Elva Read
Elva Pearl (Burtis) Read, age 86, of Limon, Colo. passed away Dec. 17, 2005 at Hugo, Colo.
Elva was born Nov. 9, 1919 in Imperial, Neb. to George Ira and Neva (Kimberling) Burtis.
Elva married
Charles Read on July 4, 1939 in Champion, Neb. To this union two children were born.
Elva was a member of the High Plains Baptist Church in Limon, the Colorado Cow Bell's Women's Association, the Lyon's Auxiliary of Colorado Springs and the president of EPPICA a women's group at the First Baptist Church in Morris, Ill. Elva enjoyed making crafts, cooking and baking, she liked to keep her hands busy doing something. When she was a child she learned to say the alphabet backwards and she would always amaze children with that ability.
Elva was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Robert, Hubert and Dean, a sister-in-law, Maxine Burtis and a brother-in-law, Roland Taylor.
Elva is survived by one son, Jim and wife, Francie Read of Limon, Colo.; one daughter, Katherine Kreiling of Ashland, Ohio; two brothers, Donald Burtis of Sheridan, Wyo. and Ralph and wife, Lucille Burtis of Tracy, Calif.; one sister, Leona Taylor of Sheridan, Wyo; a sister-in-law, Roma Jean Burtis of Imperial, Neb.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren: Pam and husband, Tom Brown and their children; Erica and Jonathan of Limon, Colo.; Nyhma and husband, William Glenn Tramel and their children, Cyrel, Cyle and Christopher Glenn of Killeen, Texas; Celinda and husband, Robert Kerr and their son, Bryan of Ashland, Ohio; Ronnita and husband, Patrick Norval of Northville, Mich. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held today, Dec. 22 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hi-Plains Baptist Church in Limon, Colo. with Pastor Greg Scherrer officiating. Burial will follow in the Pershing Memorial cemetery in Limon.
Memorials are suggested to the Hi-Plains Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 158, Limon, CO 80828.

Goldie was born Jan. 25, 1917 in rural Chase County to John and Lula Smith. She attended school in Chase County through the 11th grade.
In 1935 Goldie married
Clarence E. White and to this union one son, Norman, was born. In the late 1930's they moved to Idaho Springs, Colo.
In 1944 Goldie married
Wm. Clyde Runyon.
In 1946, after WWII, they moved to Imperial to be with her son, who at that time was living with John and Lula Smith.
In 1959 Goldie and Clyde moved to Riverside, Calif. Goldie resided there until 1995 when she moved back to Chase County. She resided in Champion until 2002 when she moved into the Imperial Parkview Assisted Living.
Goldie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lula Smith; brothers, Ross A. and Harry P. Smith; both husbands, Clarence E. White and Wm. Clyde Runyon; and daughter-in-law, Judith L. White.
She is survived by her son, Norman L. White, of Santa Maria, Calif.; sister-in-law, Betty M. Smith of Salida, Colo. and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family requested no services and private burial was in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial.

Albert F. Zuege, Sr.
Albert F. Zuege, Sr., 84, of Haigler died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005, at the Dundy County Hospital in Benkelman.
He was born July 24, 1921, in Haigler.
He was a farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Sophia P. (Keller) Zuege of Haigler; sons, Albert Zuege Jr. of Imperial and Alfred Zuege of South Dakota; four grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. MT at the Zion Lutheran Church in Haigler.
Interment and military graveside services will be at the Haigler cemetery in Haigler.
Memorials are being accepted in his name at the Zion Lutheran Church in Haigler.
Knodel Funeral Home of St. Francis, Kan., is in charge of arrangements.

Jessie Isobel Tibbetts
Jessie Isobel Tibbetts passed away at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005, surrounded by family, at the age of 95.
Jessie Isobel Tibbetts was born on July 17, 1910, at Sheddon, Ontario, Canada, the youngest child of John William Cain and Jeanetta Marjorie Conway Cain.
At the age of four, she came to the United States with her mother, two sisters and one brother, to Julesburg, Colo., where she lived for a time with her uncle John and aunt Beatrice Cass.
She graduated from Sedgwick County High School, Julesburg, Colo., in 1927.
Jessie Isobel was united in marriage to Beniah Cecil (B.C.) Tibbetts at Colorado Springs, Colo. on Aug. 13, 1928. Their home was established at Canon City, Colo., where they operated the Tibbetts Family Fruit and Vegetable Farms. In 1931, they returned to Chase County and took over the family ranch on the South Divide, near Imperial, Neb. In 1943, the family moved to the property on the edge of Imperial where they continued their cattle and horse operation. Jessie worked for J.C. Penney Co., moving to Lincoln, Neb. in 1968 when the store closed in Imperial, to continue working for J.C. Penney Co. She was a 27 year employee and a member of the Penny Club at the time of her death.
Jessie became a member of the Methodist Church at the age of 10. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Imperial and later Grace United Methodist Church in Lincoln where she has been a member since 1985. She held numerous offices in United Methodist Women, Circle and fellowship groups. She was also a member of the Grace United Methodist Quilters and Bryan Board. Isobel and B.C., as they were usually called, were both charter members of the Imperial Riding Club.
Jessie became a citizen of the United States at the age of 65. She was very proud of this.
She enjoyed playing her piano and organ and singing. She also loved to write poetry, having poems published in the Aging Services Life Lines magazine. She was asked to give one of these at a patriotic service at Antelope Pavillion in Lincoln.
She is survived by her children: Marjorie Lesh of Indio, Calif., Robert E. Tibbetts and wife, Mary, of Westwood, Calif., Marilyn Korinek and husband, Harold, of Crete, Neb., Maureen Moeller and husband, Albert D., of Grand Island, Neb., Linda Beck and husband, Glenn, of Hermantown, Minn. and Lynn A. Tibbetts and wife, Jaci, of Crete, Neb. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband, B.C in 1965 and infant son, Stanley Cecil; two sisters, Mina Jean Cain and Mildred Ena Taylor; one brother, William Wilbert Cain and her parents.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 15) at Grace United Methodist Church, 2640 "R" Street, Lincoln, Neb. with Dr. Wayne Reynolds, Lincoln and Rev. Dean R. Joy, Arnold, Neb., officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial, with Pastor Kay Alnor officiating. Visitation at 2-9 p.m. Wednesday with family greeting from 6-8 p.m. at Roper and Sons, 4300 "O" Street, Lincoln and one hour prior to service time at the church.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be sent to Grace Quilters of Grace United Methodist Church or donor's choice.
Otis J. 'Knotty' Knotwell
Otis J. 'Knotty' Knotwell, 82, passed away Dec. 9, 2005, at the Northern Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, Colo.
He was born Feb. 23, 1923, in Chase County, Nebraska, to Otis and Clara M. (Ditton) Knotwell. He graduated from Wauneta High School in 1942. He started at McCook Junior College but then joined the Marine Corp on Feb. 16, 1943. He served his tour of duty mostly in the South Pacific. He mustered out on May 2, 1946.
He married
Beryl I. Hamilton on Aug. 25, 1946. Knotty served on the Nebraska State Patrol at Norfolk, Neb., 13 years before returning to Wauneta after the death of his father. During his long life he was in law enforcement, was a blacksmith, nursing home maintenance man and golf course maintenance man in his semi-retirement. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Wauneta, a life member of American Legion Post 304, life member and Commander of VFW Post 7996 and life member of the Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife, Beryl; daughter: Carol and husband Steven Thompson, Barb and husband Gordon Hinrichs, Colleen and husband Dennis Goings and Patti and husband Lonnie Kitt; son James Knotwell and wife Denise, 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; sister Esther (Knotwell) Einspahr; several nieces and nephews and more friends than you can count.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Clara Knotwell; sister Betty (Knotwell) Jehorek and daughter JoAnn Thorman.
Memorial services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. MT at the United Methodist Church in Wauneta with Rev. Judy Dye officiating.
Inurnment will follow at the Riverside Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
Bobbie Glenn Case
Bobbie Glenn Case, 78, of Imperial, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005, at his home in Imperial.
Bob was born Sept. 2, 1927, in Lamar, Nebraska to Glenn E. and Elsie (Weiss) Case. Bob was united in marriage to Nancy Shaw, on Jan. 27, 1951. They were blessed with a son, Mitchum and a daughter, Nanette.
Bob served in the United States Navy from Aug. 28, 1945 until Sept 28, 1948. He was stationed on the USS Helena and the USS Los Angeles. These ships were stationed in the Pacific Ocean.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Case of Imperial; son, Mitch of Imperial; daughter, Nanette Bilka and husband, Terry of Enders; six grandchildren including Charlesa Kline and husband, JR of Imperial, Robert Case of Sidney, Neb., Joseph Bilka and wife, Lyndsey of St. Charles, Mo., Janine Case of Denver, Colo., Joni Case and son Quentin of Sidney, Neb. and Sam Case of Omaha, Neb.; two sisters, Darlene Hartshorn and husband, Jim of Boulder, Colo. and Donna McNair of Imperial; numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Norma (Pat); five brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law.
Graveside services were held on Dec. 3 at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial with JR Kline officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are being accepted in Bob's name.
