Lambert A. Zoucha
CLARKS -- Lambert A. Zoucha, 81, of Clarks, died Friday, June 14, 2002, at his home.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday, June 17, at St. Peters Catholic Church, Clarks, with the Rev. Don Cleary officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Clarks.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today at the church, with a prayer vigil at 7 p.m. Arrangements were made by Solt Funeral Home, Central City.
Mr. Zoucha was born Aug. 13, 1920, in Merrick County to Jacob J. and Josephine (Lassek) Zoucha. He graduated from high school in Clarks then moved to Buffalo, N.Y., to work in the experimental department of the Curtis-Wright airplane factory.
He was married
to Clara D. Zegar on Aug. 20, 1942, at the Immaculate Conception Church, Buffalo. The couple moved back to a farm Clarks in 1945, where Clara still resides.
Mr. Zoucha enjoyed inventing things. He loved music, and was able to play five different instruments: The trumpet, clarinet, accordion, violin and piano. He was a member of the Zoucha Polish Music Orchestra.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters: Judy Brown and Laurie (Jim) Wruble, all of Clarks, and Marilyn (Rob) Arnald of Grand Island; one son: Jim (Lisa) Zoucha of Orchard; sister Marie Zoucha of Clarks; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by infant brother Joseph; brothers Ben and Adrian; infant sister Gertrude and sister Marcy Janovec.
Memorials can be made to the family and St. Francis Hospice.
Dennis Brooks Schnell
NORTH PLATTE -- Dennis Brooks Schnell, 81, died Tuesday (Oct. 9, 2001) at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte after a lengthy illness.
He was born Feb. 7, 1920, on the family farm near Harvard to Conrad and Mary Margaret (Schlitt) Schnell. The family moved to a farm near Goodland, Kan., when he was three years old. He graduated from Goodland High School in 1938. He worked several jobs during high school, including planting and harvesting crops. After graduation, he went to work for Taylor's Grocery in Goodland.
On Aug. 20, 1939, he married
Nina Gail Day at her parents' sod home near Ruleton, Kan. He attended school in Wichita, Kan., to learn to design and build airplanes. He was employed by Boeing Aircraft as a pattern maker.
In 1945 the family moved to a farm in Colorado, and one year later, moved to McCook. He started a partnership pouring cement, and began building houses to sell.
He built the Silver Leaf Motel in Culbertson, which he and his wife ran for seven years. They then traded the motel for a farm near Seibert, Colo. They then returned to Kansas and he was again employed by Boeing. The family moved back to Colorado where in addition to farming, he owned and operated a terracing business. He also operated a small dairy, building a small herd.
The family moved to Wellfleet, where he was active in the Wellfleet Methodist Church, and was instrumental in establishing Medicine Valley High School in Curtis. He and his wife moved to North Platte, and where he took classes and became a real estate salesman. After retiring, they moved to a home a Jeffery Lake near Brady, and joined the Banner Methodist Church. They lived there for 10 years, before returning to North Platte in 1993.
Survivors include his wife, Nina of North Platte; four children, Larry Schnell and wife, Marilyn of North Platte, Linda Strohfus of Brandon, Fla., Cheryl Ruder of Ventura, Calif., and Gary Schnell of Tempe, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday, 2 p.m., at the Calvary Baptist Church in North Platte with the Rev. Robert Payne officiating. Interment will be at the Gothenburg Cemetery. Visitation is today until 9 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte.
Memorials may be given in his name to the Calvary Baptist Church in North Platte.
Carpenter Memorial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Ervin W. Gerver
Ervin W. Gerver, 89, died Monday (October 8, 2001) at Hillcrest Nursing Home.
He was born July 6, 1912, at Champion to Ruel Martin and Iva Clarise (Terwilliger) Gerver.
On Nov. 27, 1933, he married
Dorothy J. Toohey at St. Francis, Kan. In 1951, they moved to McCook. He worked for the Department of Roads for 25 years, retiring in 1975.
He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two daughters, Clara Ruth and JoAnn.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of McCook; one son, Gene Gerver and wife, Joan, of McCook; daughter, Alice J. O'Dea and husband, Patrick of North Platte; two sisters, Agnes Carson of York, and Vola Fenner and husband, Albert of Goodland, Kan.; nine grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday, 2 p.m., at Carpenter Breland Memorial Chapel in McCook with the Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Thurman officiating. Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation is today until 5:00 p.m., and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Memorials may be given in his name.

Pauline Leaders
SCHUYLER - Pauline L. Leaders, 88, of Omaha, formerly of Schuyler, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, at Bishop Clarkson Memorial Hospital in Omaha.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at the Christ United Methodist Church in Schuyler with the Rev. Janice Soule officiating. Burial will be at the Schuyler Cemetery.
Visitation will be today until 8 p.m. at the Kracl Funeral Chapel in Schuyler with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. and Friday from 10-11 a.m. at the church.
Mrs. Leaders was born June 28, 1912, in Colfax County to Joe and Stazie (Pytlicek) Holoubek and graduated from Schuyler High School in 1931.
She lived most of her life in Schuyler and worked at Schuyler Memorial Hospital as a nurse's aide from 1955-74.
She was a member of the church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Gold Star Mothers and the Schuyler Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include three sons, Ron (Shirley) Longacre of Bellevue, Mick of Omaha and Ted (Lana) Longacre of Omaha; three daughters, Gayle (Harold) Ladehoff of Schuyler, Linda Gilbert of Omaha and Kathy (Don) Brink of Wichita, Kan.; two sisters, Edith Bogner and Louise Meredith, both of Columbus; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husbands Ted Longacre, Ben Freeman and Ralph Leaders; one sister, Mildred Vondracek; and a brother, Francis "Lucky" Holoubek.
Memorials are suggested to the church or Schuyler Senior Citizens Center.
Emil Kunhart
SCHUYLER - Emil M. Kunhart, 96, of Schuyler died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Alegent Health Memorial Hospital in Schuyler.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Christ United Methodist Church in Schuyler with the Rev. Dana Stout officiating. Burial is at the Schuyler Cemetery.
Visitation is from noon-8 p.m. Monday at Kracl Funeral Chapel in Schuyler. Family will receive friends 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday.
