VERDIGRE - Services for Lorene Bauer, 83, of Verdigre will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Verdigre with burial in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brockhaus Funeral Chapel in Verdigre.
Mrs. Bauer died Friday, July 7, 2006, at Alpine Village in Verdigre.
Duane Bivens
PLAINVIEW - Services for Duane “Shorty” Bivens, 79, Plainview, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Catholic Church here with burial in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday at Ashburn Funeral Home.
He died Saturday, July 8, 2006, at Plainview Manor.
Duane was born Sept. 27, 1926, to parents Archie and Margaret Bivens in Plainview. He married
Louise Babl on April 28, 1951.
Duane was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Plainview, a past member of the Plainview Fire Department of 40 years and was also a Legionnaire.
Duane is survived by his wife, Louise (Babl) Bivens of Plainview; five children, Becky and Terry Baller of Plainview, Dan and Nyla Bivens of Omaha, Mary and Jeff Hoffman of Lincoln, Dave and Vicki Bivens of Norfolk and Lori and Mike Wragge of Plainview; 11 grandchildren, one stepgrandchild, two great-grandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Margaret Bivens, and by two brothers, Bill Bivens and Don Bivens.

OSMOND - Memorial services for Michael Bryant, 57, Wausa, will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Ashburn Funeral Home in Osmond.
He died Saturday, July 8, 2006, at Faith Regional Health Services.

Services for Don G. Hrdlicka, 70, Osmond, formerly of the Randolph area, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Cadott, Wis. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Stonacek Memorial Chapel in Osmond.
He died Friday, July 7, 2006, at Osmond General Hospital.
Lucille MacDonald
MADISON - Lucille “Honey” MacDonald, 83, of Bellingham, Wash., died Wednesday, July 5, 2006, with services July 10 at Bellingham. Visitation will be at Resseguie Funeral Home in Madison on Wednesday, July 12, at 9 a.m. followed by committal at St. Leonard cemetery at 10 a.m.
She was born April 10, 1923 in Cedar Rapids to Leonard and Emma (Kreifels) Dieter, the youngest of seven children.
She is survived by sons, Gary (Marvalee) MacDonald of Sparks, Nev., and Jeff MacDonald of Portland. Also surviving are longtime companion, Dave Houghtaling of Bellingham; grandsons, Robert (Monique) MacDonald of Fernley, Nev., and William (Lorinda) MacDonald of Brighton, Mich.; granddaughter, Kathleen (Dave) Dernbach of Portland, Ore.; four great-grandsons and numerous nieces and nephews.
Virginia Nelson
LEIGH - Virginia Nelson, 82, of Clarkson died Friday, July 7, 2006, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Clarkson.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Leigh with burial at Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 .m. Monday at Miller Funeral Home in Clarkson and resume Tuesday after 9:30 a.m. at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the church.
Virginia was born July 4, 1924, in Kimball County, Nebraska, to George and Louise (Schlegel) Schneider. She attended school in Kimball County and graduated in 1942. During World War II, she worked in Sidney at the Sioux Ordnance Depot for five years.
On June 18, 1948, she married
Delbert Nelson in Scottsbluff. In 1962, they moved to Clarkson, and from 1967 to 1989 she worked at B-D in Columbus. She loved to play golf and bingo, go bowling, crocheting and cooking for her family, and she cherished her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Delbert of Clarkson; three daughters, Brenda (Mrs. Duane) Novotny of Lincoln, Janice (Mrs. Roger) Kucera of Leigh and Cynthia (Mrs. Frank) Pekny of Norfolk; six grandchildren, Kim Pinneo, Nicole Lindhorst, Angie Arkfeld, Shawna Pekny, Shane Pekny and Brent Novotny; and six great-grandchildren and four sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and three brothers.
The Rev. Terry Timm will officiate. Lunch will be served at the church.

Services for Sister Phyllis A. Wemhoff, 92, Colorado Springs, Colo., formerly of Humphrey, were July 3 at St. Francis Assisi Church with burial in Mount St. Francis Cemetery. The Sister of St. Francis died June 28, 2006, at the Mount St. Francis Nursing Center.
