E. Evelyn Martin
E. Evelyn Martin, 76, died Wednesday (Nov. 6, 2001) at Community Hospital of McCook.
She was born Oct. 21, 1925, at Lawrence to Alfred and Jane (Hannum) Roth. The family moved to Frontier County in 1932. She graduated from the Nebraska School of Agriculture at Curtis and McCook College. She taught school for more than 20 years.
On Oct. 21, 1946, she married
Alvin Martin at her parent's home in Frontier County. They farmed in Frontier and Franklin Counties. They moved to Bartley in 1975, and in 1992, moved to Norfolk. After her husband's death in 1999, she returned to McCook where she lived until the time of her death.
She was a member of the Bartley Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Alvin in July 1999.
Survivors include her son, Al Martin and wife, Laura of Enola; one brother, Howard Roth of Indianola; one sister-in-law, Viola Gardiner and husband, John, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two nieces and five nephews.
Services will be Friday, 2 p.m., at Carpenter Breland Chapel with Roy Hart officiating. Cremation will follow the service. A private inurnment service for the family will be at a later date.
Visitation will be Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday 9 a.m. to noon.
Memorials may be given in her name.

Dorothy A. Dybdahl
BENKELMAN -- Dorothy A. Dybdahl, 84, of Benkelman, formerly of Curtis, died Monday (Nov. 5, 2001) at Benkelman.
She was born Oct. 20, 1917, at Smithfield to Clarence and Rosie (Stark) Littell. She lived on the family farm until her early teens when she moved to Maywood and worked for many people in the surrounding communities.
On March 24, 1936, she married
Earl Dybdahl at Stockville. After their marriage they farmed east of Curtis and southwest of Maywood for many years. They moved to Curtis in 1962 where they owned and operated a clothing store. She also worked in a clothing store in Curtis owned by Irene Vandamant until it closed. Her husband preceded her in death in April 1979.
She was a past member of the Willing Worker's Club, and the Christian Church, both of Maywood.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Myrtle; and four brothers, Lester, Ralph, Frank and Barney.
Survivors include four daughters, Shirley Russell and husband, George of Maywood, Evelyn Rosso and husband, Dwight of North Platte, Sharon Scoggins and husband, Bob of Larkspur, Colo., and Betty Hansen and husband, Larry of Benkelman; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Services will be Thursday, 11 a.m., at the Berean Church in Curtis with the Revs. Rod Forrester and Dale Heimer officiating. Interment will be at the Maywood Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Blase-Wetzel Funeral Home of Curtis.

Delbert Lynn Hardy
AKRON, Colo. -- Delbert Lynn Hardy, 74, of Akron, died Thursday (Nov. 1, 2001) at the Sterling Regional Medical Center in Sterling, Colo.
He was born Aug. 5, 1927, at Stratton to Frank and Lola (Henderson). He grew up in the Stratton area, completing eight years of school at the Eden school, and graduating from Stratton High School. He was stricken with polio in October 1942, and was unable to attend his junior year at Stratton High School. He moved to Lincoln General Hospital, and then to Children's Hospital in Denver, Colo. He attended Boettcher School for crippled children where he was able to complete his junior year education. He later returned to Stratton for his senior year. Following his graduation, he attended the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colo., where he graduated with a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering. He worked as an engineer for the Northwest Kansas Electrical Co-op at Bird City from 1950 to 1953. He did the planning and staking of the power lines west of Stratton to Benkelman, and into Haigler. In 1953 he became associated with Miner and Miner Consulting Engineers in Greeley, Colo., where he did consulting work for 10 years. He later worked as an engineer for Morgan County REA, Y-W Electric, and Highline Electric, before becoming manager of Y-W Electric in April 1976. He retired on Jan. 1, 1993.
On March 19, 1955, he married
Lucille Alles at her parents' home. They owned and operated Quarter Circle VV Ranch, raising paint horses for 40 years.
He helped start the Rocky Mountain Paint Horse Club, and served as director for many years, as well as president in 1967. He was active in the High Plains Paint Horse Club, and served on several committees for the American Paint Horse Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his grandparents.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille; three sons, David Hardy, Joe Hardy and Russell Hardy and friend, Natalie McCloskie; one daughter, Gail Lowry and husband, John; one daughter-in-law, Donna Hardy; one son-in-law, John Lowry; two brothers, George and Neil Hardy; one sister, Vonna Ragan; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were today at the Church of Christ in Stratton with Randy Hayes officiating. Interment was at Rose Hill cemetery in Stratton.

William 'Bill' Bryan Hanthorn
INDIANLOLA -- William "Bill" Bryan Hanthorn, 86, of Indianola, died Friday (November 2, 2001) at Hillcrest Nursing Home.
He was born June 16, 1915, in Frontier County to James and Margaret (Powers) Hanthorn. He attended rural school District No. 37 in Frontier County, and had started attending Havana High School when he left to help his father on the farm. In 1945, he purchased the family farm and he and his sister, Georgia, made their home there.
In 1973, he sold the farm ground but reserved the house and yard. They both moved to Gothenburg for a short time. They returned to their home and he purchased a truck for commercial hauling. They also raised hogs.
He to moved to Hillcrest Nursing Home because of his health in September 1998.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, John, Ralph "Pat" and Emmett "Mo" Hanthorn; and four sisters, Mrs. Esther Sughroue, Mrs. Blanche Teel, Nellie Hanthorn and Georgia Hanthorn.
Survivors include one sister-in-law, Grace Hanthorn of McCook; nine nieces; and four nephews.
Services will be Monday, 10:30 a.m., at the Carpenter Funeral Home in Indianola with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. Interment will be at the Indianola Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday, 4 to 6 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorials may be given in his name.

Robert 'Bob' E. Rasser
Robert "Bob" E. Rasser, 86, died Wednesday (October, 31, 2001), at McCook Community Hospital.
He was born Nov. 8, 1914, at Red Cloud to Benjamin and Hazel (Rust) Rasser. The family moved to Gillete, Wyo., when he was two years old, and homesteaded there. They returned to Red Cloud when he was six years old. He graduated from Red Cloud High School in 1933.
On June 23, 1937, he married
Gerri Reichstein at Red Cloud. They lived in McCook before moving to Alliance and Lincoln for five years. They then returned to make McCook their home. He was employed by Burlington Northern Railroad for 41 years until he retired in 1977. He then worked part-time for Carpenter Breland Funeral Home for 23 years.
He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church for more than 60 years, the McCook BPOE Elks Lodge No. 1434 for 65 years, and the Eagles Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Hazel Rasser.
Survivors include his wife, Gerri of McCook; one son, Larry Rasser and wife, Dee of Flagstaff, Ariz.; one sister, Pauline Reichstein of Red Cloud; two grandsons; and two great-grandsons.
Services will be Tuesday, 11 a.m., at Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Jeffery Thurman officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday 2 to 8 p.m., and Monday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook.
Memorials may be given in his name.
