Marcel Andel
SCHUYLER -- Marcel Frank Andel, 69, of Schuyler, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, at Alegent Health Memorial Hospital in Schuyler.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Schuyler with the Rev. Gerald Leise officiating. Burial will be at Schuyler Cemetery.
Visitation will be until 8 p.m. today and 9-10:15 a.m. Thursday, all at Svoboda Funeral Home North Chapel in Schuyler.
Mr. Andel was born July 24, 1932, in rural Butler County, near Appleton, to Frank and Veronica (Janak) Andel. He was educated at Appleton grade school and David City High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He lived on the farm near Appleton until moving to Schuyler in 1958. He continued to farm in Butler County and was an avid outdoorsman.
He married
Dolores Sedlacek on Aug. 9, 1958, in Schuyler.
He was a member of the church, past member of McLeod Post 47 of the American Legion and Hespen-Mitchell Post 4836 of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jim (Brenda) Andel and Steve Andel, all of Lincoln; one grandson; three sisters, Martha Sejkora of Arizona, Elsie Smola of Dwight and Mary Ann Romshek of Bellwood; two brothers, George Andel and Robert Andel, both of David City.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Larry Vetick
OMAHA - Larry E. Vetick, 65, of Omaha, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha.
Services are 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus with the Rev. Tom Weisbecker officiating. Burial will be at All Saints cemetery in Columbus.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Rosary on Friday at the McKown Funeral Home in Columbus. Visitation will continue from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Vetick was born March 30, 1937, in Nance County to Adam and Frances Vetick. He attended rural Nance County schools and later worked for Behlen Manufacturing in Columbus. He moved to Omaha where he worked for Central Van and Storage and was currently dock foreman for Ring Brothers Trucking in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Survivors include three brothers, Fred (Shirley) Vetick, Richard (Alyce) Vetick, all of Columbus and Bernard (Pat) Vetick of Silver Creek; three sisters, Phyllis (Andrew) Volnek and Irene Volnek, all of Columbus and Delores (Edwin Tomasiewicz of Lindsay; one sister-in-law, Ellen Vetick of Omaha.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant brother, Dennis Vetick; one brother, Chloris Vetick and one brother-in-law, Mike Volnek.
Memorials may be directed to St. Bonaventure Church or donor's choice.
Florence Graves
OBERLIN -- Florence Graves, 81, died Wednesday (Oct. 24, 2001) at Cedar Living Center in Oberlin.
She was born Jan. 25, 1920, at rural Jennings, Kan., to Frank and Anna (Fiala) Krizek. She grew up on a farm north of Jennings in Decatur County. She graduated from Jennings High School.
She married
Vollie Kathka. He preceded her in death.
On Aug. 9, 1952, she married
Herbert C. Graves at Oberlin. She was a homemaker, and babysat children for many years. She was a member of the Oberlin United Methodist Church, and the Rebekahs.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; an infant brother, Jerry Krizek; and one grandson, Scott Mowrey.
Survivors include two daughters, Iris Benton and husband, Howard of Vienna, Vir., and Yvonne A. Rolfe and Lou Carrillo of Kinsley, Kan.; three brothers, Roger Krizek and wife, Coralee of McCook, Galen Krizek and wife, Joyce of Pueblo, Colo., and Francis Krizek and wife, Thresia of Oberlin; three sisters, Goldie Moore of Loveland, Colo., Aleen Scott and husband, Don of Oberlin, and Lela Benton and husband, Jack of Oberlin; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be Monday, 10 a.m., at Pauls Funeral Home of Oberlin with the Rev. Doub Hasty officiating. Interment will be at the Big Timber cemetery at rural Jennings.
Visitation will be Sunday, 1 to 8 p.m., and Monday, 8 a.m. until the time of the service.
Memorials may be given in her name to the Cedar Living Center.

Faye Alice Laird
Faye Alice Laird, 96, of Hayes Center died Monday (October 22, 2001) at Community Hospital of McCook.
She was born July 12, 1905, to Rufus and Fannie Elizabeth (Paxton) Mintling in Hayes County. She attended school in Hayes County.
On Dec. 24, 1924, she married
Clayton Laird at the home of Albert Schuman. She taught in the rural Hayes County Schools in 1925 and 1926. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Union Congregational Church, and the Women's Fellowship and Worthwhile Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clayton in 1974; and seven brothers and sisters, Leslie, Willard, Elsie, Harvey, Ferne, Ava and Ora.
Survivors include her daughter, Byrdine McCall and husband, Bob of The Woodlands, Texas; two sons, Clayton Laird and wife, Lois of The Woodlands, and Scott Laird and wife, Patty of Hayes Center; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday, at 2 p.m. at the Union Congregational Church in Hayes Center with the Rev. Raymond Laird officiating. Interment will be at the Hayes Center Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m, . at the Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook.
Memorials may be given in her name.

Austin Jacob Kotschwar
Austin Jacob Kotschwar, infant son of Steve J. and Rachelle J. (Heath) Kotschwar, died Saturday (October 20, 2001) at Community Hospital of McCook.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Russell Ambler; great-grandparents, Huel Payton and Pauline Inman, Anastasia Kotschwar, and Clinton and Mary Heath.
Survivors include his parents, Steve and Rachelle Kotschwar of McCook; two brothers, Tyler and Aaron of the home; grandparents, Geri Ambler of Cozad, Bob and Gloria Heath of Belgrade, Kent & Phyllis Kotschwar of McCook; and his great-grandmother, Adah Ambler of Cozad.
Graveside services will be Thursday, 11 a.m., at Memorial Park cemetery with the Rev. Bruce Lester officiating. Memorials may be given in his name.

Adolph Polivka
BRUNO -- Adolph Polivka, 85, of Bruno died Sunday Jan. 27, 2002.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Bruno with the Rev. James Cooper officiating. Burial will be at Holy Trinity cemetery in Brainard with military honors.
Visitation will be noon-7:30 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. rosary on Wednesday, all at Knott Funeral Home in David City.
