Florence Molczyk
HUMPHREY - Florence Molczyk, 82, of Genoa, formerly of the Tarnov area, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2003, at the Genoa Community Hospital.
Services are pending with Duesman Funeral Home in Humphrey.
Mariann Zywiec
CENTRAL CITY - Mariann Zywiec, 65, of Central City, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Central City with the Rev. Nelson Newman officiating. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-7:30 p.m. Friday at St. Michael's Catholic Church with a prayer vigil at 7:30 p.m.
Mrs. Zywiec was born on Oct. 17, 1937, to Louis J. and Erna M. (Hellbusch) Landers at rural Belgrade. She graduated from Belgrade High School in 1955. She had worked at the grocery store in Belgrade and after graduation she worked for Bell Telephone in Central City until her marriage.
On Sept. 26, 1957, she married
Dominic "Dick" Zywiec at Central City. They made their home in the Belgrade and Fullerton area where they farmed until 1964 when they moved to Central City. She worked at the Lincoln Manor, Williamson's Interior and Bosselman's. She worked with her daughter at Tag Team Tours as guides for tours to Fort Randall.
She was a member of the church and a past member of the Altar Society.
She enjoyed bowling and she co-authored two books, "Casino Almanac" and "Casino USA."
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Mike (Jonita) Zywiec and Rick (Candy) Zywiec, both of Central City; one daughter, Chris Wendt of Oklahoma City; three brothers, Wesley (Marlene) Landers of Westminster, Colo., Raymond (Beverly) Landers of Ashton and Alden (Celeste) Landers of Aurora, Colo.; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Lisa Hansen; and one brother, LaVern Landers.
Irene Sprunk
COLUMBUS - Irene E. Sprunk, 79, of 2214 55th St., died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, at the Columbus Community Hospital.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus with the Rev. Joseph Miksch officiating. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure cemetery in Columbus.
Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Friday with a 4 p.m. rosary and an 8 p.m. vigil service at the church and resume 8-9:30 a.m. Saturday at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus.
Mrs. Sprunk was born Sept. 1, 1923, to William and Anna (Kaster) Thiele in Clearwater. At an early age she moved to Columbus and she graduated from St. Bonaventure High School in 1941. She worked at Lou Power District from 1941-51.
She married
LeRoy Sprunk on Oct. 3, 1951, in Columbus. They lived on a farm near Monroe.
She belonged to the church. She enjoyed gardening, music, flowers and sewing.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Dan (Brenda) Sprunk, David (Jenay) Sprunk and LeRoy (Kelly) Sprunk Jr., all of Monroe; three daughters, Marilyn (Bill) Stockdale of Omaha, Carolee (Alan) Preister of Monroe and Virginia (Leroy) Semerad of Rogers; a sister, Helena Wiegand of Beloit, Kan.; a brother, Leo Thiele of Columbus; and 20 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother; a sister, Dorothy Helm; four brothers, Arnold Thiele, Lawrence Thiele, Marion Thiele and Wilbert Thiele; and one grandson.
Memorials are suggested to St. Isidore Church or the family's choice.
Frances Olafson
COLUMBUS - Frances Olafson, 75, of Silver Creek, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, at the Columbus Community Hospital.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Silver Creek with the Rev. Frank Jindra officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Friday at the church with a 7 p.m. vigil and resume 9-10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
McKown Funeral Home of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.
Mary Ann McBride
ALBION - Mary Ann McBride, 72, of Albion, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003, at Beverly Healthcare in Columbus.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at the United Church of Christ in Albion with the Rev. Mary Avidano officiating. Burial will be in the Dublin cemetery in Primrose.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Mrs. McBride was born Oct. 15, 1930, to Edward and Eleanora (Zimmerman) Loughman at Greeley. She attended Spalding Academy and graduated from Spalding Public High School in 1950. Following graduation, she moved to Omaha where she worked as a telephone operator.
She married
Thomas "Tom" McBride on Feb. 10, 1952, at Greeley. They moved to the Akron community where she was a homemaker. She was employed at Lindsay Manufacturing from 1974-87. They moved to Albion in 1976 and resided there until 1999 when she entered Beverly Healthcare in Columbus.
She was a member of the church and was a past commander of the Primrose American Legion Auxiliary Post 347. She was a Cub Scout leader and a member of a bowling team.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Patricia (Richard) Voichoskie of Columbus, Marilyn (Doug) Sharp and Karen (Mike) Arends, both of Albion; two sisters, Winnie Bader of Albion and Eleanora (Jim) Lawary of Palmer; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Edward Loughman, Paul Loughman and Michael Loughman; a sister, Elizabeth; and three grandchildren.
Mary Gross
SCOTTSBLUFF - Mary Elizabeth Gross, 81, of Scottsbluff, formerly of Columbus, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at Heritage Health Care in Gering.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Jolliffe Funeral Home Chapel in Scottsbluff with the Rev. Ron Nuss-Warren officiating. Burial will be at a later date at The Community cemetery in Belhaven, N.C.
Mrs. Gross was born Nov. 24, 1921, to William Scott and Hattie Elizabeth (Everett) Foreman in Belhaven. She attended Belhaven High School.
She married
Byrle Ellsworth Gross on Dec. 14, 1940 in South Mills, N.C. Following World War II in 1945 they moved to Gering and then to Scottsbluff until 1958 when his job with Nebraska Public Power brought them to Columbus. They retired to Scottsbluff in 1997 where they resided together at The Village before she moved to Heritage Health Care in Gering in July of 2001.
She enjoyed sewing, bowling and gardening. She was a member of the Columbus First Baptist Church in Columbus.
Survivors include her husband of Scottsbluff; three daughters, Louise (Douglas) Kent of Scottsbluff, Ruth (Loyle) Gibson and Kay (Mark) Neuer, both of Topeka, Kan.; a son, Byrle (Cynthia) Gross Jr. of Independence, Kan.; a sister, Hilda Allen of Pantego, N.C.; a brother, Sam (Carlina) Foreman of Yorba Linda, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ralph Foreman and Edgar Foreman; and several infant brothers and sisters.
