Ron Gloy
Ronald Emil Gloy, age 56 of Ogallala, passed away Thursday morning, July 27, 2006, at his home.
Ron was born Oct. 16, 1949, in Grant, the son of Reinhold and Edith (Pankonin) Gloy. He was the youngest of four children.
He was baptized into the Christian faith on Nov. 6, 1949, and confirmed in the faith on May 26, 1963.
Ron grew up on a ranch north of Wauneta, Neb., and graduated from Wauneta High School with the class of 1968. He then attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln for two and one half years.
He married
Pamela Nordhausen on Dec. 8, 1973, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, rural Wauneta. They were blessed with two daughters, Gretchen Rene and Rachel Elizabeth. They made Ogallala their home in 1986.
Ron was very involved with his family and all of their activities. He will always be remembered for his love of golf.
He is survived by: his wife, Pam of Ogallala; his daughters, Gretchen and husband John Nowak of Ogallala and Rachel and husband Brian Ervin of Ogallala; one granddaughter, Marlee Ervin; his parents, Reinhold and Edith Gloy of Wauneta; sisters, Trudy and husband Jerry Skelton of Surprise, Ariz.; Naomi and husband Jim Brown of Escondido, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Julanna Gloy.
Memorial services for Ron were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 31, 2006, at Trinity Lutheran Church, north of Grant, with Pastor Wayne Pick officiating.
Organist was Patty Clough. Congregational hymns were "I Know that My Redeemer Lives," "The Strife is Over; the Battle is Won," and "How Great Thou Art."
Pallbearers were nephews Troy Skelton, Luke Skelton, Todd Skelton, Monte Skelton, Ben Brown and Cory Nordhausen.
Cremation was chosen and inurnment was in the Ogallala Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
Gubser Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Westyn Rhesa Struckmeyer
Westyn Rhesa Struckmeyer was born on March 17, 2005 in Greeley, Colo. to Damon and Pam (Smith) Struckmeyer and became the baby brother of Mariah Jordan, Sidney Everett and Baylor Leon.
Westyn was baptized on Jan. 1, 2006 at the United Methodist Church in Holyoke, Colo.
He passed away on July 17, 2006.
He touched many lives in his short time here on earth and was free with his smiles, giggles and hugs. He enjoyed playing trucks, trains and helping his brothers and cousin Austen. He loved going to help Dad and Papa Lee. Westyn attended Julie Jones Daycare, Nicole Clark Daycare, the Wray Community Child Care Center and the home of Karen Merritt.
He is preceded in death by great-grandfathers, Kenneth Cranwell, Everett Struckmeyer, Frank Ferguson, L.D. Spears; great-grandmother, Doris Struckmeyer Ferguson and his aunt, Melinda Hansen Struckmeyer.
Surviving him in death are his mother, father and siblings of the family home; grandparents, Lee and Bev Struckmeyer of Holyoke, Colo., Marynell Spears of Sterling, Colo., Don and Linda Smith of Clayton, Calif. and Marcia and Chester Zwirn of Vernon, Colo.; great-grandparents, Marge Cranwell of Wray, Colo., Don and Lois Smith of Austin, Colo. and Mary Beth Spears of Fairbanks, Alaska; Godparents, Steve and Amy May and Andrea Zwirn and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held at the First United Methodist Church of Holyoke on Monday, July 24, 2006, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Darrell Dennis officiating.
Interment was in the Holyoke Memorial Park in Holyoke.
Memorials may be made to the Dragon Wagon Preschool and/or the Westyn Struckmeyer Scholarship Fund for Swim Lessons.
Arrangements were made by the Spellman-Schmidt Funeral Home in Wray, Colo.
Mary Sullivan
Mary Alyce Sullivan was born on Oct. 2, 1925 in Omaha, Neb. She was the third of five children born to William and Margaret Larkin Fenton.
Mary Alyce grew up in Omaha, graduating from St. Joseph High School in 1943.
Margaret eventually became employed as a branch manager in the Benson area for Commercial Savings and Loan.
Mary Alyce was married
to Bill Sullivan on Nov. 12, 1955 in Omaha. In 1958 they moved to the Wallace, Neb. area and eventually made their farm home south of Wallace in Hayes County.
She entered the Chase County Community Hospital in Imperial, Neb., in June and had been transferred to the Imperial Manor nursing home where she died Friday morning, July 21, 2006. She had reached the age of 80.
Mary Alyce was an active member of the Wallace St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She sang for weddings, funerals and other special events for over 40 years. She also belonged to the Jolly Farmerettes for several years.
Mary Alyce was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, William, Jerry, John and Phillip Fenton.
She is survived by her husband Bill; four daughters, Mary Therese and her husband Doug Carey of Lincoln, Kathy Sullivan of Scottsbluff, Neb., Lori and her husband Doug Beals of Lincoln and Noreen and her husband Bob Placek of Alliance, Neb.; one son Bill and his wife Marianne Sullivan of Imperial; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; other relatives and friends.
Rosary was recited on Monday, July 24, 2006, at the Wallace St. Mary's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday July 25, 2006, at St. Mary's Church with Father Mark Pfeiffer officiating.
Burial was in the Wallace Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to the church.

Kent Steckman
Kent Steckman, a Wauneta, Neb. businessman, died Monday, July 10, 2006, at his home in Wauneta, at the age of 52.
Stanley Kent Steckman was born March 23, 1954, the second of three children born to Cecil and Dorothy (Terry) Steckman.
Kent grew up in Wauneta and attended Wauneta Public School participating in all sports. He loved football and excelled in basketball.
Kent graduated from Wauneta High School in 1972.
He started college at McCook Community College and then transferred to Kearney State College graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree. Kent taught Industrial Arts and coached in Trumbull, Neb. until 1981.
In June of 1980 Kent married
Karen Ann Platt and to this union two sons were born: Jeffrey Michael in 1982 and Christopher Kent in 1984.
Kent and Karen moved back to Wauneta in 1981 and purchased his parents' filling station, Crossroads C.B.S. Gas Station. In 1991 Kent and Karen built the new convenience store and car wash at its present location in Wauneta.
Kent was an avid hunter, golfer and fisherman and loved to garden. He enjoyed watching his sons participate in all of their sporting events.
He loved taking his sons and other boys hunting and enjoyed all his fishing trips up north with all of his old buddies.
Kent was a member of the Wauneta Volunteer Fire Department from 1981 until his death. He also served on the Village Board.
Kent is preceded in death by his grandparents and his parents, Cecil and Dorothy Steckman.
He leaves to mourn his passing sons, Jeffrey of Lincoln, Neb. and Christopher of Springfield, Ill.; his brother, Dr. Terry Steckman, and wife, Judy, of Bend, Ore.; sister, Karen Jean Fanning and husband, Mark, of Imperial, Neb; nieces and nephews, Shakira Steckman Anderson and husband, Lyle, and family of Washington, Sydney and Spencer Steckman of Bend, Ore., and Ross and Carson Fanning of Imperial, as well as a host of family and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 14, 2006, at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Wauneta, Neb. with Pastor Judy Dye officiating.
Organist was Mrs. Lucille McBride and music was by the United Methodist Church Choir.
Casketbearers were Dan Jeffries, Russell Fanning, Bert Maxfield, Kerry Denker, Ken Ham, Rex Walgren, Kirby Kitt, Dave Hamilton, Jeff Maris, Frank West, Steve Sears and Lonnie Kitt.
Honorary casketbearers were all of Kent's old buddies.
Interment was at the Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta, Neb. with Liewer Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Clyde Anderson
Clyde "Pete" Anderson, a member of the class of 1946, passed away suddenly Sunday, July 16, 2006.

Pete and Ester had spent two weeks with the Clements at Pete's and Frank's 60th class reunion.
Zachariah Bowers
Zachariah Bowers, 20, of Colorado Springs, Colo. died July 16, 2006.
Funeral services were Wednesday, July 19, at 2 p.m. at Christian Faith Outreach Church in Imperial, Neb., with burial following at Mount Hope cemetery in Imperial.
Zachariah was born April 2, 1984 to Wes and Sandra (Lock) Bowers. His grandparents are Evelyn Lock of Holyoke, Colo. and former Imperial residents Burns and Claudia Bowers, now of Friend. He has one sister, Holly, and her husband, Steve Young, of Massachusetts.
His grandmother, Evelyn, noted Zachariah was living in Colorado Springs with his parents and had just established his own window-washing business. He died suddenly in his sleep Sunday, July 16.

Edward J. Langin
A rosary service for Edward J. Langin, 82, Lamar, Colo. resident and a retired CSU Extension Service area director, was held on July 10 at St. Francis de Sales/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Deacon Henry Wertin recited the rosary.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on July 11 at St. Francis de Sales/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Father Martin Frias officiated. Per Ed's request, cremation followed the funeral mass at the Arkansas Valley Crematory in La Junta.
Mr. Langin was born Jan. 4, 1924, at Paxton, Nebr. He died July 7, 2006, at Pikes Peak Hospice of Colorado Springs. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Edward William and Martha Elizabeth (Holzfaster) Langin; a sister, Gertrude Lee and a brother, Robert Langin.
Mr. Langin is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Langin of the family home in Lamar; daughters, Ann (Jerry) Langin-Hooper of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Mary (Rick) Grouette of Mason City, Iowa; sons, James (Lorinda) Langin of Colorado Springs and William (Lynda) Langin of Highlands Ranch; nine grandchildren; and a brother, Philip (Phyllis) Langin of Imperial.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis de Sales/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church or to the charity of choice, either directly or in care of the funeral home office.

Bonnie Hanna
Bonnie Jean Hanna passed away Saturday, July 15, 2006, at her home in Lafayette, Colo.
Bonnie was born on the "Old Plunkett Place" in Chase County, Neb., June 6, 1931, to Dewey and Thelma Hill.
Her dad crop shared a farm owned by the Reslers.
She attended District #30 Elementary School which was called Hilcrest. It was the largest rural elementary school in Chase County. She went on to attend Wauneta Rural High School. During this time she stayed in Wauneta with her grandmother, Lula Hill.
It was during her junior year she met Charles Hanna. Bonnie and Charles were married
on Nov. 22, 1947. He preceded her in death on Nov. 10, 2003. They had a daughter, Catherine, in 1950; daughter, Vicky, in 1955; and son, Doug, in 1965.
Bonnie excelled at many jobs during her life: waitress, Avon saleswoman, motel receptionist, insurance agent and optometrist assistant. Together with Charles, she owned and operated a farm outside of Wauneta and a motel in Crawford.
Bonnie was a member of the United Methodist Church, Rebekah Lodge and Park Board of Directors and volunteered often in her community. She loved cooking, quilting, decorating, playing cards and gardening. She dearly loved her family, her home, her many lifelong friends and her church.
Bonnie faced many challenges in her life, yet she always had a very pleasant personality and chose to look at the bright side of life. She was very goal oriented and worked hard to achieve what she set out to do. She is known for going out of her way to make folks feel comfortable in her home.
She is survived by her children: Catherine and husband, Lynn Lowman, of Louisville, Colo., Vicky Hanna of Gering and Doug Hanna and wife, Darcy (Mordhorst), of Longmont, Colo.
She is also survived by grandchildren: Shanna Jones of Denver, Colo., Travis Jones and wife, Devon, of Broomfield, Colo., Joshua DeMarcinco of Omaha, Jeremy Madden of Scottsbluff, Lindsey Maulsby of Scottsbluff, Dan Maulsby of Omaha, Ashley and Brooke Hanna of Niwot, Colo.; great grandchildren: Dylan Maulsby, Abigail and Samantha Madden and Ellianna DeMarcinco; brother, Tom Hill, and wife, Ellie, of Lincoln; sister, June, and husband, Duane Blankenship, of Pender; sister, Shirley Ball, of McCook; sister, Delores Collins, of Lincoln; and Jack Hill and wife, Peggy, of Littleton, Colo.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 18, 2006, at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Wauneta, with Pastor Judy Dye officiating.
Mrs. Lucille McBride served as organist and soloist was Mrs. Dawn Doetker. The solo selection was "Amazing Grace" with the hymn, "How Great Thou Art" sung by the congregation.
Casketbearers were Mike Hanna, Dave Hanna, Shanna Jones, Travis Jones, Dan Maulsby, Lindsey Maulsby, Jeremy Madden and Joshua DeMarcinco.
Interment followed the service at Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta.
Memorial contributions can be made in Bonnie's name to the Wauneta Senior Center, Wauneta.
