Carol F. Wolcott
WAUNETA -- Carol F. Wolcott, 67, died Saturday (Nov. 10, 2001) at the Heritage of Wauneta after a lengthy battle with cancer.
She was born Aug. 27, 1934, at Palisade to Ted and Erma (Miley) Schreiber. She graduated from Wauneta High School in 1952, and from Rockmont Bible College in 1956.
On June 3, 1956, she married
Jim Wolcott. They lived in Longmont, Colo., until 1959, when they moved to the Hamlet area to take over the family farm. They moved to Imperial in 1998.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother, Marguerite (Perkins) Schreiber; one brother, Lyle Edwin Schreiber; and one grandson, Jason M. Wolcott.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Wolcott of Imperial; two sons, Kim Wolcott and wife, Lisa of Palisade, and Brent Wolcott of Oxford; one daughter, Eli Podtburg and husband, Ken of Greeley, Colo.; one sister, Beth Freeburg and husband, Pat of Sterling, Colo.; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at the Hamlet Union Church. Interment will be at the Hamlet Cemetery.
Visitation is today until 8 p.m., and Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook.
Memorials may be given in her name.

Mary Ann Richards
HAYES CENTER -- Mary Ann Richards, 64, died at her home Friday (Nov. 9, 2001).
There will be a private family funeral service and burial on Tuesday in Hayes Center.
The family will be receiving extended family and friends at the Hayes Center Legion Hall Tuesday, 6 p.m., and a meal will be provided. A eulogy will be read and there will be a time of memory sharing

Public visitation is today until 8 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.

Thelma Ann Ham
GREELEY, Colo. -- Thelma Ann Ham, 81, of Benkelman, died Wednesday (Nov. 7, 2001) at the Northern Colorado Medical Center in Greeley.
She was born Feb. 8, 1910 in Rawlins County, Kan., to Oscar and Ida Belle (Burkey) Mann, and attended school in Beardsley, and McDonald, Kan. She went on to attend the Capital Beauty School in Omaha with her degree in Cosmetology in 1938.
On Nov. 2, 1941, she married
Stanley A. Ham. They made Benkelman their home until 1942, then they moved to California for a short time. After returning to Benkelman, they farmed for a short time. In 1947 they established Stanley's Oil Co. in Benkelman, and in 1952 they acquired the John Deere dealership.
She was employed for several years as a beautician in Benkelman, and worked in the salon above Ireland's Department Store.
She was a member of the Benkelman United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and a past member of the Benkelman Women's Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers; and five sisters.
Survivors include her husband, Stanley Ham of Benkelman; one son, Tom Ham and wife, Marcy also of Benkelman; one daughter, Sherri Pattison and husband, John of Sioux Falls, S. D.; one sister, LaVerne Ham of McCook; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, and nephews.
Memorial services will be Monday, 10:30 a.m. (MST) at the United Methodist Church in Benkelman with the Revs. Norman Prather and Douglas Dietrich officiating. A private family inurment will be held at a later date.
There will be no visitation.

Loyall W. Nicholson
Loyall W. Nicholson, 93, died Friday (Nov. 9, 2001) at his home in McCook.
He was born July 14, 1908, at Cambridge to James and Wealtha (Humbert) Nicholson. He grew up in several communities, and graduated from high school at McCreadie, Mo., in 1926.
On Nov. 27, 1936, he married
Dorothy Fitch at McCook. They spent their married
lives farming southwest of McCook. He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, the Jr. Chamber of Commerce, the National Equity Board and McCook Elks Lodge 1434. He was a past president of the McCook Equity Board.
He was preceded in death by six brothers, Doyall, Dale, Frances, Blayne, William and Dean Nicholson.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of McCook; two daughters, Charlene Jeager and husband, Gene of Arvada, Colo., and Andrea Bower and husband, Frank of McCook; one brother, Cecil Nicholson of Tacoma, Wash.; one sister, Claudene Miller of Centralia, Wash.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Jeffery Thurman officiating. Interment will be at Riverview cemetery in McCook.

Delbert R. Eklund
Delbert R. Eklund, 73, died Thursday (Nov. 8, 2001) at Community Hospital in McCook.
He was born July 14, 1928, at Des Moines, Iowa, to Helena (Moore) and Daryll D. Eklund. He graduated from Council Bluffs High School in 1946. He attended college at the University of Nebraska in Omaha.
He served in the Armed Forces during peace time from 1946 to 1949.
In 1952, he married
Mary Dorweiler at Omaha. They moved to McCook in 1953.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Daryll; and four infant sons.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Eklund of McCook; five sons, Chris Eklund and wife, Pat of Durham, N.C., Joe Eklund and wife, Amy of Berrien Springs, Miss., Mike Eklund of McCook, Tom Eklund and wife, Val of Trinidad, Colo., and Peter Eklund of Emporia, Kan.; one daughter, Anne Gallagher and husband, Mark of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two sisters, Lora Fletcher of Omaha and Anne Nielson and husband, Read of Oxford, Ohio; six grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial services will be Monday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Rev. Gary Brethour officiating. Cremation will follow the service, and a private inurnment service for the family will be at a later date.
The rosary service will be Sunday, 7 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Chapel in McCook.
Visitation will be Saturday, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and Sunday 2 p.m. until the time of the rosary.
Memorials may be given to St. Patrick's School.
