NORFOLK - Services for Kathleen J. Pendergast, 61, of Madison will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norfolk with burial in Thabor Lutheran Cemetery at Wausa and the Rev. Edgar Schambach officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m Sunday at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk
She died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, at Countryside Home.
She was born July 24, 1949, at Osmond to Leonard and Dorothy (Hoeppner) Erickson and was baptized and confirmed at Thabor Lutheran Church at Wausa. She attended Wausa Elementary School and graduated from Norfolk High School in 1967.
She married Michael Pendergast in 1975 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norfolk. They divorced in 2000.
After marriage, Kathy worked at Dale Electronics. When Kathy had children, she was a homemaker and worked for Norfolk elementary schools in the hot lunch program. Later she worked for McDonald’s in Norfolk for 15 years and then Service Master in Norfolk from 2001 to 2007.
Kathy was diagnosed with cancer July 2008. She lived at the Countryside Home in Madison since February 2010. Kathy volunteered with PTA, Norfolk 4-H, as a Sunday school teacher at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norfolk and as a Girl Scout troop leader. She belonged to the VFW and enjoyed sewing and needlework.
She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Norfolk, and VFW Post 1644, Norfolk.
Survivors include two children, daughter Jodi and husband Ben Cunard of Omaha, son Dustin Pendergast and fiancee Megan Lurz of Norfolk; two sisters, Cheryl and husband Jerry Jensen of Sutherland, Iowa, Connie and husband Fred Wortmann of Norfolk; two brothers, Kevin and wife Vicki Erickson and Brian Erickson of Norfolk.
She was preceded in death by parents and three siblings, Marilyn Cisler, Jane Anderson and Gerald Erickson
Organist will be Steve Reinke with congregational hymns “In the Garden,” “Amazing Grace,” “Borning Cry.”
Casket bearers will be Dirk Arneson, Jermiah Arneson, Colby Anderson, Heath Cisler, Bryce Warrick, Joe Russell.
Kenneth I. Henery

NORFOLK - Services for Kenneth I. Henery, 97, of Norfolk will be at Stonacek Funeral Chapel at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday with burial in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery and the Rev. Dr. James Brewer officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday.
He died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at Faith Regional Health Services.
He was born Feb. 17, 1913, at Glenwood, Iowa, to Frank E. and Hulda (Nelson) Henery. He was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Neligh. He graduated in 1931 from Neligh High School, Neligh.
He married Marjorie Trube Aug. 14, 1938, at Yankton, S.D. They farmed southeast of Norfolk for 30 years before moving into town. Kenneth also worked for Cameco Fertilizer over 30 years. Kenneth and his wife Marjorie loved to take vacations to the Palasades, Colo., to pick and can peaches to bring home to Nebraska. Kenneth and Marjorie enjoyed dancing at Riverside and King’s ballroom. Kenneth liked to sing throughout his work and day. He enjoyed carpentry work.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Norfolk.
Survivors include wife Marjorie Henery of Norfolk; children Lawrence Henery and Judy of Norfolk, Joyce and husband Rodney Brand of Foster, Eugene and wife Carolyn Henery of Madison, Leroy and wife Carol Henery of Norfolk; 14 grandchildren and 33 great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five siblings: sisters Stella Dranselka, Opal Holmes and Frances Knaak; brothers Sterling Henery and Earl Henery; one great-grandchild.
Organist will be Betty Frank wth congregational hymns “How Great Thou Art,” “In the Garden” and prerecorded song “Candle in the Wind.”
Casketbearers will be Rod Henery, Guy Henery, Don Henery, Billy Myer, Larry Knaak, Bill Avery.
Hildegarde Fenske

NORFOLK - Memorial services for Hildegarde R. Fenske, 80, Hoskins, will be at First Congregational United Church of Christ here at 2 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Jan Harris officiating and burial in Spring Branch Cemetery. Arrangements are by Stonacek Funeral Chapel.
She died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, at her home.
Hildegarde Ruth Fenske was born Nov. 14, 1929, at Hosmer, S.D., to Diedrich Buelter and Anna Lange. She attended grade school in Sutton and at Gerald and St. Charles, Mo., Calumet, Iowa, and was a Wayne High School graduate in 1947. She attended Wayne State College.
She married Wallace William Fenske June 17, 1951, at Zion United Church of Christ in Gladstone. He passed away Aug. 25, 2007.
After marriage they farmed the Fenske home place for 37 years. They then moved to town in Hoskins. Hildegarde was a very active member at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Norfolk, doing volunteer work for the church, food pantry, Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity.
They enjoyed traveling, including many trips to Europe. She was involved with extension and garden clubs in the area. She enjoyed gardening, reading, needle point, crafts and puzzles.
She was an active member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Norfolk, and Nebraskans For Peace.
Survivors include son and wife, John and Jenny Fenske of Richmond, Texas; four grandchildren, Laura Grace, Jennifer Wheeler, John Fenske II and George W. Fenske; three great-grandchildren, Ethan Wheeler, Westy Grace and CeCe Wheeler; sister and husband, Esther and Julius Rechtermann of Hoskins; two sisters-in-law Betty Buelter of Arvada, Colo., and Jean Buelter of St. Louis, Mo.; one brother-in-law and wife, Paul and Elizabeth Fenske of Philadelphia, Pa.; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by husband W. William Fenske; daughter Trisha Tyler; both parents; two brothers, Emanuel and Ot Buelter; and brother-in-law Jack Fenske.
Organist will be Jill Waterberry with congregational hymns, “I Know That My Redeemer Lives,” “The Lord is my Shepherd,” “Oh God Our Help in Ages Pass.” Soloist will be John Fenske II, “Great Is Thy Faithfulness.”
Carrol D. Fahrenholz

Services for Carrol D. Fahrenholz, 80, of Norfolk will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Pierce, with burial in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Stonacek Memorial Chapel, Pierce. The Rev. Keith Christiansen will officiate.
He died Thursday, April 21, 2011, at Faith Regional Health Services.
He was born June 25, 1930, at Norfolk to Richard and Minnie (Kufahl) Fahrenholz. He was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Norfolk, and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Pierce, in 1955. He attended Norfolk Public School and District 16, Pilger.
He was married to Ione Linda Schulz Jan. 20, 1954, at St. John’s parsonage, Pierce. They farmed in the Randolph, Hoskins and Pierce areas. They moved to Pierce in 2007.
Carrol did custom farming. He enjoyed the grandchildren and family, buying Farmall antique tractors and gambling. He loved talking to anyone who would listen. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Pierce, and had served in the National Guard.
Survivors are wife Ione Fahrenholz of Norfolk; three daughters, Connie and husband Robert Hitz of Raymond, Cheri and husband Steve Deck of Winside, Penny and husband Gene Sporleder of Pierce; 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one due in August; two sisters, Betty Doyle of Grand Island, Darlene and husband Wallace Siefken of Norfolk.
He was preceded in death by parents and two brothers, Virgil and Vernon Dale. Music will be by organist Mrs. Jean Zautke.
Casket bearers will be Chad Hitz, Travis Hitz, Luke Koerting, Jason Willard, Doug Ohnoutka, Nathan Stevens and Brent McCollough. Honorary casket bearers are Mindy Ohnoutka, Nichole Deck Amanda Deck, Samantha Deck, Kimberly Stevens, Vali Hitz, Emily Willard, Cassie Koerting, Tara Sporleder, Shantell Sporleder, Brandi Sporleder, Savannah Hitz, Jaxon Koerting.
Margaret I. Weyhrich

Services for Margaret I. Weyhrich, 86, of Randolph will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John’s Lutheran Church here with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery at McLean. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Stonacek Memorial Chapel in Osmond. She died Monday, April 18, 2011, at her home.
Margaret was born January 5, 1925, at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to John and Elizabeth (Kint) Shindeldecker. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Randolph. Margaret attended Harrisburg Public School to the 8th grade.
She was married December 23, 1947 to the late Marvin E. Weyhrich at Hagerstown, Maryland. Marvin died in October 1993.
For 27 years Margaret and Marvin owned and operated Weyhrich Skelly Service Station in Randolph, until 1987. Later, Margaret was a Cook at Jerry’s Hilltop for 17 years. She retired in 2005. She enjoyed playing video games, quilting, playing cards, and riding her scooter around Randolph. She was a member of the Ladies Aid and Quilters Guild.
Survivors are two sons, Bob Weyhrich of Lincoln, Raymond Weyhrich of Randolph; three Grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister Whitey Schuelley of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania; three nieces; sister-in-law Shirley Kint of Randolph.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marvin, son Darrell, and nine siblings.
Officiating is Reverend Derrick Fallon. Music is by organist Lorene Patent. Hymns include “How Great Thou Art” “Old Rugged Cross” “My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less”.
Casket bearers are Tim Kint, Frank Wortman, Doug Albers, Brad Albers, Charles Peterson, and Jerry Winkelbauer.
