Beverly Terry
Beverly (Coppersmith) Terry of San Bernadino, Calif., passed away Jan. 17, 2005. She was born on the family farm north of Grainton, Neb., on Oct. 24, 1935 to Harlin and Chlora Tatum Coppersmith.
She attended country school through the eighth grade then attended the Perkins County High School at Grant, Neb., and graduated in 1952. She was married to Dennis Terry and to this union four children were born.
Dennis had a career in the Air Force and they lived in many different places.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis; a son, Micheal; her parents and two brothers, Charles and Donald.
She is survived by children, Jacki and her husband John Godfredson of Highland, Calif., Robin of San Bernadino, and Mark of San Bernadino; two sisters, Lela and husband Glen Newberry of Nampa, Idaho, and Lillian and husband Dale Hanson of Elsie, Neb.; and two brothers, Louie and wife Virginia of Elsie and Lynn and wife Phyllis of Camano Island, Wash.
Eugene 'Gene' Zwickl
Eugene 'Gene' S. Zwickl was born Jan. 31, 1919 at Herndon, Kan., the son of John and Mary (Diedrich) Zwickl. He moved with his family to the Sidney, Neb., area. Gene attended St. Patrick's Academy. Gene enlisted in the U.S. Army on March 20, 1941 and served in the Philippines during WWII. He was Honorably Discharged on Jan. 10, 1946, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.
He was married to Eula Mae Whiddon in Tallahassee, Fla., in 1944. Upon his discharge they moved back to the area where Gene farmed and operated a painting service.
In 1947 a son, Daniel, was born and in 1950 a daughter, June, was born.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council and 4th Degree KC Assembly and a member of the Sidney Elks.
Gene died at Memorial Health Center in Sidney Monday evening, Jan. 17, 2005. He had reached the age of 85.
Survivors include his wife Eula of Sidney; his son and wife DeAnn Zwickl of Grant, Neb.; his daughter June Robinson of North Platte, Neb.; his grandchildren Traci Loughery, Trisha Storer, Toby Robinson, Angie Patrick, Jennifer Wise, Trent Zwickl and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 21, at St. Patrick's Parish Center in Sidney with Fr. Jim Novakowski officiating. Burial followed in the Greenwood Cemetery with military graveside honors presented by American Legion Post 17, VFW Post 610 and DAV Chapter 40. The family has designated St. Patrick's Church for the memorials.

Robin Gier
Robin Gier was born July 2, 1956 at Orange, Calif. She was the second of five children born to Don and Lois Harris Peck. The family moved to Grant in 1964 and later to Sargent, Neb. In 1968 they moved to Wallace, Neb., where Robin graduated from high school in 1974.
Robin was married to Steven Gier on June 15, 1974 at the Wallace United Methodist Church. In 1983 she began her education career by serving as a teacher's aide for the kindergarten and first grade classes in Wallace. Robin had the desire to be a certified teacher so she began her college career in 1985 at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. With night classes and summer school, she graduated with honors with a bachelor of arts in education in December of 1991. She was endorsed in elementary education in 1991 and later endorsed in special education in 1995. Robin served as a substitute teacher until 1995 when she taught the Title I program at the Grant Elementary School. She was hired as the third grade teacher in Wallace in 1996.
Robin developed a malignancy in 2000, but continued to teach school until December of 2004. She was moved to the Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte in December where she died early Wednesday morning, Jan. 12, 2005. She had reached the age of 48.
Robin was an active member of the Wallace United Church, the Wallace Legion Auxiliary, the Education Association, and the Wallace Lions Club. In addition to her third grade teaching, Robin was actively involved in the Wallace speech and drama department and appreciated the achievement of the students all the way through state competition.
Robin is survived by her husband Steve of Wallace; three daughters, Terri and husband Zach Davis of North Platte, Neb.; Laura and husband Patrick Haddix of Kearney, Neb., and Nicole Gier, presently attending school in Kearney; one son, Aaron of Lincoln, Neb.; her mother Lois of North Platte; three sisters, Dawn and husband Marvin Howery of Grant, Neb.; Kandy Peck of Omaha, Neb.; April Peck of North Platte; and one brother, Daryl and wife Tatia of Omaha; other relatives and friends.
Services were held Friday, Jan. 14, 2005 at the Wallace United Mehtodist Church, with Pastor Jurdan Counts, officiating. Burial was in the Wallace Morningview Cemetery.
Music was provided by Donna Hahn and Bill Arnett.
Casket bearers were Tim Chevalier, Randy Chevalier, Mark Brown, Glenn Ledbetter, Kory Rohde, Dale Schroeder, Stuart VanBoening, Ed Hahn.
Bullock-Long was in charge of the arrangements.
Martha "Lady" Ann Williamson Edington
Martha "Lady" Ann Williamson Edington, 90, of Wallace, Neb., died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte, Neb.
Martha was born Aug. 7, 1914 to David and Hattie Clemens Fulk on the farm 10 miles south of Wallace, where she grew up. She attended school south of Wallace on school house hill.
Martha married Virgil Roe Edington on April 4, 1930 in Holyoke, Colo. They made their home south of Wallace where they farmed and ranched until 1987 when they retired and moved into Wallace. They would have been married 75 years this coming April.
Along with the love for her family, she had a passion for cooking, going for Sunday rides and looking at the new crops, and liked to ride along when the baby calves were tagged.
Martha was a member of the Wallace United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a strong Christian woman and was always willing to share her faith.
Survivors include her husband Virgil of Wallace; a daughter Jacqueline and husband Richard "Ram" Myers of North Platte; two sons Ron and wife Lila Edington of Wallace, and Kent and wife Shelly Edington of Hershey, Neb.; eight grandchildren including Kevin and wife Patty Myers of Omaha, Syrena and husband Keith Davis, Kathy and husband Bill Mattocks and Stephanie and husband Chon Dilly all of North Platte, Rhonda and husband Scott Nelson of Sutherland, Neb., Matthew Edington of Wallace, Luke and wife Kylie Edington of North Platte, and Kassie and husband Matt Pelster of Elsie, Neb; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and other family.
She was preceded in death by three sons, Vaughn Virgil Eding-ton and infant twin sons; her parents; three brothers, Harvey Fulk, Raymond Fulk and Wilman Fulk.
The funeral service was Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005 at the Wallace United Methodist Church with Pastor Jurdan Counts officiating. Burial was in the Morningview Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to the Wallace United Methodist Church.

Geraldine Zingg
Geraldine Zingg was born on Nov. 16, 1916 at Fullerton, Neb. She was the second of five children born to Joseph and Millie Reynolds Peregrine. As a young girl the family moved to Perkins County and lived on a farmstead five miles north of Grant, Neb. The home was built by her father in the early 1920s. (Except for the first few years of her marriage, this was Gerry's home until she moved to Lincoln in 1999.)
She attended rural school and later graduated from Perkins County High School in 1934. After graduation she attended business school in Boulder, Colo. Upon completion she returned to Grant where she worked for a short time.
Geraldine was married to John Zingg on Oct. 29, 1938. She then took on the role of a farm wife and mother, which she enjoyed very much. John died in 1982 and Gerry continued to maintain the farm until 1999 when she moved to Lincoln to be closer to her daughters.
Gerry had been in failing health for the past couple of years and died at her home with her family beside her on Saturday night, Jan. 8, 2005. She had reached the age of 88.
She had always been active with her children, her church and her community. She was a member of the Sawyer and Grant View Extension Clubs. She belonged to the Eastern Star, Rebekahs, DAR, Garden Club, Wheat Hearts where she served as the Nebraska State President, and was active in the Perkins County Senior Center where she served on the board of directors. Gerry was interested in youth development and served as a Cub Scout Den Mother for her boys and a Mother Advisor for the Rainbow Girls, as well as the Perkins County 4-H organization in which she served as a leader for many years. Gerry was chosen to be the Grand Marshal of the Perkins County Parade in 1993.
She loved her church. Gerry sang in the choir for many years, led opening exercises for Vacation Bible School, was a Sunday School member and teacher, belonged to many Bible study and prayer groups. She was an active member of the United Methodist Women and served in many leadership roles and in the various circles. She also wrote a monthly column for the church newsletter. Gerry enjoyed her association with the Intervals Singing Group, which combined spiritual growth, singing, fellowship and community outreach.
Gerry enjoyed her garden and farm acreage, sharing the produce with her friends from her orchard. She especially enjoyed following her children and grandchildren's activities and always appreciated their love of music.
After she moved to Lincoln, she always encouraged her western Nebraska friends to come spend time at "Gerry's Bed and Breakfast." She lived next door to her daughter who is involved in child care and she loved watching the busy activity of Terri's "little people."
In addition to her parents and husband, Gerry was preceded in death by two sons, Dan and Jim; one sister, Dorothy Peregrine; and one brother Dale Peregrine.
She is survived by those who loved her, one son, Dean and his wife Cindy of Des Moines, Iowa; two daughters, Terri and her husband Phil Jefferson and Kerry Zingg, all of Lincoln; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Joseph "Bud" Peregrine of Endicott, Neb.; one sister, Barbara and her husband Bob Hegwood of Eagle, Wis.; and other relatives and friends including the many children in Terri's Child Care who knew her as "Grandma."
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005 at the Grant United Methodist Church with John Long officiating. Music was provided by Dolores Sexson, Donice Holaway, Church Choir, Dean Zingg and Kerry Zingg. Casket bearers were Isaac Jefferson, Gabriel Jefferson, Johnathon Cook, Michael James, Shawn Turner, Mike Carlson. Honorary escorts were Harold Hermann, Bob Sexson, Bob Ochsner, Toby Hansen, Bob Swan, and Gaylord Velte.
Burial was in the Grant Fairview Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Jan. 14, at 10:30 a.m., at the St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Lincoln with Pastor Steve Griffith officiating.
A memorial has been established to the Zingg Memorial Scholarship through the Grant United Methodist Church, Perkins County Health Services Foundation or the Grant United Methodist Women.

Kristi M. Jackman
Kristi M. Jackman, age 61, of Hays, Kan. died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005 at her home.
She was born Feb. 23, 1943, in Grant, Neb., the daughter of Charles and Marjorie (Sands) Jackman.
Survivors include two sons, Brian Thorell and wife Patsy and their children Jacob and Peyton of Hays, Kan.; and Brice Thorell and wife Jani and their two children Paige and Brooke of Holdrege, Neb.; two brothers; Roger Jackman of Naperville, Ill.; and Dave Jackman of Milwaukee, Ore. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Scott Jackman.
Funeral services will be Friday, Jan. 14, 2005 at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Delbert Stanton officiating. Burial will be in the Fort Hays Memorial Gardens.
Memorials are suggested to the charity of donors' choice in loving memory of Kristi Jackman.
Craig Allen Holm
Craig Allen Holm 45, of Wallace, Neb., died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004 at Wallace.
He was born, Nov. 30, 1959 to Albert and Constance Beveridge Holm at Sutherland, Neb. He started elementary school in North Platte, Neb., and moved to Wallace in 1967, where he attended high school. He married Joan Monahan in December of 1978. To this union two children were born, Beth and Rocky.
Craig worked with his family at Holm's Well Drilling and Holm's Cattle Company. In January 2000 he married Jenee Hill. To this union a daughter Channing was born.
Holm was a member of Wallace Roping Club, Nebraska State Rodeo Association, Mid-States Rodeo Association, Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and Wallace Gun Club. He had a special dog named "Jenny."
Survivors include his father and step-mother Albert and Pennie Holm of Wallace; two daughters, Beth and husband Jake Junker of Superior, Neb., and Channing Holm of North Platte; one son, Rocky Holm of Whitman, Neb.; one brother, Bruce and wife Deb Holm of Wallace; two granddaughters, Josie and Jamie Junker; one niece, Mindi Holm of North Platte and one nephew, Drew Holm of Ft. Collins, Colo., one step-sister, Chandra Smith; three step-brothers, Dustin and wife Robyn Smith, Thomas and David Smith all of Wallace; and numerous other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother in 2000 and an 18-month-old infant brother, Mark.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004 at First United Methodist Church in Wallace with the Rev. Jurdan Counts officiating. Burial was at the Morning View Cemetery at Wallace.
A memorial has been established in his name.

Leo Edward Schilz
Leo Edward Schilz, age 90 of Ogallala, Neb., passed away Wednesday morning, Dec. 22, 2004 at his home. He was born July 12, 1914 in McCook, Neb., the son of Jacob and Nellie (Spurgin) Schilz.
As a young man Leo worked with his father on his farm and for neighbors. In 1939 he started his employment for the McGinley family. He married Wilma Schlegel on May 6, 1941 in McCook.
In 1949 Leo went into partnership with George McGinley feeding cattle. In later years he purchased the farm and the business was known as McGinley-Schilz. Leo was the president of the corporation until 1990 and stayed active in the business for several more years.
He had been the president of the Western Irrigation Board, a founding member of the Nebraska Water Users, a member of the Nebraska Cattlemen and served on the board for Sterling Beef Company. He was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church and the Msgr. Peter J. Kenney Council No. 4979 of the Knights of Columbus. He had also served on the board of the Ogallala Community Hospital.
Leo was a great family man and especially enjoyed all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include: His wife, Wilma of Ogallala, Neb.; three sons, Dennis and wife Rexene Schilz of Brule, Neb., William and wife Margaret Schilz of Ogallala, Tom and wife Lynn Schilz of Ogallala; one daughter, Patricia and husband Dan Adams of Aurora, Colo.; son-in-law, Dr. Jack and wife Margaret Locke of Englewood, Colo.; three brothers, Bill and wife Loretta Schilz of McCook, Gene and wife Millie Schilz of Hendersonville, Tenn., Rich Schilz of Arvada, Colo.;
three sisters, Marie Hampton of Riverside, Calif., Margaret Heskett of Imperial, Neb., Florence Nelson of Arvada; 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Bernard Schilz; an infant son, Larry James Schilz, and a daughter, Leanna Rose Schilz-Locke.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, Dec. 27, at St. Luke's Catholic Church with Father John Schlaf as celebrant. Rosary was recited on Sunday, Dec. 26, at St. Luke's Catholic Church. Burial was in the Ogallala Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to St. Luke's Catholic School Foundation or the American Cancer Society in his memory.

Letha Linquist
Letha Linquist, age 94, longtime Ogallala, Neb. resident, died on Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004 at Indian Hills Manor.
Letha was born on March 13, 1910 near Macon, Mo., the daughter of William and Ida Belle Bowen Mumford. The family, which included seven brothers and one sister, moved to the Keystone, Neb., area in 1917 where Letha completed her high school years.
In 1934 Letha married Erick G. Linquist and the couple lived on the original homestead acreage of the Linquist family. Despite moving to Ogallala in 1975, both continued an active interest in the farm until Erick's death in 1995.
Mrs. Linquist was an active community worker, in her home, in her church and in the Eastern Star. She volunteered for many years as a "Pink Lady" in the Ogallala Community Hospital. Mrs. Linquist was an active member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Erick, one sister Lora McQuay, sister-in-law Elsie Walker and six brothers.
Survivors include her daughter Marilyn and her husband William Horner of Swedesboro, N.J., son Charles Linquist of Lakewood, Colo., a brother Chris Mumford and his wife Lois of Geneva, Neb.; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Services were held Monday, Dec. 20 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ with Rev. Lauran Heidenreich officiating. Rites were given by the Order of Eastern Star 142. Interment was in the Ogallala Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in her memory to the First Congregational United Church of Christ.
