DAVID CITY - Lucille (Makovicka) Behne, 89, of David City, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at David City.
Services are pending with Knott Funeral Home in David City.
Larry Peters
DAVID CITY - Larry A. Peters, 64, of David City, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at his home.
Services are 10 a.m.. Monday at Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in David City with the Rev. Barb Spangler officiating, with additional services 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home in Randolph. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Prospect View cemetery at Pierce.
Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in David City. There will be additional visitation from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Johnson Funeral Home at Randolph.
Mr. Peters was born Nov. 13, 1938, at Norfolk to Arthur and Bernice (Maas) Peters. He attended school in Madison County and graduated from Randolph High School in 1957.
He married
Mary Ann McDonald on Oct. 19, 1960.
He married
Dolores Cook on Dec. 29, 1982, in Lincoln. He drove truck for Keith Huwaldt and Don Hrdicka and Randolph Creamery and helped various farmers around the Randolph area. He worked road construction for Theisen Bros., Norfolk Bridge and Construction, Constructors, Inc, , in Lincoln, Dobson Bros., in Lincoln and Butler County road crew. He was a heavy machine operator. He had lived in the David City area for six years. He was diagnosed with leukemia in July 2002.
He liked to deer hunt and fish.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Lori (Danny) Olson of Norfolk and LoRita (Randall) Rudder of Greenwood; four stepsons, Lester (Barbara) Ralston of Crete, Virgil (Lola) Ralston of Sutherland, Phillip (Linda) Ralston of Fayetteville, Ark., David (Helen) Ralston of David City; two stepdaughters, Sherry (Leslie) Zwink of Gibbon and Cindi Rudder of Fremont; 31 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather and one granddaughter.
Memorials may be directed to the Leukemia Society or donor's choice.
Eloise Scholl
COLUMBUS - Eloise Cecelia Scholl, 71, of Columbus, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at her home in Columbus.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Albion with the Rev. Frank Baumert officiating. Burial will be at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church cemetery at Raeville.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. wake service today at Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Mrs. Scholl was born on Jan. 30, 1932, to Joseph M. and Rose J. (Scherbring) Scholl at the farmstead east of Petersburg. She attended School District 62.
She lived with her parents until 1970 when she moved to the Beatrice State Home. In 1978 she moved back to Columbus where she lived at Region IV. She worked with Northstar Services until retiring in 1996.
She attended St. Isidore's Catholic Church in Columbus.
She enjoyed working with her photo albums, braiding yarn and writing.
Survivors include five sisters, Marcella Becker and Janet (Glenn) Magsamen, all of Columbus, Bonnie (Pheigaru) Strotman and her husband, Don, of Aurora, Rosella (Eugene) Braun of Cedar Rapids, Dorothy (Maurice) Braun of Rosholt, S.D.; and one brother, Marvin (Darlene) Scholl of Spalding.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one infant sister, Dorothy Mae.
Henry Chohon
COLUMBUS - Henry Stanley Chohon, 87, of Columbus died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, at Columbus Community Hospital Inc.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus. Burial will be at St. Bonaventure cemetery with Military Honors by The American Legion Hartman Post 84 Honor Guard.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. vigil on Friday at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus. Visitation will continue from 8-9:30 a.m. Saturday, also at the funeral home.
Mathilda Machacek
CLARKSON - Mathilda L. Machacek, 87, of Dodge, formerly of Leigh, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at Parkview Nursing Home in Dodge.
Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Clarkson with the Rev. Floyd Wessling officiating. Burial is at the parish cemetery.
Visitation is from 2-5 p.m. Thursday at the Miller Funeral Home in Clarkson and after 6 p.m. at the church with a 7 p.m. rosary. Visitation continues Friday from 9-10 a.m. at the church.
Mrs. Machacek was born Dec. 10, 1912, in rural Colfax County to Anton and Emma (Bartunek) Suchan. She attended rural Colfax County schools.
She married
Edward Machacek Sept. 16, 1941, in Schuyler. They farmed north of Leigh until moving into Leigh. She was a waitress for many years at Jack's Cafe in Columbus and also at Club 81. She was a resident of Parkview Nursing Home since February 1990.
Survivors include two sons, Donald (Judy) of Columbus and Ronald (Darlene) of Wisner; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Milo Suchan and Charles Suchan, both of Columbus; and two sisters, Emily Harrison of Leigh and Irma Wiggins of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in February 1990; one sister, Tillie; and three brothers, Anton, Joe and Bohous.
Clarence Loseke
COLUMBUS - Clarence Loseke, 89, of Williams, Calif., formerly of Creston, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, in Williams.
Memorial services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Gass-Haney Funeral Home in Columbus with the Rev. Paul Rowoldt officiating. Burial is at the Calvary cemetery in rural Platte County.
Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. today and 9-10 a.m. Thursday, all at the funeral home.
Mr. Loseke was born April 15, 1910, in rural Colfax County to Henry and Lizzie (Schutte) Loseke. He attended District 43 School in rural Colfax County.
He farmed in the Creston area prior to moving to California. He continued farming in California until his retirement.
Survivors include one daughter, Zelma Hadley of Bradford, Vt.; one son, Peter of Riverside, Calif.; one sister, Ruby Ackers of Ashland; one brother, Elmer of Leigh; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Hulda Kumpf, Martha Engelbart and Lottie Sander; and three brothers, Edward, Reinhold and Walter.

Paul Rupp
COLUMBUS - Paul J. Rupp, 92, of Monroe died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at the Columbus Community Hospital Inc.
Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Gass-Haney Funeral Home in Columbus with the Rev. Paul Rowoldt officiating. Burial is at the Columbus Cemetery.
Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Visitation continues Friday from 9-10 a.m. at the funeral home with Masonic rites by Cedar River Lodge 89.
Mr. Rupp was born Nov. 15, 1907, in rural Monroe to William and Lydia (Eisenmann) Rupp. He attended Wattsville School and graduated from Monroe High School in 1926.
He married
Bertha Schild Jan. 14, 1931, on a farm near Platte Center. They farmed near Monroe, and in the late 1940s he founded the Monroe Grain-Alfalfa Co. He was president and manager of the firm until his retirement in 1974. He played the violin in an orchestra and played baseball for several area teams in his youth. He helped organize the Monroe Rural Fire District and served on the District 76 School Board for 26 years. He was on the Platte County Agricultural Society Board of Managers for 18 years and is in the Hall of Fame. He was a member of Mount Nebo Masonic Lodge of Genoa, Sylvia Chapter of Eastern Star, the Pawnee Shrine Club of Columbus and held the Scottish Rite 32nd degree from Tangier Temple in Omaha.
Survivors include one son, Lee (Kay) of Monroe; one sister, Hazel (Bruno) Becher of Columbus; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1996; and two brothers, Lawrence and Earl.

Brenda Cobb
COLUMBUS - Brenda Cobb, 34, of Duncan died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, from injuries suffered in an auto accident south of Monroe.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Gass-Haney Funeral Home in Columbus with the Rev. Jack McDonald officiating. Burial is at the Roselawn cemetery in Columbus.
Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 1-2 p.m. Friday, all at the funeral home.
Ms. Cobb was born Nov. 14, 1965, in Columbus to Ron Sr. and Bertha (Semrau) VanHouten. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1984.
She lived in Columbus until moving to Duncan in 1997. She enjoyed roller skating with her children, camping and teaching her children how to cook.
Survivors include her father of Columbus; her mother, Bertha Favors of Columbus; one son, Benjamin A. of Duncan; one daughter, Jessica Lynn of Duncan; one sister, Jenny (John) Jacobson of Bellwood; one brother, Ron Jr. of Milford; her ex-husband, David of North Platte; and her grandmother, Dorothy VanHouten of Stanton.
