COLUMBUS - Hulda L. Barr, 78, of Columbus, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at Columbus Community Hospital Inc.
Services are pending with Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus.
Georga B. Olmsted
ARAPAHOE -- Georga B. Olmsted, 93, of Arapahoe died Saturday (Oct. 27, 2001) at Cambridge Memorial Hospital at Cambridge.
She was born April 15, 1908, at Hendley to Frank and Lora (Mellinger) Bruening. She was a life long resident of Furnas County. She graduated from Beaver City High School with the class of 1925. Following graduation she taught rural county school for three years.
On June 15, 1928, she married
Lloyd Olmsted at Hendley. They farmed north of Beaver City and east of Arapahoe for a number of years. They moved into Arapahoe in 1953 and continued to farm until the mid 1970s when they retired. He preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 1988. She moved to C. A. Mues Nursing Home in Arapahoe in February of 1997.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Beaver City before transferring to First United Methodist Church in Arapahoe. She was also a member of the Methodist Quilting Club, United Methodist Women and Arapahoe Country Extension club.
She was preceded in death by parents; her husband, Lloyd in 1988; an infant son; one daughter, Delores Wurm in 1999; one brother, Wendell Bruening in 1992; one grandson, Warren Carpenter in 1957; one great-granddaughter, Bernadette Carpenter and son-in-law, George Best in 2000.
Survivors include two sons, Delbert Olmsted and wife, Peggy of Lincoln, and Clinton Olmsted and wife, Ardella of Arapahoe; one daughter, Corinne Best of Orlando, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Arapahoe with the Rev. Hyeongdong Baek officiating. Interment will be at the Arapahoe cemetery in Arapahoe
Visitation is tonight until 8 p.m. at Williamson-Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe, and prior to services Tuesday at the church.

Lester C. Powers
TRENTON -- Lester C. Powers, 83, of Trenton, died Friday (Oct. 26, 2001) at Community Hospital of McCook.
He was born Aug. 5, 1918, at Trenton to Charles Franklin and Anna Catherine (Morgan) Powers. He grew up at Trenton, and graduated from Trenton High School in 1936.
On April 1, 1942, he entered the U.S. Army, serving in the European Theater with he 90th Division, 357th Infantry, during World War II.
On Feb. 3, 1944, he married
Dorothy Irene Goodwin of McCook at Fort Dix, N.J.. Following his discharge from the military on Oct. 29, 1945, they moved to Trenton where he was elevator manager for Krotter and Wellett. In 1964 they purchased the Trenton Register. A year later they purchased the Culbertson Progress and combined the two papers into the Hitchcock County News. He retired in 1978.
He was a life long member of St. James Catholic Church, the American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars in Trenton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter-in-law, Peggy Davis Powers; one brother, Elmer Powers; and three sisters, Irene Robarchek, Bertha Watson and Edith Frank Faimon.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Trenton; two sons, Charles Powers and wife, Patricia of McCook, and Edward Powers and wife, Beverly of Trenton; three daughters, Carol Barraza and husband, Daniel of Denver, Colo., Janet Aramayo of Trenton, and Joyce Tunink and husband, Doug of Randolph; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial services will be Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at St. James Catholic Church in Trenton. Interment with military honors will be at St. James cemetery in Trenton. The rosary service will be tonight, 7:30 p.m., at St. James Catholic Church.
Memorials may be given in his name, and friends may call at Herrmann Funeral Chapel of Trenton.

Dennis Willison
HOWELLS - Dennis R. Willison, 52, of Howells, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at his farm.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church at Monroe with the Rev. Bev Minor officiating. Burial will be at New Hope cemetery at Monroe.
Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. Friday with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at the Svoboda Funeral Home North Chapel in Schuyler and will continue from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Mr. Willison was born Dec. 13, 1949, at Carroll, Iowa, to William A. Jr. and Beulah (Hupp) Willison. He graduated from Scranton High School in Scranton, Iowa, in 1968 and from Iowa Barber's College in 1969.
He married
Barbara Lalor on Oct. 11, 1970, at Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was the manager of a hog confinement and a farmer. He had lived in the Howells area since 1987. He raised Rottweilers and Rat Terriers. He loved to garden.
Survivors include his wife of Howells; three sons, Chad (Jody) Willison of Creston, Jeremy Willison of Lincoln and Cory Willison of West Point; five sisters, Sandra (Dennis) Moorehead of Winter Haven, Fla., Patti (Larry) Miller of Harlan, Iowa, Linda (Harry) Smith of Webster City, Iowa, Karen VanHorn of Jefferson, Iowa, and Sharon (Dennis) Steigerwalt of Gallitan, Mo.; three brothers, Roger (Theresa) Willison of Lohrvillle, Iowa, Stanley (Kathy) Willison of Olathe, Kan. and Jeff (Diane) Willison of Humbolt, Iowa.
Elizabeth Joseph
CAMBRIDGE -- Mary Elizabeth Joseph, 85, died Saturday (Oct. 27, 2001) at the Cambridge Manor.
She was born May 29, 1916, at Wilcox to Edward Thomas Sr. and Grace Ella (Hutchison) Purinton. The family moved to Cambridge during the 1920s. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1933.
On March 17, 1941, she married
Harold L. Joseph. They lived and farmed north of Cambridge. They retired to Cambridge in 1977. He preceded her in death on Nov. 10, 1991.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Friendship Coffee Club, and the 20th Century Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; one sister, Helen Ardis Purinton; and an infant daughter, Donna.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Kay Sexton and husband, Dan, Gloria Hilton and husband, Gerald, all of Cambridge, and Nancy Cruise and husband, Russ of Loomis; one son, Paul and wife, Kathy of Alma; one brother, Edward T. Jr., and wife, Maxine of Cambridge; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Cambridge with the Rev. Art Phillips officiating. Interment will be at the Fairview Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in her name and left at Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge.

Frances Brown
COLUMBUS - Frances Brown, 85, of Columbus died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at Arbor Manor in Fremont.
Services are pending with McKown Funeral Home in Columbus in charge of arrangements.
Doris M. Fimple
INDIANOLA -- Doris M. Fimple, 77, died Monday (Oct. 29, 2001) at her home in Indianola.
She was born Aug. 20, 1924, at Mishawaka, Ind., to Everett and Mildred (Love) Shaw.
She served during World War II as a nurse at Camp Attbury in Indiana.
On April 29, 1950, she married
Ernest Fimple at Mishawaka. They made their home north of Indianola on the family farm.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest on Nov. 4, 2000; and one sister, Betty Peters.
Survivors include four daughters, Beverly Bloyd and husband, Monte of Hastings, Mary Anne Fimple of McCook, Janice Sides and husband, Pat of Bartley, and Donna Brown and husband, John of Indianola; one son, David Fimple and wife, Catrina of Mccook; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday, 11 a.m., at the Church of Christ at Indianola with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating.
