Frieda E. Brennick, 93, of North Loup died Thurs., Mar. 7, 2002 at the Valley County Nursing Home in Ord.
Funeral services were held Mon., Mar. 11 at 2:30 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Michael Chase officiated. She was cremated following the services. Linda Nance was organist and Tenille Rogers was vocalist. Honorary pallbearers were Ronnie Boyce, Rich Patrick, Mike Psota, Eldon Ingraham, Harlan Green and Tom Frazer. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Hillside Cemetery in North Loup. Ord Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.

Charles Victor Desmul, 83, of Escondido, CA died Mon., Aug. 6, 2001 at his home of cancer.
A private graveside service was held at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Ryan Perkins officiated. Alhiser-Comer Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Desmul was born April 19, 1918 in Ord.

Eddie Pesek, 69, of Ord died Tues., Jan. 15, 2002 at his home in Ord.
Funeral services were held Fri., Jan. 18 at 2 p.m. at the Ord United Methodist Church. Rev. Jim Miller officiated. Linda Nance was accompanist and Amy Hornickel was soloist. Pallbearers were Jim Augustyn, Don Chalupa, Steve Conner, Larry Koncel, Casey Allen and Lumir Pesek. Honorary pallbearers were Leon Klanecky, Bud Novosad, Rollie Hansen, Eldon Trojan, Don Dimmitt, Bob Dworak, Jim Foral, Joe Nevrivy Jr., Ken Collins, Dan Bruha, Darrell Conner, Milo Florian, Eddie Silver, Marvin Belgram and John Sears. Burial was in the Ord Bohemian Cemetery in Ord. Military rites were conducted by Ord VFW Post #7029 and the Ord American Legion Post #38. Ord Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the Ord Volunteer Fire Department or the family's choice.
Mr. Pesek was born Dec. 19, 1932 on a farm in Valley County to Joseph and Mary (Pravecek) Pesek. He attended Pleasant View District #53 rural school. From 1953-1955 he served in the Korean War.
Billie Mack Tucker

Billie Mack Tucker, 79, died Thurs., Feb. 28, 2002 at US Veterans Hospital at Ft. Meade, SD.
A memorial service will be held at Bassett Methodist Church in June and graveside services following at Rose. Cremation and services were arranged by Hoch Funeral Home.
Mr. Tucker was born Aug. 22, 1922 on a farm near Broken Bow to Floyd Franklin and Neva Eraminta Rains Tucker. In 1924 he moved to Omaha with his family and to a ranch in southern Rock County in 1927. He graduated from Rock County High School in 1939 where he earned letters in football and boxing. He entered the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1940 and later worked in defense production jobs in Omaha and Seattle.
Dorothy N. Lewis

Dorothy Nell Lewis, 83, of Burwell died Sun., Feb. 23, 2003 at her home.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Fri., Feb. 28 at the First Christian Church in Burwell. Rev. Rolly Salts officiated. Burial was in the Cottonwood Cemetery in Burwell. Hitchcock Funeral Home of Burwell was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church of Burwell.
Mrs. Lewis was born may 17, 1919 to Henry DeVerre and Henrietta Florence (Engel) Cass. The family homesteaded 11 miles north of Burwell. The death of her father constituted moving to town. She was raised and educated in Burwell, graduating with the class of 1937.
On Oct. 3, 1939 she married Martin Lewis at the First Congregational Church in Omaha. The family sent 22 years traveling the world because her husband was in the Army. Traveling and living in almost every state in the union, they also spent time in Giessen, Germany and Taiwan. Her husband retired Aug. 31, 1957. The family moved to Burwell in 1958 but that did not deter their traveling. They lived in Istanbul and Adana Turkey (Incirlik AFB). They moved back to Burwell in 1964. In 1968, after working at dress shops in Oklahoma City, San Antonio, and Norfolk, she was the bridal consultant for Brandeis in Grand Island. They opened the House of Fashion in their home in Burwell and eventually, they moved the store uptown and operated it for 10 years. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 1999.

Margaret Schamp, 83, of Ord died Sat., Mar. 1, 2002 at the Valley County Nursing Home in Ord.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Fri., Mar. 7 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. Father Hugh Spanel will officiate. Pallbearers are Toby Owens, Troy, Tom and Jeff Kowalski, and Jon and Jim Sagehorn. Burial will be in the Greeley Sacred Heart Cemetery. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be Thursday from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel.

Mrs. Schamp was born Mar. 5, 1919 in Greeley to Joseph and Julia Czarnik. She attended rural school near Greeley.
On Sept. 6, 1937 she married Roman R. "Ray" Kowalski at St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island. They made their home in Greeley. In 1946 he was killed in a welding explosion accident.

Roger Duane Mottl, 65, of Malone, WA, formerly of the Ord and Arcadia, NE areas, died Sat., June 10, 2006 in Malone, WA.
A memorial service is planned in the future.
Roger was born Aug. 24, 1940 in rural Comstock, NE to Frank and Viola Mottl. He graduated from Ord High School in 1959. Following high school graduation, he served in the United States Navy for four years.
