Richard Olmer
HUMPHREY -Richard J. Olmer, 86, of Humphrey died Monday, Dec. 16, 2002, at Faith Regional West Medical Center at Norfolk.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Catholic Church at Humphrey with the Rev. James M. Buckley officiating. Burial will be at St. Francis cemetery in Humphrey.
Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. with a 3 p.m. Christian Mothers rosary Wednesday at Duesman Funeral Chapel in Humphrey. Visitation will continue from 6-8:30 p.m. with a rosary and scripture at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church. There will be visitation from 9-10:15 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Mr. Olmer was born July 15, 1916, at Humphrey to William and Catherine (Lubischer) Olmer. He received his education at St. Francis Elementary School and St. Francis High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps in the 671st Bomber Squadron at the rank of staff sergeant. He entered the service on April 2, 1942, and served until Oct. 24, 1945. He participated in Rhineland, Normandy, northern France, central Europe and the Ardennes campaigns.
He married
Eunice M. Wessel on April 22, 1946, at Omaha.
He was a lifetime resident of Humphrey. He was the general manager of Farmers Cooperative Grain and Lumber in Humphrey for 38 years.
He was a member of The American Legion, Foltz-Zuerlen Post 80 of Humphrey, the Holy Name Society and the Humphrey Community Club. He had served on the Humphrey City Council and was a past board member of the FarMar Co. Grain Commodity.
He was a member of the church.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Linda (Bob) Mason of Omaha, Sandy (Jerry) Eisenmenger of Columbus and Debbie (Tim) Huettner of Humphrey; nine grandchildren; and two sisters, Cecilia Lohaus of Humphrey and Mona Ruth Nickolson of Lancaster, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Donald Olmer; two sisters, Margaret (Alois) Fuchs and Helen (John) Batenhorst.

Miriam Welton
WILBURTON, Okla. - Miriam L. Welton, 81, of Wilburton, Okla., died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, at the Latimer Nursing Home, Wilburton.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Kracl Funeral Home, Schuyler, with Lay Minister Jerry Kracl officiating. Burial in Edholm Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Welton was born Feb. 22, 1921, in Butler County, a daughter of Frank B. and Maude (Hahn) Davenport. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Wilburton, Okla., and a 50-year member of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include two daughters: Nancy (Neal) Wood of Wilburton, Okla., and Sally (Michael) Foisey of Omaha; and three grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband: Wayne Welton; a daughter: Suzanne Welton; and a brother, Arlo Davenport.

Angela Wilson
FALLON, Nev. - Angela Sue Wilson, 25, of Fallon, Nev., formerly of Columbus and David City, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at Churchill Community Hospital, Fallon, Nev.
Service were held Saturday in Nevada.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Dec. 20, at 2 p.m. at Highland Park Evangelical Free Church, Columbus.
Mrs. Wilson was born Sept. 16, 1977, in Columbus, a daughter of James and Trudy (Higginbotham) Reynoldson. She attended school in David City before moving to Fallon in 1997.
On April 15, 2000, she was married
to Ralph Wilson. She attended Western Nevada Community College and graduated May 2002, with a registered nursing degree. She worked at Washoe Medical Center in Reno, Nev.
Survivors include her husband of Fallon, Nev.; her father and stepmother, Jim (Lisa) Reynoldson of Neola, Iowa; her mother, Trudy Dollison of Norfolk; grandparents Cecil and Leola Higginbotham of Fallon, Nev., and grandmother Mrs. Gene Donoahue of Columbus; one brother: Matt Kropatsch of Silver Creek; one sister: Amy (Wes) Peters of Madison; two stepsisters: Amanda Taggert and Bridget Kasper; stepson: Chris Wilson; and stepdaughter: Heather Wilson.
Memorials may be sent to the family.
Hulda Barr
COLUMBUS - Hulda L. Barr, 78, of Columbus, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at Columbus Community Hospital.
Services are Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Columbus, with the Rev. Timothy White officiating. Burial in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery, Columbus.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. today at Gass Haney Funeral Home, and will continue from 9:30-10:30 a.m. with a 10:15 a.m. family prayer service Monday at the church.
Mrs. Barr was born March 24, 1924, in rural Platte County, a daughter of Gottifred and Eleanor (Lindemann) Marty. She was baptized and confirmed, and attended Christ Lutheran Church and school. She later attended Kramer High School, Columbus.
She was married
to Alfred Olson in Platte County, before her 1956 marriage to Wallace Barr. She worked in quality control at Becton-Dickinson for more than 30 years.
Hulda was a member of the church, where she was a greeter and active with the Ladies Aid. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed reading, crafts, sewing and music.
Survivors include three sons: Roger (Shirley) Olson of Holdrege, and John (Marlene) Olson and Ralph (Phyllis) Olson, all of Columbus; two daughters: Mary Lou (Jerry) Schmidt of Columbus and Cindy (Steve) Haave of Westminster, Colo.; one sister: Edna (Eugene) Muth of Shelton; one brother: Marvin (Marlene) Marty of Leigh; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents and husband.

Roberta Lakey
COLUMBUS -- Roberta J. Lakey, 81, of Columbus, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lincoln.
Services are pending with Gass Haney Funeral Home.
Frances Olafson
COLUMBUS - Frances Olafson, 75, of Silver Creek, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, at the Columbus Community Hospital.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Silver Creek with the Rev. Frank Jindra officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. vigil at the church and continue 9-10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Olafson was born Jan. 16, 1928, to Joseph P. and Rose (Jareske) Mecek in Silver Creek. She grew up in Fullerton and moved to Silver Creek during her high school years. She graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1945.
She married
Glen Olafson on May 29, 1950 in Silver Creek. She was a homemaker and worked for D & L in Columbus for many years. She loved flower gardening.
She was a member of the church and a past member of the Altar Society.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Greg Olafson of Silver Creek and Robert (Connie) Olafson of Omaha; two daughters, Linda (Rollie) Brandl of Schuyler and Joyce (Rod) McCoy of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a brother, Paul Mecek of Shelby; two sisters, Helen Staniec of Silver Creek and Judy Dillon of North Platte; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Audrey Krumland and Dorothy Mills; and two brothers, Edward Mecek and John Mecek.
