pine Ridge, S.D., to Oliver and Louise (Pablo) Swallow. Blessed and grateful for having shared her life are her survivors; husband of 58 years, Marvin Groce of Alliance; children Bill (Andrea) Grooms of Oglala, S.D., Tess Hinn of Rushville, and Nancy (John) Fletcher of Alliance; and step-son Mike Groce and girls; grandchildren and great-grandchildren LuWana (Louie) Janis and girls, Gilbert (Shannon) Grooms and daughters Griffen and Eva, Lex Grooms and son Henry, Arron (Lindsey) Grooms and daughter Lyla, Rob Mendoza and family, Rachel Grooms, Emilee Reina and children Robert and Sissy, Casey (Kylee) Hinn, Blake Hinn, Tyrel (Sarah) Clark and r son Lucas, and Witt (Cassidy) Clark and daughter Aubrey. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son Marvin Gerald Groce, brothers Walt and Herb Swallow, and sister Shirley Wilson. Memorial services will be held at a later date at The Nebraska Veterans Cemetery at Alliance. Memorials may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice. Betty Crouch, 84
ALLIANCE - Betty Crouch, 84, passed away peacefully in Alliance on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 after a battle with cancer.
Betty was born on April 7, 1932, to George H. and Edna (Bentz) Carter in Lynch.
She and Jack met in O’Neill and were married in Norfolk on Nov. 24, 1954.
Betty retired from JC Penney and was active in the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, BPO Does and a faithful volunteer at the Mission Store and the Carnegie Arts Center in Alliance. She also enjoyed spending time with friends, family and pets, sewing, camping, travel, Husker football, and playing cards. She will be remembered for being a wonderful caring mother.
Betty is survived by her four children, Patricia Bentley, of North Platte, Michael (Jackie) Crouch of Fort Worth, Texas, Judith (Charles) Koch of Hershey and Brian Crouch of Alliance. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren, Jennifer Christiansen, Lane Bentley, Kyle (Ashley) Koch, Kurtis Koch, Kendall (Christina) Koch, Kate (Christopher) Waudby, Mariabella Crouch and Tiffany Leever, and her 11 great-grandchildren and her sister Judy (Larry) Hebbert.
Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack Crouch as well as her parents.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Alliance United Methodist Church, Regional West Medical Center Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, at the Alliance United Methodist Church with Pastor Gideon Achi officiating. Interment will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, near Maxwell.

Raymond H. "Ray" Cordes, 89
Died: Monday, February 16, 2009, in Scribner
Ray was born March 9, 1919 in Scribner to Henry and Elsie 'Zwicky' Cordes. He was baptized in March of 1919 and confirmed in 1932 all at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. He grew up in Scribner, attended Scribner Schools and graduated from Scribner High School in 1937. After his schooling Ray enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He began his training in San Diego then served in the South Pacific Theater during the years of 1942 to 1945. When his service time was up, Ray returned to Scribner and with his brothers LeRoy and Carroll, owned and operated Cordes Brothers, which was a grocery, hardware, and appliances business. The family operated the store until it burned down on New Year's Eve on 1978. After the store was rebuilt, Ray worked for the new owners for a brief time.
Before suffering a stroke Ray was an avid golfer, fisherman, hunter and baseball player. He was also a Sunday School teacher and former School Board member and president. Ray was a member of the Scribner Volunteer Fire Department and currently was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, the American Legion Post 121 of Scribner and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10535 in Hooper. After his stroke, Ray loved to garden and to deliver his produce around town.
Ray was married on April 24, 1943 to Dorothy Weber.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers LeRoy and Carroll and a sister Gertrude Heywood.
The funeral will be Friday at 11:00am in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Scribner with Military Honors by Scribner Legion Post 121. The Rev. Bruce Schut will officiate. Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice. Visitation will be on Thursday from 3pm to 8pm with the family receiving friends from 6pm to 8pm at the Ludvigsen's Scribner Funeral Chapel. The committal will be held at a later date.
Elsie Jordan, 89
ALLIANCE - Elsie (Smith) Jordan, 89, of Alliance, (formerly West Monroe, Louisiana), passed away on May 15, 2016, at Highland Park Care Center after a brief illness.
Elsie was born Sept. 6, 1926, in Eureka, La., to Horace and Mittie (Frost) Smith, the middle child of three. Her father, a railroad employee, moved the young family to a small farm in Cheniere, La., where Elsie lived until she met and married Elster Jordan on July 10, 1946 at the age of 16. After working in various office jobs, Elsie started working at J.C. Penney Co. in Monroe, and retired from J.C. Penney in 1991. After retirement she and Elster moved out to land she owned near her childhood home and Elsie grew acres of flowers. Elster and Elsie made West Monroe, Louisiana their home until 2012, when they moved to Alliance to be closer to their only daughter and their granddaughters.
Elsie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathi (Jordan) and James Swanson, granddaughters Kirsten Swanson, Albuquerque, N.M., and Sydney Swanson, Denver, Colo., sisters-in-law Pauline Antley, West Monroe, Marie Doherty, Lafayette, La., and Virginia Smith, Shreveport, La., and brother-in-law Addis Jordan, West Monroe, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Elster Jordan, her parents, her sister Martieal Willer and her brother Jay Smith.
Her funeral will be 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Monroe, with interment to follow at Aulds Chapel Church in Downsville, La. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, May 23, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Monroe. Memorials may be given to Aulds Chapel Bible Church Cemetery or plant a tree and flowers to honor Elsie’s love of all things growing.
