Bettie June Owens
TRENTON -- Bettie June Owens, 70, died Tuesday (Nov. 13, 2001) at her home in Trenton.
She was born July 29, 1931, at Syracuse, Kan., to Roy and Elizabeth (Hendricks) Shoup. She grew up in the Lamar and Denver, Colo., areas, and attended high school in Denver.
She spent part of her married
live in Denver before marrying Eugene Owens at Englewood, Colo., in 1979. She has owned and operated the Lil' Brave Recreational Vehicle Park in Trenton for the past 19 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two former husbands, James Tweedy and William Robinson; one son, James Eugene Tweedy; and one brother, Gene Shoup.
Survivors include her husband, Eugene Owens of Trenton; one daughter, Ryan Owens of Trenton; one daughter-in-law, Carolyn Tweedy of Westminster, Colo.; two brothers, Al Shoup of Lamar, Colo., and Art Shoup of Trenton; one sister, Wilma Jane of Oregon; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be Friday, 2 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Trenton with the Rev. Dan Spearow officiating. Inurnment will be at the Crown Hill cemetery in Denver.
Memorials may be given in her name, and friends may call at Herrmann Funeral Home of Trenton.

Yvonne Marie Cole
CURTIS -- Yvonne Marie Cole, 69, died Monday (Nov. 12, 2001) at the Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha.
She was born Au. 19, 1932, north of Moorefield to Ray and D. Marie (Lawrence) Sears. She attended school in Curtis and graduated from NSA-Curtis in 1950.
On June 27, 1951, she married
Harvey V. Cole at Curtis. They lived on the family farm southwest of Curtis for their entire married
lives. She was employed at Midwest Livestock of McCook for 17 years.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Curtis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Dennis; and one sister, Barbara Dillman.
Survivors include her husband, Harvey of Curtis; one daughter, Beth Fletcher and husband, Larry of Kearney; two sons, Roy Cole and special friend Judy Bowmaster of Curtis, and Rex Cole and wife, Debra of McCook; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday, 10 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Curtis with the Revs. Randy Bartelts and Shirley Carpenter officiating. Interment will be at the Curtis Cemetery.
Visitation is today until 9 p.m. at Blase Wetzel Funeral Home of Curtis.

Hazel L. Nicodemus
OBERLIN -- Hazel L. Nicodemus, 88, died Saturday (Nov. 10, 2001) at her home in Oberlin.
She was born March 16, 1913, at Pritchell, Colo., to John and Gertrude (Cardiff) Evans. She was raised in Colorado and Oklahoma.
She married
Tom Nauer in June 1938. He preceded her in death. On May 28, 1970, she married
Keith Nicodemus at Las Vegas, Nev. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Oberlin United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Order of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tom Nauer in 1963; her husband, Keith on Nov. 27, 1993; one step-daughter, Evelyn Bryan; and three brothers, Charles Harold Evans Sr., Elmer Evans and George Evans.
Survivors include one step-daughter, Louise Swank and husband, Clare of Colby, Kan.; three sisters, Elna Ridgway of Atwood, Helen Brodie of Woodward, Okla., and Ethel Ormiston and husband, Ed of Pritchett, Colo.; and four grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday, 2 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home of Oberlin. Interment will be at the Oberlin Cemetery.
The Order of Eastern Star service will be tonight at 7 p.m. Visitation is tonight until 8 p.m., and Thursday, 8 a.m. until the time of the service.

Lowell A. Stacey
OBERLIN -- Lowell A. Stacey, 88, died Thursday (Nov. 8, 2001) at the Cedar Living Center at Oberlin.
He was born Dec. 28, 1912, at Scottsville, Kan., to Clarence and Jessie (Shunn) Stacey. He was raised in the Jennings, Kan., area and graduated from Jennings High School in 1932. On July 30, 1965, he married
Mary Lee Whitmer at Rapid City, S.D. They lived in the Jennings and Clayton, Kan., area. He was a farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary (Parsons) Stacey; one infant sister, Greta Stacey, and sister, Ruth Young.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Stacey of Clayton; three sons, Raymond Stacey of Larned, Kan., Ronald Stacey and wife, Lois of Holdrege, and Lowell Stacey Jr. and wife, Kathy of Montrose, Colo.; two daughters, Jacquelyn Stacey of Grand Island, and Lalita Culpepper and husband, Mike of Washington, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services were today at Pauls Funeral Home of Oberlin with the Rev. Charles Keller officiating. Inurnment was at the Jennings cemetery in Jennings.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name to the Clayton United Methodist Church.

Gail Elaine (Crowell) Sitzman
WAUNETA -- Gaile Elaine (Crowell) Sitzman, 78, formerly of Culbertson, died Tuesday (Nov. 6, 2001) at Wauneta.
She was born Nov. 30, 1924, at Guide Rock to James and Blanche Crowell. She was baptized on April 1, 1956. She graduated from Culbertson High School in 1944. She obtained a teaching certificate through normal training, and taught country school.
On Jan. 10, 1946, she married
Edward H. Sitzman at Culbertson. She was a housewife and helped her husband on the family farm.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Culbertson, and served many years on the Memorial Committee. She served several terms as the director of the Frenchman Valley Irrigation District. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; and her daughter, Sandra Bauer.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Sitzman and wife, Sally of Columbus, and Kyle Sitzman and wife, Debbie of Lincoln; one daughter, Janet Nordhausen and husband, Harold of Wauneta; one son-in-law, Alan Bauer of Culbertson; two brothers, Kirk Crowell and wife, Virginia of Loveland, Colo., and Daryl Crowell and wife, Sandi of Loveland; one sister, Nancy West and husband, Dean of Glenwood, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were Friday at the United Methodist Church in Culbertson with the Rev. Daniel Spearow officiating. Interment was at the Culbertson Cemetery.
