Alfred Wehrle
Services for Alfred H. “Spud” Wehrle, 79, of Norfolk will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Norfolk with burial in Crown Hill cemetery at Madison and military rites by American Legion Post 16 and VFW Post 1644 of Norfolk. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Home for Funerals.
Mr. Wehrle died Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation and Care Center.
Angie Bennett
TILDEN - Services for Angie Bennett, 42, of Tilden will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Tilden with burial in St. Mary Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brockhaus-Harlan Funeral Home in Tilden and continue at the church with a 7:30 p.m. memorial Mass.
Mrs. Bennett died Monday, April 10, 2006, at her home of cancer.
Angie K. Bennett, daughter of Charles and Kathy (Bartee) Qualset, was born March 15, 1964, at Tilden. She graduated from Elkhorn Valley High School with the class of 1982. She graduated from Joseph’s College of Beauty in Lincoln. In 1994, Angie received her degree as an LPN from Northeast Community College, and in 2000 she received her RN degree.
She was married
to Tim Bennett on Sept. 9, 1983, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Norfolk. The couple farmed south of Tilden. Angie was recently employed as an RN at Surgicenter of Norfolk. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Tilden.
Survivors include her husband, Tim, and their children, Erin and Zachary Bennett, all of Tilden; her parents, Charles and Kathy Qualset of Tilden; a brother, Curtis and his wife, Brandi Qualset of Howard, S.D.; sisters, Amy and her husband, Chad Parr of Omaha, and Alicia Qualset of Omaha; and her paternal grandmother, Mary Qualset of Albion.
Angie was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Straley and Neva Bartee of Tilden and her paternal grandfather Omer Qualset of Albion.
Beulah Erickson
NEWMAN GROVE - Services are pending at Newman Grove Memorial Funeral Home for Beulah “Bea” Erickson, 94, Newman Grove. She died Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at Mid-Nebraska Lutheran Home.
Libbie Lauda
CLARKSON - Services for Libbie Lauda, 97, formerly of Clarkson, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at New Zion Presbyterian Church in Clarkson with burial in Clarkson National Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home and after 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church.
She died Sunday, April 9, 2006, at Parkview Nursing Home in Dodge.
Memorials are suggested to the Gail Putjenter Benefit Fund or New Zion Presbyterian Church.
Libbie was born May 12, 1908, in Clarkson to John and Emilie (Buresh) Koudelka. She attended school in Clarkson. On Sept 11, 1928, she married
Joseph Lauda at New Zion Presbyterian Church in Clarkson.
Libbie was a member of New Zion Presbyterian Church for more than 75 years where she was active in Marta Circle and sang in the church choir for more than 50 years. She was also a member of Macedonia Extension Club, Eastern Star, served on the election board, worked for the Bloodmobile and was a member of ZCBJ and Women’s Club. In 1978, she received the Ak-Sar-Ben Good Neighbor award.
She loved to play cards, cook, bake, read and garden.
She is survived by her two sons, Dr. Donald (wife Sheila) Lauda of California and Robert (wife Jeanne) Lauda of Texas; and a daughter, Lorraine (Mrs. Bill) Janecek of Dodge; nine grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph in 1974, infant daughter Marcella, three brothers and three sisters.
Dr. Earl F. Underwood Jr. will officiate.
Norbert Olberding
RANDOLPH - Services are pending at Johnson Funeral Home for Norbert Olberding, 87, Randolph. He died Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home here.
Marleen Thor
WISNER - Services for Marleen (Mrs. John) Thor, 60, of Wisner will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wisner. Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m. with a vigil at 7:30 p.m. at the church. Kuzelka-Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner is in charge of arrangements.
She died Monday, April 10, 2006, at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
Helen Hayes
Services for Helen M. Hayes, 70, Norfolk, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Home for Funerals with burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hayes died Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at Faith Regional Health Services.
Helen was born on July 29, 1935, in Ponca, the daughter of Joseph and Lola Dale (Carnell) Biggerstaff. She was raised in Ponca and graduated from Ponca High School in 1952. She worked at a restaurant and a dry cleaners in Ponca.
On Nov. 17, 1956, Helen married
Martin Domsch in South Sioux City. They made their home in Ponca. Helen moved to Norfolk in 1970.
On Aug. 4, 1973, Helen married
Gail Hayes. They resided in Norfolk and moved to Colorado for a short time before returning to Norfolk. Helen was involved in home health care and apartment management, which she continued until the time of her death.
Helen is survived by her children, Joleen Domsch of Norfolk and Paul Domsch and his fiancee, Patti Long of Norfolk; her two stepchildren, Gale and Pat Hayes Jr. of Ontario, Ore., and Robert and Carolyn of Norfolk; eight grandchildren, Richard Domsch and his wife, Kim, Brett King and his wife, Summer, Andra King and her fiance, Chad, and Marissa Domsch, Paige Domsch, Robbie Hayes, Crystal Hayes and Shellby Baker; five great-grandchildren, Katlynn Domsch, Alexis Domsch, Trenton Domsch, Baiden King and Adam King; and one brother and his wife, Jim and Darlene Biggerstaff of Sioux Falls, S.D.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, two sons and two stepdaughters.
The Rev. Timothy Fleener will officiate.
Myrtle Schroerluke
Graveside services for Myrtle M. Schroerluke, 97, Norfolk, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Osmond City Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Thursday at Home for Funerals.
She died Monday, April 10, 2006, at Faith Regional Health Services.
Myrtle was born on Sept. 25, 1908, in Plainview, the daughter of August and Viora (McElhoes) Schroerluke. Her family moved to Osmond in 1910. Myrtle graduated as valedictorian of her class from Osmond High School in 1927. After graduation, she worked as a telephone operator before moving to Norfolk in 1934. She worked at the Singer store and taught sewing lessons.
On Sept. 9, 1943, Myrtle enlisted in the Waves of the U.S. Navy. She was stationed in New York, Georgia, Kansas and Illinois before her discharge on Aug. 23, 1946.
In 1947, Myrtle returned to Norfolk and began her career with Bricker’s Inc. She retired in 1981 after 34 years.
In 1953, Myrtle sponsored the family of Alfred and Barbara Eckman and their four children, who were displaced persons from Austria. She referred to their children as her surrogate grandchildren.
She enjoyed reading, sewing and knitting. Myrtle is survived by one nephew, Keith Fuelberth, of Mesa, Ariz.; several grandnieces and grandnephews; her surrogate grandchildren, Robert Eckman and Alfred Eckman Jr., both of Salt Lake City, Utah, Margaret Long of Portland, Ore., and Evelyn Leavitt of Eugene, Ore.
She was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
