Harlan Schott
BRIGHTON, Colo. - Harlan C. Schott, 73, of Brighton, Colo., died Wednesday, April 18, 2001, at Porter Hospice in Denver.
Services are 1 p.m. Monday with a graveside service at St. John's Lutheran cemetery in Battle Creek.
Mr. Schott was born Feb. 3, 1928, in Omaha to Carl and Anna (Dinkel) Schott.
He married
Shirley F. McClendon on June 25, 1971, in Brighton.
He worked as a warehouse manager at United Power, retiring in 1990 after 25 years of service. He was involved with the Brighton community for more than 40 years. He worked for the Brighton Police Department in 1960-61 and with the Ambulance Corp. in the 1960s and 1970s. He owned and operated S & S Security in Brighton.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing and sponsored many softball teams in Brighton. He was a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Marilyn Sode of Augusta, Kan., and Sherry Pfeifer of Columbus; two sons, Ronald Schott of Milliken, Colo., and Wayne Schott of Madison; one stepdaughter, Julee Kramer of Eagle, Colo.; and one stepson, Steven Sanders of Fort Lupton, Colo.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Wilma Laubch; and one grandson.

Lillian J. Best
Lillian J. Best, 76, died Saturday (Oct. 6, 2001) at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.
She was born Aug. 25, 1925, at McCook, to Henry and Catherine (Sak) Hoff. She grew up in McCook and graduated from McCook High School.
On June 16, 1946, she married
Ellwood Robert Best at McCook. They spent their married
lives in McCook. She was employed as a receptionist at First National Bank in McCook from 1962 until her retirement in 1987.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church, Eureka Chapter No. 86, Order of Eastern Star, all of McCook.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ellwood on Dec. 31, 2000; and 10 brothers and sisters. Survivors include two sons, Robert Best and wife, Tish of Columbia, Md., and Scott Best and wife, Joanna of Erie, Colo.; two daughters, Debra Brandt and husband, Gary of Lincoln, and Jill Royse and companion Barry Ellis of McCook; 11 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at the First Congregational Church in McCook with the Rev. Phil Ewert officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park cemetery in McCook.
Memorials may be given in her name, and friends may call today at Herrmann Funeral Home in McCook.

Beate Wacha
SCHUYLER -- Beate Wacha, 96, of Fremont, formerly of Schuyler, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001, at Arbor Manor Nursing Home in Fremont.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Svoboda Funeral Home South Chapel in Schuyler with the Rev. Dana Stout officiating. Burial will be at Schuyler Cemetery.
Visitation will be 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Wacha was born July 24, 1905, in Schuyler to William A. and Lucy (Prokes) Dworak. She attended Schuyler Public Schools and graduated in 1923. She was a homemaker.
She married
Arnold Wacha on June 6, 1928, in Omaha.
She had been a resident of Arbor Manor since July 1999.
Survivors include two nieces, Joan (Jack) Warriner of Tulsa, Okla., and Judy England of Neosho, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 7, 1971; one sister, Alma Gunn; and three brothers, John Dworak, Philip Dworak and Robert Dworak.
Edgar S. Johnson
DENVER, Colo. -- Edgar S. Johnson, 63, died Sunday (Oct. 7, 2001) at Presbyterian St. Luke's Hospital in Denver. He was born Sept. 29, 1938, at Denver to Edgar C. and Marie C. (Miller) Johnson.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, and had worked for 7-UP Bottling Company, Sears, and was a self-employed manuscript typist.
On Sept. 8, 1962, he married
Vera D. Reuber at St. John's Lutheran Church in Denver. He and his wife considered Atwood to be their second home.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Denver, and a Boy Scout leader for Troop 199 of Denver.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vera on Oct. 6, 1996; and one brother, Richard Johnson.
Survivors include one son, Edgar "Eddie" Johnson of Denver; one brother, Larry and wife, Sandra of Meeker, Colo.; his mother-in-law, Rosie Reuber of Atwood; one nephew, Joshua Johnson; one niece, Beth Johnson; and two aunts, Velma Norman of Denver, and Toots Enlow of Morrison, Colo.
Services will be Friday, 2 p.m., at the Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church in Atwood with the Rev. Don White officiating. Interment will be at the Atwood Fairview cemetery in Atwood. Military rites will be provided by the Sam Hubbard American Legion Post. No. 46 of Atwood.
Visitation will be Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., at Brantley Funeral Home of Atwood, and Friday, 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home, and from noon until the time of the service at the church.
Memorials may be given in his name to the Redeemer Lutheran Building Fund in Atwood, or to Boy Scout Troop 199 in Denver.

Loyal Petersen
OSMOND -- Loyal Francis (L.F.) Petersen, 86, of Osmond died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at the Osmond General Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Osmond with the Rev. Alexander Wild officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic cemetery in Osmond.
Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Wednesday at the Ashburn Funeral Home in Osmond and will continue at 7 p.m. at the church followed by a rosary at 7:30 p.m. by Catholic Order of Foresters.
Mr. Petersen was born Feb. 17, 1915, at Opportunity (near O'Neill) to Henry and Agnes (Theisen) Petersen. Shortly afterward, the family moved to California where his father died. Then the family moved back to the Osmond area when he was 3 years old. He was educated at St. Mary's Catholic School in Osmond, and graduated from Osmond High School in 1934.
He married
Genevieve Pearl Stamper in Osmond.
He was an active member of the community for over 65 years as a business owner. His business was Petersen & Son Inc., and included Zimmatic center pivot irrigation, grain bins, buildings, fertilizer and chemical sales and service with three additional store locations in Hartington, O'Neill and Centerville, S.D. The company received top dealer awards from Lindsay Mfg. Co., Superior Grain Bins and Grain Systems Inc. throughout the years. He held patents on the "Petersen SurStop" and "Petersen RainStop" for use on center pivots.
He had a Petersen Agri Sales in Columbus.
He was a member of the church and served as trustee for many years as well as belonged to the Catholic Order of Foresters for 60 years.
He loved to play cards, spend time with friends, recycle, show family photos and participate in selling raffle tickets for benefits.
Survivors include one son, Gerald (Donna) Petersen of Battle Creek; five daughters, Joan (Jack) Leuck of Pekin, Ill., Diane (Tom) Borst of Osmond, Linda (Joe) Berzina of Rapid City, S.D., Mary (Stanley) Wragge of Norfolk and Ann Petersen (Alan McCall) of Corrales, N.M.; 18 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and one stepsister, Angela Craven.
He was preceded in death by his wife on March 5, 2001; three brothers, Kenneth Petersen, Woodrow Petersen and Palmer Petersen; one daughter-in-law, Joyce Addison Petersen; stepfather, Henry Borgmann; four stepbrothers and three stepsisters.
