Helen Miller
Helen Gertrude Dunbar Miller was born Jan. 18, 1914, near Tuscola, Ill., to Claude O. and Maude A. (Evans) Dunbar.
She graduated from Chase County High School in the spring of 1932 and married
her high school sweetheart, Wilfred H.N. Miller on Christmas Day of that same year. To this union three children were born: Murlena, Wilfred N. (Bill) and Delvis.
Helen and Wilfred made their home on a farm west of Imperial for 52 years. Upon retirement, they moved in Imperial proper where they have resided until present.
Helen passed away Sunday night, Sept. 23, 2007, at the Chase County Community Hospital, Imperial. She was 93 years of age.
Helen was a homemaker, a charter member of the Chase Community Extension Club and a 75-year member of the First United Methodist Church. Helen also took part in feeding the troops at the North Platte Canteen during WWII.
Survivors include husband, Wilfred of 74 years; daughter, Murlena Beard, and husband, Max, of Imperial; son, Wilfred (Bill), and wife, Susan, of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; son, Delvis, of Norton, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; seven great, great grandchildren.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister, two grandsons and one great grandson.
Funeral services will be held today, Thursday morning, Sept. 27, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Imperial with Pastor Kay Alnor officiating.
Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial.
Visitation was held Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 26, 2007, from 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home in Imperial.
A memorial has been established to the First United Methodist Church of Imperial and the Chase County Senior Center.

Henry Gemaehlich
Henry Gemaehlich, 90, of Sterling, Colo. died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007, in Sterling, Colo.
Henry was born Oct. 21, 1916, to Fritz and Anna (Suchsland) Gemaehlich in Burdette. He was in school through the eighth grade.
He married
Amanda Kullman and later Daisy Oltjenbruns.
Henry worked for various farmers in Phillips County. He also did carpentry for Frosty Chancler and Roy Knight before starting his own carpentry business.
He was a charter member of Amherst Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing.
Henry is survived by his wife, Daisy; son, Keith Gemaehlich and wife Betty; daughters, Carolyn Baker and Marolyn Babcock and husband Clarence; stepsons, Allen Oltjenbruns and wife Linda, and Lester Oltjenbruns and wife Denise; brother, Fred Gemaehlich; sister, Minnie Henning; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bill and Herman Gemaehlich; sisters, Barbara Klinzman, Margret Muchow, Alvina Dunker, Agnes Johnson, Annie Steele and Emma Busing; and first wife, Amanda Gemaehlich.
Services were held Monday, Sept. 24, at 10:30 a.m. at the First English Lutheran Church with the Rev. Gary L. Rahe officiating.
Burial was at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24 at the Holyoke Cemetery.
Memorials may be made the Lutheran Hour.

Raymond Hargreaves
Raymond Hill Hargreaves, age 87, of Holyoke, Colo., died Sept. 17, 2007.
Raymond was born Sept. 17, 1920 to John and Arpy (Bone) Hargreaves 5 1/2 miles south of Holyoke on the family farm. He attended the Holyoke school systems. He was drafted into the service and spent four years in the United States Navy during World War II.
Erma Stinnette and Raymond married
on May 11, 1947 and this union was blessed with one child, Dola Hargreaves.
After being honorably discharged from the Navy in 1945, Raymond came back to Holyoke to help with the family farm. He continued farming and ranching until he retired in 1982. At that time, Raymond and Erma moved into town and turned the farming over to their son-in-law, Wayne. Raymond was a member of the Holyoke United Methodist Church, the American Legion and VFW of Holyoke.
He also served on many boards including Holyoke School Board, Phillips County Telephone Board, Holyoke Community Credit Union and The Farmers Union Supervisory Committee.
Watching football, baseball, farming, cattle, traveling and gardening were some of his favorite things to do. He especially enjoyed his four little great-granddaughters.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Erma; daughter, Dola Salyards and husband Wayne of Holyoke, Colo.; granddaughters, Sheri Bussell and husband, Brent, of Imperial, Neb. and Mendi Lutze and husband, Mark, of Holyoke, Colo.; great-granddaughters, Ashlin and Jadin Bussell and Josilyn and Janessa Lutze; brother, Harold Hargreaves of Fort Collins, Colo.; nephews, Ken Stinnette Jr. of Cedar Bluffs, Neb. and Jeff Hargreaves of Denver, Colo.; nieces, Chana Newill of Fremont, Neb., Susan Miller of Fort Collins, Colo. and Jean Baughman of Texas; cousins, Mildred Adamson of Holyoke, Colo., Florence Werner of Greeley, Colo. and Dorothy Loughman of Cody, Wyo.; and many lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dr. Charles Hargreaves and wife, Jeannette, and sister-in-law, Betty Hargreaves.
Marcia Rose Clark
Marcia Rose Clark,75, of Omaha died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007, in Omaha.
She is the mother of Cindy Arterburn of Imperial.
Rosary will be said on Friday night, Sept. 14, at Heafey-Heafey-Hoffman-Cutler Mortuary at 78th and Center Sts., in Omaha, followed by the Funeral Mass on Saturday, Sept. 15, at 10 a.m. (CT) at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Omaha.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, also in Omaha.
Besides daughter Cindy, husband John of Imperial and their sons, Pete and Lindsey Arterburn of Lindenhurst, Ill; Paul of Topeka, Kan., and Tom of Imperial, she is survived by another daughter, Rita (Steve) Bergstrom of Omaha, and a son, Brian Clark of St. James, NY.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Alice Murphy; husband Jim Clark; an infant sister and brother; and daughter-in-law, Christine Clark.
Thelma Reynolds
Thelma Naomi Schmitt Reynolds died Friday, Sept. 7, 2007 at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman, Georgia.
Thelma Naomi Schmitt was born July 20, 1911 in Madison County, Nebraska to William August and Esther Emelie Wegner Schmitt.
She attended Midland and Western-Union Colleges and worked most of her life as a legal secretary.
In Madison, Neb., on Jan. 1, 1934, she married
George Manley Reynolds. They were married
35 years, until his passing in 1969.
The Reynolds owned Luhrs and Reynolds Funeral Home in Imperial, Neb. George and Thelma had two children, Jane and Richard.
She is survived by her daughter, Jane Reynolds Wilkinson of Cairo; daughter-in-law, LaVeta Reynolds of Parker, Colo.; grandchildren, Delni Jane Rasmussen of Omaha, Neb., Randall Louis McKibbin of Bayard, Neb., Gregory Manley Reynolds of Denver, Colo. and Kristin Jolene Reynolds of Denver, Colo. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and extra special friend, Trudy Forsyth of Bloomfield, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Manley Reynolds; son, Richard Manley Reynolds, who passed away in 1995; and her parents.
Services were held Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, 4 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Cairo, with Rev. Gene Cochran officiating.
Mrs. Reynolds was moved to Imperial, Neb. where a graveside service and interment was held on Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 10 a.m., in Mount Hope cemetery with Pastor Kay Alnor officiating.
Members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class of the First United Methodist Church of Cairo will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Victor Hofman
Victor Herman Hofman was born July 7, 1923, on the family farm near McCook, Neb., to Henry and Dorothea (Wall) Hofman, the youngest of 17 children.
As a young man, Victor worked on the family farm and graduated from Red Willow High School.
He entered The U.S. Navy on March 14, 1944, and served in the Philippines during WWII. Victor was discharged on May 14, 1946, and returned to the McCook area, where he married
Eleanor Marie Church on March 28, 1947.
Victor and Eleanor made Imperial, Neb., their home and in the early 1960's Victor and his brother, Walter, opened Hofman's Repair Shop. Victor and Walter have been businessmen in Imperial for many years.
Victor passed away Saturday afternoon, Sept. 1, 2007, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Neb. He was 85 years of age.
Victor was an active member of the Berean Fundamental Church of Imperial, Awana Leader, girls softball coach and was elected the Mayor of Imperial serving from 1982-1986.
He had many hobbies including woodworking, gardening and antique auto repair.
Survivors include daughter, Linda Butcher, and husband, Marvin, of St. Louis, Mo.; daughter, Patty Larrabee, and husband, Joey, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; son, David Hofman, and wife, Terrie, of Portland, Ore.; grandchildren, Nathan Hofman, Abigail Hofman, Seth Hofman, Havilah Hofman, Marvin Butcher III, John Butcher, Tiffany Butcher, Amy Hott and Amanda Larrabee; great grandchildren, Jaden Hofman, Adam Butcher and Kendall Butcher; brother, Walter Hofman, and wife, Elsie, of Imperial, Neb.; sisters, Dora Malone of McCook, Neb. and Erma Hoeme of Scott City, Kan.
Victor was preceded in death by his parents, wife Eleanor, son Merlyn, six brothers and seven sisters.
Funeral services for Victor were held Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007, 2 p.m. (MT) at the Berean Fundamental Church of Imperial, Neb. with Rev. John Engbrecht officiating.
Organist and pianist were Mrs. Joni Kaiser and Mrs. Zo Kunnemann.
Casketbearers were Max Kaiser, Dennis Kunnemann, Stewart Weiss, Glen Hofman, Stanley Hofman and Ray Lindekugel.
Interment followed at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial.
A memorial has been established in Victor's memory.

Larry W. Alley
Larry W. Alley born Aug. 25, 1938 in Omaha, Neb. has went for the great trail ride in the sky on Aug. 24, 2007.
At a very young age Larry joined the Volunteer Fire Dept. in Ashland and continued his volunteering after moving to Arizona. His first job was at Forest Rakes tire shop in Ashland. He owned and operated a Standard Station where he gained many friends. He joined his stepfather, Fred, in working on the high line crew, where they traveled to many states.
In 1977, he moved to Arizona and went to work for the State of Arizona.
After retiring for a short time, he worked at Superstition Mall again meeting many new friends and sharing a story.
Larry was a 4-H leader for over 19 years where he enjoyed his love for children and horses.
Some of his happiest times were out on the trail riding, camping and enjoying a tall tale from his buddies.
He was a strong supporter of Camp Not A Wheeze, National Jewish Medical and Research Center in Denver, the children at the Kunsberg School. He was a Casa for Pinal County.
Those who knew him always had to be ready for him to pull a prank on you. He was a very happy go lucky fella. He will be dearly missed by all his loved ones and friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Harold and Ruth Alley and stepfather, Fred Reno.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Sharon, of Apache Junction, Ariz.; sons, Terry of Springfield, Mo., Michael and wife, Raelyn, of Mesa, Ariz. and daughter, Pamela and husband, Daniel, of Payson, Ariz. They had three grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Larry also has two sisters, Sharon, and husband, Wayne Raasch, of Champion, Neb. and Linda and husband, Ron Bailey, of Cheyenne, Wyo.
Happy trails till we meet again.
Services will be today (Thursday), Aug. 30, 2007 at 1 p.m. at Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Mesa, Ariz.
Clifford Hancock
Clifford Charles Hancock was born on Dec. 21, 1918 in Champion, Neb.
His parents were James Royal Hancock and Flossie Viola Fulk-Hancock.
His grandparents were Benjamin and Annie Creed-Fulk and Charles and Cynthia Jennie Applegate-Hancock.
Clifford's brother is Dr. James Lyle Hancock.
Clifford graduated from Champion High School in 1937.
He was in The US Army's 18th Engr Medic Det Stationed in The Aleutian Islands in WWll.
He retired from The Standard Oil Company after 30 years in Seattle, Wash.
He passed away in Seattle, Wash.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia; daughter, Carlene (Ted); his brother, James Lyle (Leila) of Illinois; grandchildren, Kari (Sylvia), Krista (Eddie), Kristjan and Kyle; great granddaughter, Kira; nephews, James Brian (Linda), Keith (Becky), Rory (Violet); great nieces and nephews and cousins, Bernard and Sandra Nelson, Betty Deyle of Benkelman and Iona Peterson of Imperial.
