Theodore Stanely Jarecke
ST. EDWARD -- Theodore S. Jarecke, 87, of St. Edward, died Friday, June 14, 2002, at Boone County Health Center, Albion.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday at St. Edward Catholic Church with the Rev. Jim Novotny officiating. Burial in Valley View Cemetery, Genoa, with military rites accorded by the Crosier American Legion Post No. 226, St. Edward.
Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. today at the Miller-Levander Funeral Home, St. Edward, and 7 p.m. today at the church, with a 7:30 p.m. wake service.
Mr. Jarecke was born April 7, 1915, in Genoa, a son of the late Stanley and Domicela (Shotkoski) Jarecke. He was baptized at the St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Krakow. He attended Nance County School District No. 63, west of Genoa. On July 10, 1941, he joined the U.S. Army, and was honorably discharged Oct. 10, 1945.
He was married
to Lillian J. Ziemba on May 3, 1948, at the St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Krakow.
They farmed the family's home place west of Genoa until the early 1970's. In 1979, the couple moved to St. Edward.
Mr. Jarecke had been a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and Holy Name Society, Genoa, until his move to St. Edward, at which time he joined St. Edward Catholic Church.
He was also a member of Crosier American Legion Post No. 226 of St. Edward. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards.
Survivors include his wife; and brother Art Jarecke of Genoa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Christine Oseka; and three brothers: Ralph, John and Ben.
Edna Ferris
GENOA -- Edna Ferris, 94, of Genoa, died Thursday, June 13, 2002, at Columbus Community Hospital.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church, Genoa, with the Rev. Hugo Westphal officiating. Burial in Silver Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Patrick Funeral Chapel, Genoa.
Mrs. Ferris was born May 30, 1908, in Aliceville, Kan., to Alfred and Carrie (Hodge) Hinkle. The family moved to Silver Creek when she was 5 years old. She graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1929.
On Aug. 21, 1929, she was married
to Clarence Ferris at Columbus Courthouse. The couple farmed in the Silver Creek area until they moved to Genoa in 1936.
She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and she was a Sunday School teacher and part of the Sunday School Education Club.
Survivors include a son, Charles, of Genoa and daughter Doris (Raymond) Olson of Genoa; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Richard, and infant twins.
Memorials can be made to the United Methodist Women and the United Methodist Church, Genoa.
Maxine Schmid
SCHUYLER - Maxine Schmid, 70, of Schuyler died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at the Butler County Health Care Center in David City.
Funeral services are pending with the Svoboda Funeral Home in Schuyler in charge of arrangements.
Raymond A. Wilson
COLUMBUS - Raymond A. Wilson, 93, of Bellwood died Saturday, March 3, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare in Columbus.
Services are pending with Gass-Haney Funeral Home in Columbus.
Agnes Indra
CLARKSON - Agnes S. Indra, 86, died March 1, 2001, at the Central City Care Center in Central City.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at New Zion Presbyterian Church in Clarkson with the Rev. Dr. Earl F. Underwood Jr. officiating. Burial is at Clarkson National cemetery in Clarkson.
Visitation is 2-7 p.m. today at Miller Funeral Home in Clarkson and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday at the church.
Mrs. Indra was born Nov. 14, 1914, at Clarkson to John and Agnes (Klamp) Lacina. She attended Clarkson schools.
She married
Robert Indra Aug. 20, 1934, in Schuyler. She lived most of her life in the Clarkson area and in 1997 moved to Central City.
She loved to travel, garden, cook, sew, read and spend time with her pets. She was a member of the church.
Survivors include one daughter, Lylus (Don) Franzen of Central City; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Helen Knorr of Schuyler and Rose Pedley of Lehigh Acres, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband in September 1993; two brothers, Amos Lacina and Joseph Lacina; and one sister, Bessie Lacina.
Robert P. Young
ELWOOD -- Robert P. Young, 91, died Tuesday (Oct. 16, 2001) at the Elwood Care Center in Elwood.
He was born July 26, 1910, on a farm southeast of Culbertson to Francis Paul and Dora Anne (Leffler) Young. He graduated from Hayes County High School in 1928, and attended the University of Nebraska for one year.
On Sept. 7, 1935, he married
Velda K. May at McCook. They lived in Southwest Nebraska until 1941, he began working for the FAA at Phillip, S.D. They returned to Hayes Center one year later where he was stationed until 1950 when the facilities were moved to Imperial. He became chief of the Imperial Station in 1959. He retired in 1970 after 29 years of service. In 1999, he moved to the Elwood Care Center where he spent the rest of his life.
He was a past president of the Imperial Rotary Club, and a member of both the Palisade and the Imperial Masonic Lodges. He was awarded the Jordan Medal for his membership of more than 50 years in October 1994 by the Palisade Lodge. He was also a supporter of the United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Velda; one son, Dirk; one daughter, Cheryl; two brothers, Clifford and Clarence; and one sister, Ramona Low.
Survivors include one daughter, Diann McClatchey and husband, David of Eustis; one son-in-law, Richard Rassfeld of Holiday Island, Ark.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Saturday, 9 a.m. MDT, at the Palisade cemetery in Palisade. Memorial services will follow at 11:30 a.m. MDT at the United Methodist Church of Imperial with the Rev. Murray Schmechel officiating.
Visitation will be Friday, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. MDT, at Liewer Funeral Home of Imperial.
Memorials may be given in his name to the United Methodist Church of Imperial, or the Elwood Care Center of Elwood. Liewer Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
