Keatian P. Petters
Wakefield Resident, 15 Months
Keatian Patrick Petters, 15 months old son of Gary and Carmon (Locker) Petters of Wakefield died Wed., Sept. 18, 2002 in a drowning accident.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Sat., Sept. 21, at Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell. Burial was in the Cottonwood Cemetery in Burwell. Rev. Mark Middendorf officiated. Hitchcock Funeral Home of Burwell was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Keatian was born June 12, 2001 at St. Paul to Gary and Carmon Petters. His family moved near Wakefield in July of 2001.
Survivors include his parents of Wakefield; three brothers, Brandon Martian, Wyatt Martian and Michael Parker, all of Wakefield; grandparents, Ken Locker of Burwell, and Craig and Kathy Petters of Chandler, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Marilyn Locker, and three great-grandparents.
Marjorie I. Elliott
Arcadia Resident, 85
Marjorie Irene Elliott, 85, of Arcadia died Mon., Mar. 3, 2003 at Rose Lane Nursing Home in Loup City.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Fri., Mar. 7 at the Arcadia United Methodist Church. Rev. Gary J. Aten will officiate. Organist will be Kathy Fowler and soloist is Bonnie Sekutera. Pallbearers are grandchildren and spouses, Mike and Anne Elliott, Michelle Barker, Anna and Gage Nichols, Steven Einspahr, Teresa and Bob Smith, Debbie and Jeff Miller, Kevin and Kay Einspahr, Jennifer and Scott Svoboda, Alison and Bill Garrelts, Robert and Susan Crockett, Libby and Daryl Berry and Shawn Crockett. Honorary pallbearers are her 16 great-grandchildren. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be Thurs., Feb. 7 from 5-8 p.m. at the Arcadia United Methodist Church.

George Christensen
Minden Resident, 84
George Christensen, 84, of Minden died Wed., Oct. 15, 2003 at the Long Term Care Unit of the Kearney County Health Services.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Mon., Oct. 20 at the Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Minden. Rev. Dr. Berke Landrum officiated. Burial was in the Minden Cemetery. Layton Funeral Home of Minden was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the Minden Volunteer Fire Department.
Mr. Christensen was born Apr. 17, 1919 on a farm south of Norman to George and Emma (Paulsen) Christensen. He grew up in the Norman area and graduated from Norman High School.
On June 27, 1951 he married Doris Fry. The couple lived and farmed in the Norman area. In 1996 he retired but continued to live on the home place, where he was born. They lost their family farm home in June of 1983 when it was struck by lightning. They rebuilt on the same site.
Elvin J. Voorhees
Scotia Resident, 86
Elvin J. Voorhees, 86, of Scotia died Tues., Sept. 17, 2002 at his home in Scotia.
Funeral services were held Fri., Sept. 20 at 10:30 a.m. at the Scotia United Methodist Church. Rev. Bruce Phillips officiated. Mary Fox was the accompanist and Melvin Schoemaker. Pallbearers were Darrel Vance, Jay Meyer, Jim Brown, Nick Clement, Allen Keep and John Farrell. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Scotia. Ord Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Voorhees was born May 20, 1916 to Charles and Alma (Keep) Voorhees in the Fish Creek area east of Scotia. The family later moved to Lamartine, southeast of Scotia. He graduated from Scotia High School in 1934.
Dale A. Holmes
Ord Resident, 84
Dale Arthur Holmes, 84, of Ord, formerly of Arcadia died Sun., Feb. 23, 2003 at the Valley County Nursing Home in Ord.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thurs., Feb. 27 at the United Methodist Church in Arcadia. Rev. Doug Jones officiated. Burial was in the Arcadia Cemetery in Arcadia. Govier Brothers Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church in Arcadia.
Mr. Holmes was born Mar. 6, 1918 to Benjamin Franklin and Mae Etta (Teeter) Holmes on a farm east of Arcadia where he lived his entire life. He attended Glendale School where he had a perfect attendance record for the entire eight years. He farmed all his life, first with his parents and then with his brothers, Alvin and Earl. They took pride in the polled Hereford cattle they raised.
James F. Svoboda
Burwell Resident, 91
James "Jim" Fred Svoboda, 91, of Burwell died Sat., Aug. 16, 2003 at his home.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tues., Aug. 19 at the First Christian Church in Burwell. Burial was in the Cottonwood Cemetery in Burwell. Rev. Rolly Salts officiated. Hitchcock Funeral Home of Burwell was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the Burwell Ambulance Supply Fund.
Mr. Svoboda was born Oct. 25, 1911 in Elba to Anton and Bessie (Tuma) Svoboda. In 1918 at the age of eight, the family moved to a farm in Valley County near Ord where he received his education at the Brace Country School.
On Oct. 25, 1932 he married Margaret Walkowiak at Scotia. The couple made their home in Valley County until 1942. They then moved to the farm in Garfield County where they resided until the time of his death. He farmed his entire life and raised registered Hereford cattle for many years. He received the Nebraska Centennial Commission Tree Planting award in 1967.
Floyd J. Dye
Barton County, MO Resident, 93
Floyd J. Dye, 93, of Lamar, MO died Sun., Mar. 28, 2004 at Lakeview Health Care Center in Lamar, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wed., Mar. 31 at Daniel Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 7-7:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Fri., Apr. 2 at the Ord City Cemetery.
Mr. Dye was born May 14, 1910 in Ord to Clarence and Emma Dye. He completed all of his schooling in Ord, graduating from Ord High School in 1928.
On Aug. 14, 1932 he married Eloise Augusta Aldrich in Phillipsburg, KS. His wife died Jan. 12, 1995.
Mr. Dye lived in Barton County since 1951 and was a long-time farmer and rancher. He had worked for Brother Adams and Gerald Medlin Fort Implement Dealership. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Lamar.
Survivors include a daughter, Emmara Hepp of Olympia, WA; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Russell Wilt of Belton, MO; and a sister-in-law, Vera Boelter of Anaheim, CA.
He was preceded in death by his wife and two brothers, Vernon Dye and Roy Dye.
Gail N. Reineke
Ord Resident, 55
Gail Norvin Reineke, 55, of Ord formerly of Burwell died Tues., Mar. 23, 2004 at his home following a battle with cancer.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Fri., Mar. 26 at the First Christian Church in Burwell with Pastor Rolly Salts and Mr. Roy Weber officiating. Hitchcock Funeral Home of Burwell was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Reineke was born Apr. 1, 1948 in Burwell to Jack and Pearl (Thompson) Reineke.
On Apr. 4, 1965 he married Donna Colfack at Taylor. They lived in Montrose, CO where he worked on a ranch. They then moved back to Burwell and he worked at Loup Valley Alfalfa for 23 years as a truck driver. In 1983 they moved to Ord and he worked at the Valley County Roads Department. He operated heavy equipment but primarily operated a maintainer. His wife died June 19, 1998. His cancer recently forced him to stop working.

North Loup Resident, 93
Cecil F. Severance, 93, of North Loup died Sun., Mar. 28, 2004 at the Valley County Nursing Home in Ord.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Fri., Apr. 2 at the North Loup Seventh Day Baptist Church with Pastor Christian Mattison officiating. Jeneane Abel will be the accompanist and singing will be the Seventh Day Baptist Church Choir. Pallbearers are Cletus Severance, Galen Severance, Keith Severance, Terry Keown, Christopher Severance, Brice Severance, Bernie Keown and Tom Keown. Honorary pallbearers are SDB Deaconate and the North Loup Lions Club. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery at North Loup. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be Thurs., Apr. 1 from 6-8 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel.

Mr. Severance was born Dec. 25, 1910 at Grand Island to Carl and Corabelle (Whitney) Severance. He grew up in Grand Island where he received his education. In 1926 he moved with his father to Arkansas where he worked at a sawmill until moving to New Jersey where he worked in produce for a summer. He returned to Nebraska, settling in the beautiful North Loup Valley.
Lloyd D. Zikmund
Ord Resident, 82
Lloyd D. "Zik" Zikmund, 82, of Ord died Sun., Mar. 28, 2004 at the Veterans Home in Grand Island.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thurs., Apr. 1, 2004 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord with Father Jim Heithoff officiating. Carol Estudillo will be the accompanist and Tim Glendening the soloist. Pallbearers are Eugene Augustyn, Larry Schultz, Mike Pesek, Bruce Lammers, Chuck Kokes and Dale Melia. Honorary pallbearers are Leland Christensen, Allen Zikmund, Bill Gogan, Harold Christensen, Everett Lech, Bob Seger and Jack Koll. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery with military rites by VFW #7029 and American Legion #38. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be Wed., Mar. 31 from 6-8 p.m. with rosary at 7 p.m.

Mr. Zikmund was born Mar. 20, 1922 at Ord to Emil and Lena (Slavicek) Zikmund. He was raised in Valley County. When he was five years old he began studying music, both vocal and instrumental, participating in bands in high school and at dances. He was a member of the men's University of Nebraska Glee Club, UNL Acapela Choir as well as church and many choral groups. He graduated from Ord High School in 1939 and from St. Paul Business College and from NYA, Community College in Kearney. He was employed at the US Navy Ammunition Depot at Hastings.
