WISNER - Services for Kathy Dennis, 81, of Bloomington, Ill., formerly of Wisner, are pending at Kuzelka-Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner. Mrs. Dennis died Tuesday, May 2, 2006, at BroMenn Health Center in Normal, Ill.
Don Jaroska
CLARKSON - Services for Don Jaroska, 64, of Clarkson will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home in Clarkson with burial at Clarkson National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and after 9:30 Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Jaroska died Sunday, April 30, 2006, at his home.
Don was born Aug 18, 1941, in Stanton County to Joseph and Emilie (Teply) Jaroska. He attended Stanton County rural District 38 School and then graduated from Clarkson High School.
Don loved to farm and he also loved his animals, especially his dog Corky. He was also a good mechanic and enjoyed repairing his own equipment. He was also an avid pencil collector and had an extensive collection.
He is survived by his two brothers, Jerome (wife Faythe Ann) Jaroska of Norfolk and Miles Jaroska and his wife Coleen Scarborough of Sulphur Springs, Texas. He is also survived by a nephew, Jonathan (wife Susan) Jaroska of Medina, Ohio, and great-nieces Alana and Jonna.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Dr. Earl F. Underwood Jr. will officiate. Lunch will be served at the church after the service.
Harold Loewe
BEEMER - Services for Harold E. Loewe, 85, of Beemer will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church here with burial in Immanuel Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m. at Kuzelka-Minnick Funeral Home in Beemer and continue Wednesday after 11 a.m. at the church.
He died Monday, May 1, 2006, at the West Point Living Center.
Alvin Miller
FOSTER - Services for Alvin Miller, 75, Foster, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church here. Burial will be at Pleaseant View cemetery in Plainview. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Stonacek Memorial Chapel in Pierce.
He died Sunday, April 30, 2006, at Pierce Manor.
He was born Oct. 11, 1930, in Pierce County to Eddie Miller and Matilda Braatz. He was baptized Sept. 15, 1944, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Foster, by the Rev. Edwin Murphy and confirmed Dec. 17, 1959, at Trinity Lutheran Church by the Rev. Richard Skov. He attended attended School District 23 in Pierce County to eighth grade.
He married
Fayetta Holmes on Feb. 28, 1950, at Yankton, S.D.
They lived and farmed southwest of Foster. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Fellowship Club and served in several church offices. He did carpentry work for 10 years. He had been a resident of Pierce Manor since May of 2005.
Survivors include his wife, Fayetta Miller of Osmond; two daughters, Alvetta and husband Lyle Rafert of Plainview and Arla and husband Dennis Petersen of Norfolk; one son, Richard and wife Linda Miller of Norfolk; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Bernice Christensen, brother-in-law Vernon Christensen and granddaughter Laurie Miller.
The Rev. Jerome Leckband will officiate.
Frank Oberle
O’NEILL - Private memorial visitation for Frank Oberle, 71, O’Neill, was conducted Monday at Biglin’s Mortuary. He died Monday, May 1, 2006, at the O’Neill hospital.
Mary Jane Roepke
Mary Jane Roepke, 86, of Sioux City died Friday, April 28, 2006, at Casa de Paz Nursing Home following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Services were Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery. Christy-Smith Larkin Northside Chapel was in charge.
Memorials are directed to Hospice of Siouxland or Alzheimer’s Association.
Mary Jane Roepke was born Nov. 29, 1919, in Crofton, the daughter of Michael and Clara (Grothe) Biernbaum. She was raised and educated in Northeast Nebraska and moved to Sioux City around 1938.
She met Ronald Roepke in Kingsley, Iowa, and they were married
June 7, 1940, in Ponca. Mary Jane worked at the Ye Old Tavern, the Battery Co., Rehan’s Department Store and also worked as office manager at Dean Drug in Sioux City.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She loved to fish and enjoyed reading and being with her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald of Sioux City; four children, Daniel and his wife Vicky, Judith and her husband Michael Francis, David and his wife Robin, and William; 10 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother Cyril, sisters Alice Donner and Tresea Cakl and infant daughter Delores Rose.
Pallbearers were Todd and Troy Roepke, Neil Roepke, Scott Cabney, Shawn Francis and Doug Miller.
Sue Maggart
Sue Ann Maggart, 61, of Gering died Saturday, April 29, 2006, at her home. At her request, cremation has been held at the Jolliffe Funeral Home Crematory in Scottsbluff and no services will be held.
Memorials may be sent to the American Lung Association of Nebraska in Omaha.
She was born Sept. 4, 1944, at Central City, the daughter of Oliver C. and Bette (Brown) Smith. She graduated with the class of 1962 from Hastings High School.
Sue was united in marriage to Rodney L. Maggart on April 29, 1966, at Hastings. She had been a beautician for many years in Hastings and Norfolk and spent many years of her life working with developmentally disabled individuals. She had recently been managing the RC Scott and Lincoln House in Scottsbluff.
Sue loved to work with her husband training their Labrador retrievers. She was deeply loved by her family and many friends and her warm, spunky spirit will be greatly missed.
Sue is survived by her husband, Rod, of Gering; a son, David, and his family of Norfolk; a daughter, Tricia Mueller, and her family of Lincoln; her father, Oliver C. Smith of Hastings; a sister, Pat McKinney of Wauneta; and a brother, Scot Smith of Hastings.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Myron Brodecky
SCHUYLER - Services are pending at Svoboda Funeral Home in Schuyler for Myron Brodecky, 87, of Howells. Mr. Brodecky died Monday, May 1, 2006, at Faith Regional Health Services.
Alta DeCamp
NELIGH - Services for Alta J. DeCamp, 75, Neligh, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church here with burial in the Clearwater Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Beyer Funeral Home in Neligh.
She died Saturday, April 29, 2006, at Tilden Nursing Center.
She was born July 22, 1930, at Clearwater to Mark and Wilda (Ruggless) Hemenway. She attended school at District 7 through the eighth grade and graduated from Clearwater High School.
She was united in marriage to Charles “Chuck” DeCamp on Jan. 9, 1949, at Lincoln. The couple spent most of their married
life in Tilden. Alta worked at the Tilden-Elkhorn Valley High School as the superintendent’s secretary for 29 years. They later moved to Neligh.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church and was a past treasurer for the United Methodist Women. She was also active with the Antelope County Historical Society and volunteered at the Antelope County Museum. Other organizations that she was involved with were the Book Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Daughters of the American Revolution and several extension clubs.
She enjoyed shopping for antiques, refinishing furniture, genealogy, collecting all kinds of dolls and her cats.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Doug and Diane DeCamp of Norfolk and Marcie and Fred Bowman of Santa Fe, N.M.; a brother, Max Hemenway of Hillsboro, Ore.; and two grandsons, Scott and Andrew DeCamp.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son in infancy and her brother, Doug.
