Josephine Kelly

Josephine A. “Jo’’ Kelly, 85, of Sioux City, formerly of Norfolk, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, at her home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Norfolk with burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel of Sioux City.

Jo was born Jan. 1, 1921, in Beatrice, the daughter of Arlie and Mollie (Ramsey) Culver. She graduated from Beatrice High School. She earned a teacher’s certificate at Nebraska Wesleyan in Lincoln. She taught school in Beatrice and Hadar.

She married Harland W. Kelly on June 25, 1942, in Beatrice. He died Sept. 28, 1988, in Norfolk.

The couple owned and operated Kelly Monument Co. in Norfolk from 1957 until 1973. She then worked as a bookkeeper for Vit-e-min Co. in Norfolk. She moved to Sioux City in 1996 to live with her daughter.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Norfolk. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star and Beulah Chapter No. 40. She was active in the community. She enjoyed reading, sewing, painting and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include three children, Pam Kelly-Hintz of Sioux City, Roger (CoAnn) Kelly of Adel, Iowa, and Phyllis (Jerry) Johnson of Sioux City; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Kelly of Sioux City; a sister, Betty Bury of Springfield, Mo.; and nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, Michael (Molly) Hintz and their children, Erin and Amy, Jon Hintz and his son, Joseph, K.C. Kelly, Melissa Grabel, Michelle Bolton, Brian Kelly, Katie Kelly, Kyle Johnson and Cody Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two sons, Michael Kelly in infancy and Jim Kelly.

Pallbearers will be Michael Hintz, Jon Hintz, K.C. Kelly, Brian Kelly, Scott Watson and J.B. Watson. The Rev. James S. Brewer will officiate.

Norman Case

BLOOMFIELD - Services for Norman Case, 79, of Bloomfield will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Christ Memorial United Methodist Church here with burial in the Bloomfield Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday with a 7 p.m. Masonic service at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Mr. Case died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, at Creighton Area Health Services.

Norman Beckner Case was born to Dwight and Charlotte (Beckner) Case on Oct. 16, 1926, on a farm northwest of Bloomfield, the second of five children. He attended Northview School and Center High School. Following graduation from high school, he farmed with his parents.

He was married to Joan Pauline Jessen on June 14, 1953, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Bloomfield. They were the parents of three children, Randall, Kathleen and Richard. In 1953, he was drafted into the Army and served his two years in Kansas, Oklahoma and Louisiana. In 1956, he moved with his family to Bellflower, Calif., where he worked for Union Pacific Railroad, Bethlehem Steel and General Motors. In 1959, he moved with his family back to a farm north of Bloomfield where they still reside.

He enjoyed traveling and going on fishing trips with friends and family. He loved his tractors and enjoyed giving his granddaughters rides on the four-wheeler and tractors and playing with the little twins. He was a member of Christ Memorial United Methodist Church and served on the church board, American Legion Post 249, Masonic Lodge 218, Eastern Star, Yankton Elks Lodge, Lewis and Clark Shrine Club and Oriental Consistory of Yankton. He also served on the Peoria Township board and Bloomfield Pig Co-op.

Survivors include his wife, Joan; two children, Randall and his wife, Karen of Lincoln, and Richard and his wife, Nancy of Omaha; four grandchildren, Lacy Case of Columbus, Ohio, and Megan, Parker and Paige Case of Omaha; four step grandchildren, Jill, Jamie, Jacob and Joanie Hemmer; and three stepgreat-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Phyllis Sonnichsen of Creighton; sisters and brothers in law, Esther Case, Tom and Mary Trenhaile, Donald and Thelma Jessen, Gene Jessen, Arlene Barnes, Helen McCoy and Janet and Norris Gold; and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathleen, his parents and brothers Melvin, Robert and Donald.

Carleeanna Eisenbraun

WISNER - Private family services for Carleeanna Marie Eisenbraun, premature daughter of Neal and Jennifer Eisenbraun of Wisner, are being arranged under the direction of Kuzelka-Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner. Carleeanna was born Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, at Faith Regional Health Services.

John Hoferer

BLOOMFIELD - Services for John H. Hoferer, 102, of Bloomfield are pending at Brockhaus Funeral Home. Mr. Hoferer died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, at Bloomfield Good Samaritan Center.

Marvin Kahler

Marvin D. Kahler, a native of Fairbury, died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, in Louisville, Kent. Private services are being handled by Pearson Funeral Home in Lousville.

Memorials may go to Union University at Jackson, Tenn., or Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville.

Mr. Kahler was owner of Kahler Realty Co.

Survivors include his wife, the former Mary Trott; a son, Mark D. Kahler and wife Cynthia; a daughter, Mary K. Mohler and husband Dr. R. Albert; four grandchildren, Katie and Christopher Mohler and Scott and Diane Kahler; and a brother, Harold H. Kahler of West Point.

Lucille Keifer

Services for Lucille S. Keifer, 83, Celina, Ohio, formerly of Madison, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Grace Missionary Church in Celina with burial in Mercer Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home.

She died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, at a Lima, Ohio, hospital.

Memorials are directed to Grace Missionary Church.

Ramon Nielsen

WINSIDE - Services for Ramon M. Nielsen, 65, Stanton, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church here with burial and military rites at Pleasant View Cemetery.

Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Monday with family present at Schumacher-Hasemann Funeral Home in Winside.

He died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, at Faith Regional Health Services.

Ramon M. Nielsen, son of Elmer and Myrtle (Soden) Nielsen, was born Aug. 19, 1940, at Wayne. He graduated from Winside High School in 1957 then moved to California. Ramon served in the U.S. Navy from 1961 until 1965. He received the Vietnam Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.

Ramon married Linda Lewis on Sept. 7, 1968, at Reno, Nev. The couple lived in Berkeley, Calif., from 1968 until 1970, moved to Madison County until 1974, then moved to Stanton County where they lived at the present time. Ramon was employed at Affiliated Foods in Norfolk from 1971 until 2003 when he retired. He was a member of the VFW.

Ramon Nielsen is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters, Anita Sanne and Karen (John) Jarecki, all of Omaha; grandson, Mason Raymond Jarecki; brothers, Lloyd (Joan) Nielsen of Norfolk and Norris (Vicki) Nielsen of Florence, Alabama; sister, Lois McKeown of Norfolk; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law.

The Rev. Carol Jean Stapleton will officiate.

Glen Stewart

EMERSON - Services for Glen Stewart, 73, of Pender will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Emerson with burial in the Wisner cemetery at 1 p.m.

Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church with a prayer service at 7 p.m. and continue Tuesday from 9 a.m. until service time at the church. Kuzelka-Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Stewart died Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, at the Pender Care Center.
