Lorna Monson
MEADOW GROVE - Services for Lorna Monson, 66, of Norfolk will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Meadow Grove with burial in McCoy Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Brockhaus-Harlan Funeral Home in Tilden.
She died Sunday, June 4, 2006, at Sunrise Country Manor in Milford.
Lorna Lea Monson, daughter of Homer and Martha (Brown) Nelson, was born March 28, 1940, at Oakdale. She attended District 21 rural school and graduated form Meadow Grove High School in 1957. She completed one year of college at Northeast Community College in Norfolk.
She was married
to Bob Monson in 1958 at Meadow Grove. Lorna worked at the Westside Tavern in Tilden for 16 years before being employed by the law firm of Copple, Rocky, and Stafford in Norfolk for 13 years. She retired in 2004 and moved to Lincoln in 2006. She was a past board member of the Norfolk Support Group for Widowed and Divorced.
Survivors include her children, Pat and her husband, Fred Whitebread of Seward, and Mark Monson of Lincoln; three grandchildren, Chadd Whitebread, Cameron Monson and Chasity Rutjens; and one brother, Larry Linse of Tilden.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Norman Nelson.
Edward Pacas
STANTON - Edward M. Pacas, 68, of Stanton died Sunday, June 4, 2006, at Stanton Health Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Stanton VFW Club with burial in the Stanton cemetery and military rites by VFW Post 3602 and American Legion Post 88. Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Wednesday at the club. Shultz-Vogel-Johnson Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Lewis Stecher
WEST POINT - Lewis Stecher, 68, West Point, died Tuesday, June 6, 2006, at the West Point Living Center. Services are pending at Stokely Funeral Home.

Wilhelm Faubel
Services for Wilhelm “Billy” Faubel, 80, of Norfolk will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Home for Funerals with burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Faubel died Saturday, June 3, 2006, at Faith Regional Health Services.
Lucille Widhalm
Services for Lucille C. Widhalm, 79, of Norfolk will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Norfolk with burial in St. Francis Catholic cemetery at Humphrey. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with a vigil service at 7 p.m. at the church. Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Widhalm died Saturday, June 3, 2006, at Faith Regional Health Services.
Lucille was born on Sept. 6, 1926, in Madison County, the daughter of Joseph and Angela (Melcher) Moser.
She graduated as valedictorian at Humphrey St. Francis High School. She received her teaching degree while residing at the Franciscan Convent in Denver, Colo. She then taught in New Mexico, Kansas and Nebraska.
She married
Cletus H. Widhalm on Aug. 24, 1954, at St. Francis Catholic Church at Humphrey. The couple then farmed near Cornlea before moving to Humphrey where she worked part time for the post office. In 1980, they moved to Norfolk where she worked full time for the post office until retiring in 1990.
She was a third-generation cake decorator, a Catholic Daughter Society member and a member of the altar societies both in Humphrey and Norfolk, a past secretary for the NARFE and taught CCD in Humphrey and Norfolk.
She is survived by her husband, Cletus of Norfolk, and their children, Clarence and Gwynne of Norfolk, Joan and Calvin Bahns of Leigh, Jane Bruegger of Columbus, Ron and Jill Widhalm of Columbus, Alvin Widhalm of Columbus, Roy and Jackie Widhalm of Norfolk, Lyle Widhalm of Randolph, Maria and Kent Schneider of Omaha, and Leon and Marlene Widhalm of Edmund, Okla; five brothers, Melvin Moser of Casper, Wyo., Paul Moser of Norfolk, Eugene Moser of Plevna, Mont., Kenneth Moser of Norfolk, and James Moser of Casper, Wyo.; one sister, Catherine Grashorn of Villisca, Iowa; 28 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.
The Rev. Dave Belt will officiate.
Joan Cushman
Services for Joan Cushman, 87, Sioux City, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Anderson-Perasso Funeral Home in Sioux City. Burial will be in the Correctionville (Iowa) Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday with the family present 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
She died Thursday, May 4, 2006, at Colonial Manor in Randolph.
Joan was born Feb. 24, 1919, in Sioux City, the daughter of John and Alice Elizabeth (Clark) Kennedy. She married
E.L. “Jack” Cushman on March 16, 1939, in Elk Point, S.D. He died Feb. 8, 1991, in Sioux City.
Joan had lived in Sioux City her entire life until moving to Randolph five years ago. She was a member of Woodman of the World and the Moose Lodge.
Her greatest joy was her family.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Sandra and Bob Sauser of Randolph; a son and his wife, Ron and Carol Cushman of St. Louis Park, Minn.; five grandchildren, Kristie (Keevin) Arens, Beckie (Steve) Lechtenberg, Dorothy “Dottie” (Tom) Schmit, Nicole (Dan) Peterson and Shannon Cushman; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, Don Pinkston and Chris (Jackie) Pinkston; and her longtime best friend, Cecil Michael.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and several brothers and sisters.
The family wishes to thank the personnel at Colonial Manor for their care and support.
Arvilla Kirch
WISNER - Services for Arvilla Kirch, 91, of Wisner will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church here. Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemtery in rural Beemer.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Wednesday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Kuzelka-Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner and will continue on Thursday from 11 a.m. till service time at the church.
Mrs. Kirch passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2006, at the Wisner Care Center.
Clifford Lodge
PIERCE - Services for Clifford Lodge, 83, Pierce, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church here. Burial will in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at Stonacek Memorial Chapel in Pierce with a 7:30 p.m. rosary.
He died Saturday, May 6, 2006, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
J.R. Warner
Services for J.R. “Whiff” Warner, 83 of Columbus, will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday at Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus. Military honors will be by the American Legion Honor Guard, Hartman Post 84.
There will be no visitation.
He died Tuesday, May 2, 2006, at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha.
Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association.
Juel R. Warner was born Sept. 14, 1922, in De Smet, S.D., to Lyle and Ann (Odegard) Warner. He graduated from Norfolk High School and received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
On May 20, 1943, Juel entered the U.S. Army, serving during World War II with the parachute infantry. He was honorably discharged on July 14, 1945.
On March 27, 1948, he married
Ruth Korb in Norfolk. They settled in Columbus, where J. R. worked for Behlen Manufacturing Company, retiring as advertising and sales manager.
He enjoyed gardening, golf, sports, and trips to Las Vegas. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion.
J. R. is survived by his wife, Ruth Warner of Columbus; a son, Rick Warner and his wife, Shelly, of Wichita, Kan., his grandchildren, Nicole, Lucas, and Nathan; his great-grandchildren, Haley and Alex; another son, Dr. Greg Warner and his wife, Judy, of Visalia, Calif.; grandchildren, Jason, Shelli, Grant and Nick; great-grandchildren, Scott and Jack; a daughter, Kris Kingston of Omaha; grandchildren, Michael and Lauren; a son, Korb Warner of Omaha; and grandchildren, A.J., Dylan, Emma and Jacob.
J.R. was preceded in death by parents, Lyle and Ann Warner, and a grandson, Frederick Lyle Warner Jr.
Special remembrances will be given at the service by Rick Warner, Dr. Greg Warner, Kris Kingston and Korb Warner. A lunch will be served at the VFW Club following the service.
