Ramon Nielsen
WINSIDE - Services are pending at Schmacher-Hasemann Funeral Home here for Ramon Nielsen, 65, Stanton. He died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, at Faith Regional Health Services.
Arthur Primrose
PRIMROSE - A memorial service for Arthur R. Primrose, 94, Cedar Rapids, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Primrose Presbyterian Church. Levander Funeral Home is in charge.
He donated his body to the Creighton Anatomical Board. He died Monday, Jan. 23, 2006, at the Neligh Care Center.
Art was born Aug. 4, 1911, to John J. and Eliza Jane Patterson Primrose east of Primrose. He attended District 14 for his grade school years and graduated from Primrose Public High School in 1929. Art farmed at home with his brothers and worked at Coyne’s Grocery Store for a while with his sister, Alta. He then went to Ogallala and worked in a grocery store until he and his brother, Dale, started working on the Morning Glory Tower, a part of the dam on Lake McConaughy near Ogallala. It was during this time that Art and a friend were kidnapped at gunpoint and were forced to drive the gunman out into the country until they ran out of gas.
Art was drafted into the U.S. Army on May 1, 1942, and was stationed in Cheyenne, Wyo., where he married
Mary Magdalene Homan on July 5, 1942. He served in the Cyclone Division in the quartermaster ranks and was stationed overseas in the Philippine Islands. He was honorably discharged after 43 months of service in December of 1944.
After the service, he worked in construction with his brother, Jack, worked in the ordnance plant in Grand Island and sold insurance for New York Life. Art started to work at the U.S. Post Office in Omaha in 1956 and commuted there every week until he retired in 1981, after 25 years, at age 70.
Art was a lifetime member of American Legion Dan Cox Post 44 of Cedar Rapids. He was presented with a Certificate of Merit during the Memorial Day services Monday, May 25, 1998. He received his 60-year certificate of membership in 2005. Art, along with Mary, attended many county, district, state and national Legion conventions.
Art loved to travel and took his family on many vacations throughout the United States. He and Mary also traveled to Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, Ireland, England and Luxembourg. He was an avid Primrose historian and shared his information with many family members. He was a member of the Boone-Nance County Genealogy group, was a member of the Boone County Historical Society and a longtime member of the Boone County Veterans Service Board. Art also served many years as an elder for the Primrose Presbyterian Church, where he was a lifetime member.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife, Mary of Cedar Rapids; five children, Mary Kay and husband Wayne Schapper of Salinas, Calif., Virginia and husband Bill Wallace of Spokane, Wash., Don and wife Ginny Primrose of Huntsville, Ala., Bill and wife Joan Primrose of Hastings, Sue and husband Ken McIntyre of Primrose; seven grand-daughters, one grandson, three great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons; a sister, Alice Mae Babbitt of Malvern, Iowa; a brother, Dale and wife Alice Primrose of Newman Grove; a sister-in-law, Virginia Primrose of Malvern, Iowa; and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Helen and Ambrose Wlaschin of Cedar Rapids; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his parents and sister, Myrtle and Charles Channer and Alta Primrose; and brothers and their wives, Bill Primrose, George and Esther Primrose, Jack and Goldie Primrose, Frank and Olga Primrose and Don Primrose; brother-in-law, Orville Babbitt; brothers and sisters-in-laws, John and Margaret Homan, Matt and Marcella Homan and Theresa and Lavern Goering.
In our end is our beginning; in our time, infinity; in our doubt, there is believing; in our life, eternity. In our death, a resurrection; at the last, a victory, unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.
Georgia Wilke
COLUMBUS - Georgia H. Wilke, 87, of Osmond died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, at Faith Regional Health Services.
The funeral will be Sunday at 6 p.m. at Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus. Interment will be in Christ Lutheran cemetery on Monday at 9:30 a.m. A memorial service will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osmond.
Memorials are suggested to Christ Lutheran cemetery or Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osmond or donor’s choice.
Georgia Helen Wilke was born Aug. 14, 1918, in Columbus to Adolph and Emily (Loseke) Frese. She was baptized, confirmed and received her education at Christ Lutheran Church.
Georgia married
Arthur Wilke on March 5, 1940 in Blair. In October 1995, they moved to Osmond, where they were members of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Georgia is survived by her husband, Arthur Wilke of Osmond; sons and their wives, Sidney (Martha) Wilke of Eaton, Colo., Philip (Leslie) Wilke of Moreno Valley, Calif., Martin (Carol) Wilke of Boise, Idaho, David (Jean) Wilke of Greeley, Colo., Quentin (Marcille) Wilke of Garden City, Kan., Clark (Kathy) Wilke of Osmond, Colin (Janet) Wilke of Kearney, John (Evonna) Wilke of Greeley, Colo., Andrew (Donna) Wilke of Lincoln and Luke (Deborah) Wilke of Lincoln; daughters and their husbands, Gloria Wilke Miller (Rick Loock) of Lincoln and Audrey (Ernest) Sayers of Clarkson; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Emily Frese; brothers, LeRoy, Lloyd and Gerhard Frese; and sisters, Alice Frese, Dorothea Frese and Bernice Stevenson.
Evelyn Arduser
COLERIDGE - Services for Evelyn B. Arduser, 85, of Coleridge will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Coleridge with burial at the Belden Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 3 to 5:30 p.m. at Wintz Funeral Home in Coleridge and continue at the church in the evening with a vigil at 7:30 p.m.
She died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, at Faith Regional Health Services.
Evelyn Betty Arduser was born Jan. 4, 1921, in Randolph to Joseph and Clara (Weihs) Gubbels. She graduated from Randolph High School in 1940.
She married
Bernard “Barney’’ Arduser on Nov. 24, 1942, in Randolph. They farmed near Belden and moved to Coleridge in 1979. Barney died on May 29, 1990, at the age of 67 years. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and Altar Society and the Belden cemetery Association.
Evie is survived by her four sons and their spouses, Jerry “Butch’’ and Lella Arduser of Randolph, Chuck and Darlene Arduser of Belden, Rick and Lori Arduser of Coleridge and Bob and Diane Arduser of West Point; four daughters and their spouses, Sharon and Vince Sauser of Neligh, Mary and Hart Vollers of Concord, Cindy and Marlin Krohn of Norfolk and Teri and John Hoffart of Coleridge; 27 grandchildren, two step grandchildren, 11 great- grandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, Merle and Marvene Gubbels of Denison, Iowa, and Gene and Ailene Gubbels of Randolph.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Pallbearers will be Evelyn’s grandsons, Gene, Mark, Reggie, Chris, Travis, Carter Arduser, Chad and Joseph Sauser, Jay Vollers, Mike Krohn, Ben and Zachary Hoffart. Honorary pallbearers will be Evelyn’s granddaughters.
The Revs. John Pietramale and Tim Lange will officiate.
Helen Berkheimer
AINSWORTH - Services for Helen P. Berkheimer, 83, of Ainsworth will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Hoch Funeral Home in Ainsworth with burial in Grandview cemetery at Long Pine. Visitation will be at the funeral home starting Thursday.
She died Monday, Jan. 23, 2006, at the Hospice House in Omaha.
Memorials have been suggested to Cottonwood Villa or to the Ainsworth Senior Center.
Fred Bomar
PIERCE - Services for Fred L. Bomar, 79, Pierce, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church here with burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m Friday at Stonacek Memorial Chapel in Pierce.
He died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, at Faith Regional Health Services.
He was born April 6, 1926, at Sioux City, Iowa, to John C. and Viola (McFarland) Bomar. He attended Niobrara High School to 11th grade.
He married
Meldean Viergutz on April 20, 1946, at Maryville, Kan. After his marriage, he was employed with Kollman and Werner and ran businesses in Norfolk and Pierce. He worked for Anderson Brothers Plumbing and Heating of Kearney for 35 years. After retiring, he worked part time at Willow Creek State Recreation Area at Pierce.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church at Pierce.
Survivors include his wife, Meldean Bomar of Pierce; seven children and their spouses, Rita and Charles Wragge of Foster, John and Marlene Bomar of Madison, Dorothy Freudenburg of Battle Creek, Melvin and Gail Bomar of Bellwood, Mary Wragge of Pierce, Susan and Tim Hoffman of Madison and Lorie Sullivan of Pierce; son-in-law, Alvin Synovec of Kearney; 24 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Beverly, two grandchildren, one son-in-law and three brothers.
Music will be by organist Dottie Ahlers, soloist Rick Higgins and the congregation. The Rev. Gordon Bruce will officiate.
Casket bearers are David Synovec, Jeff Wragge, Brian Bomar, Brad Freudenburg, Scott Bomar, Jesse Wragge, Steve Hoffman and Nicholas Kuether. Honorary casket bearers are his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Norman Borer
COLUMBUS - Norman J. Borer, 67, of Columbus died Monday, Jan. 23, 2006, at Butler County Health Care Center in David City.
The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church with burial in All Saints cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus, with a vigil at 7 p.m., and resume there Saturday from 9 to 9:45 a.m.
Norman J. “Norm’’ Borer was born March 8, 1938, in Albion to Alphonse and Helen (Kramper) Borer. He attended school in Albion and worked on the family farm.
Norm married
Carolyn Keller on Aug. 17, 1963, in Columbus. He worked for Behlen Manufacturing for 35 years. Norm also worked for the Omaha World Herald for many years. Norm was a devoted member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed walking, reading and spending time with his grandchildren.
Norm is survived by his wife, Carol Borer of Columbus; a son, Daniel Borer of Columbus; daughters, Diann (Greg) Smith of Custer, Mont., and Deanna Buck of Creston; brothers, Leonard Borer of Elgin, Alvin (Joan) Borer of Phoenix, Ariz., and Kenneth Borer of Council Bluffs, Iowa; sisters, Laura (Ray) Salber of St. Edward and Marlene (Tom) Patezel of Wood River; granddaughters, Caitlin Buck and Kaleb Buck, both of Creston, and Alysha Borer of Columbus.
