MADISON - Services for Philip G. Schmer, 80, Madison, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Chuch here with burial in Crown Hill cemetery and miliary rites by American Legion Post 35 and VFW Post 5763. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at Resseguie Funeral Home.
He died at home Tuesday, July 4, 2006.
Ernest Velder
PETERSBURG - Services for Ernest J. Velder, 94, Petersburg, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church here with burial in St. Bonaventure cemetery at Raeville. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Thursday at Huffman’s Brooks Chapel in Elgin and after 7 p.m. at the church with a 7:30 p.m. wake.
He died Tuesday, July 4, 2006, at Neligh Nursing Center.
Phyllis Wamberg
WAUSA - Services for Phyllis E. Wamberg, 77, of Wausa will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Tabor Lutheran Church in Wausa with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. Brockhaus Funeral Home of Wausa is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Wamberg died Tuesday, July 3, 2006, at Wausa Health Care Center.

WINSIDE - Services are pending at Schumacher-Hasemann Funeral Home for Irene Warnemunde, 100, Winside. She died Tuesday, July 4, 2006, at Heritage of Bel-Air in Norfolk.
Floyd Wichman
RANDOLPH - Services for Floyd W. Wichman, 75, of Randolph will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Randolph with burial in the Randolph City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Home for Funerals of Norfolk is in charge.
Mr. Wichman died July 4, 2006, at Colonial Manor of Randolph.
Floyd was born on April 11, 1931, at Battle Creek, the son of Walter and Ella Mae (Brunswig) Wichman. He was baptized on April 26, 1931, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Norfolk. He was raised on the family farm and attended rural school. He was confirmed on April 15, 1945, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church south of Battle Creek.
Floyd work for Nash-Finch from 1949 to 1951 when he entered the U.S. Army on March 20, 1951. He received his honorable discharge on March 19, 1954. Floyd re-entered the Army on Sept. 25, 1956, and served until Sept. 28, 1957.
He returned to work for Nash-Finch in 1960 and continued until 1976.
On Oct. 24, 1969, Floyd married
Betty McDonald at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Randolph. The couple made their home in Norfolk until 1977 when they moved to Randolph. Floyd worked for Randolph Farm Equipment from 1977 until his retirement in 2004.
Floyd is survived by his children, Ed Wichman of Randolph, Elizabeth Vigil of Eagle Point, Ore., Cindy Wichman and her friend, Bob Werner of Norfolk, Sheila Wichman of Broken Bow, Jeff Wichman and his friend, Barb Inness of Chapman and Steve Wichman and his fiancee, Cathy of Randolph, and by 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty on March 3, 1990, and two brothers, Richard and Loyd (Bud).
The Revs. Howard Mohlke and Randy Bader will officiate.
Darrel Zeisler
EMERSON - Darrel R. Zeisler, 89, of Emerson died Sunday, July 2, 2006, at his residence.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Emerson with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Wednesday with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Munderloh Funeral Home in Emerson.
Verne Wagner

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington with burial in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with a 2 p.m. rosary and 7:30 p.m. vigil at Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.

WEST POINT - Services for Hildegard Stuckenschmidt, 94, West Point, will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in West Point with burial in St. John cemetery at Pender. Visitation will be until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Stokely Funeral Home with family present 6-8 p.m.
She died Sunday, July 2, 2006, at Colonial Haven in Beemer.
Viola Swanson
PETERSBURG - Services for Viola J. Swanson, 80, Newman Grove, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Johns the Baptist Catholic Church here with burial in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion with a 7:30 p.m. rosary and resume Wednesday after 9 a.m. at the church.
She died Saturday, July 1, 2006, at her home.
Viola Josephine Swanson, daughter of Anton and Josephine (Landauer) Mescher, was born on Oct. 25, 1925, near Petersburg. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and attended St. John’s Elementary and High School.
On Dec. 11, 1943, Viola was united in marriage to Leo Swanson in Lake Worth, Fla. They lived and farmed west of Newman Grove where they raised five children. Viola was a hard working and caring member in the community. She was employed as a clerk for JC Penney Co. in Albion for 19 years and worked at Barnes Mini Mart in Newman Grove for 22 years.
She was a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Petersburg. In her spare time, Viola enjoyed quilting, gardening and spending her time with her children and grandchildren.
Viola is survived by her husband, Leo of Newman Grove; four children, Joan Swanson of Coeur D’Alene, Idaho, Tom Swanson of Albion, David and wife Patsy of Waelder, Texas, Suzanne Kaufman and husband John of Newman Grove; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; extended family, Don Strunk of Priest River, Idaho, and his children and grandchildren, and Ronelle Christo of Albion and her children and grandchildren, and Jody Wiseman of Austin, Texas; sister, Alvina Lodge of Pierce.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Edward, Raymond, Tony and Robert Mescher; and her son, Larry, who passed away on Aug. 2, 1964.
Father Stan Schmit will officiate.
