Leon Haschke
HUMPHREY - Leon Joseph Haschke, 61, of Battle Creek, formerly of Humphrey, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at Community Pride Care Center in Battle Creek.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey with the Rev. Stephen Gutgsell officiating. Burial is at the Fairview cemetery in Creston.
Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Friday with a 7 p.m.. scripture and rosary and 9-10:15 a.m. Saturday, all at the church.
Mr. Haschke was born March 13, 1938, in Columbus to Joseph A. and Eleanor (Mueck) Haschke. He graduated from St. Francis High School in Humphrey.
He married
Darlene Marie Pfeifer June 24, 1961, in Lindsay. He spent most of his life in the Humphrey area. In recent years he lived at nursing homes in Madison and Battle Creek. He farmed with his wife. He was a member of the church.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sandra (Paul) Magnuson of Dallas and Kimberly (Tim) Bender of Stanton; eight grandchildren; his mother of Madison; two brothers, Ivan (Mary Anne) of Humphrey and Neal (Mary) of Madison; and four sisters, Lois (Gerald) Micek of Monroe, Diane (Gerald) Krings and Janice (Ralph) Kroenke, all of Columbus, and Joyce (Robert) Luetkenhaus of Lindsay.
He was preceded in death by his father; and a son, Brian.
Memorials are suggested to the Humphrey Rescue Unit, Humphrey Library or the St. Francis Educational Endowment Fund.
Ivan Schroeder
ALBION - Ivan G. Schroeder, 82, of Albion died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in Albion.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion with the Rev. William Jacobson officiating. Burial is at the Rose Hill cemetery in Albion.
Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Herley Jantz
TABOR, Iowa - Herley B. Jantz, 91, of Lincoln, formerly of Tabor and Des Moines, Iowa, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at the Ambassador Health Care Center in Lincoln following an extended illness.
Services are 10 a.m. Friday at the Crawford-Marshall Funeral Chapel in Tabor. Burial is at the Sunset cemetery in Des Moines.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel.
Mr. Jantz was born Sept. 12, 1908, in Gracemount, Okla., to Isaac T. and Anna E. (Anthony) Jantz.
He married
Nataleah R. Baxter June 2, 1934, in Oklahoma City. She preceded him in death. He married
Wilma Gertrude Gard Whitney Dec. 23, 1973, in Tabor. He farmed for many years and later worked building bridges. He was a member of the Tabor First Christian Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Norma Kay (Robert) Hudson of Columbus and Sylvia Louise Bauer of Lakeside, Calif.; two sons, Roger (Reba) of Lincoln and Clifford Eugene (Jean) of Altoona, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Wilson of Oklahoma City and Lena of Moore, Okla.; and one brother, Carl of Moore.
He was preceded in death by his parents; both of his wives; a daughter, Dolores Ann; two sisters, Ural Miller and Ruby Linfoot; and one brother, David.
Patricia Dostal
CLARKSON -- Patricia "Patty" Marie Dostal, 40, of Howells died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, from injuries suffered in a car accident in Colfax County.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Howells with the Rev. Thomas DeBacker officiating. Burial is at the parish cemetery.
Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. today at the church with a 3 p.m. and a 7 p.m. rosary service. Visitation continues from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Mrs. Dostal was born Nov. 18, 1958, in Omaha to Wilford and JoAnne (Predeohl) Wieneke. She graduated from Howells High School in 1977.
She married
Keith Dostal July 18, 1981, in Howells. She was a homemaker. She was also a 4-H leader, active in Fremont Wrestling Club and a former school board member of Howells Catholic Schools.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Ricky, Christopher and Kurt, all of Howells; four daughters, Jacelyn, Amanda, Katheryn and Dianna, all of Howells; her father of Fremont; one brother, John Wieneke of Fremont; five sisters, Debra Niemeyer of Evans, Colo., Wanda Wieneke of Howells, Pam (Don Jr.) Hafsass of Omaha, Karen Cahill of Howells and Victoria (Weylin) Leffers of Creston; and a grandmother, Romona Predoehl of West Point.
She was preceded in death by her mother.

Amanda Grabau
LINCOLN -- Amanda F. Grabau, 78, of Lincoln died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at her home in Lincoln.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lincoln. Burial is at Lincoln Memorial Park in Lincoln.
Visitation is from 9 a.m.- 9 p.m. Wednesday at Metcalf Funeral Home in Lincoln. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m.
Mrs. Grabau was born March 19, 1921, in Chester to William and Sophia (Freitag) Poppe.
She married
Herbert Grabau on Aug. 4, 1946. She was a former employee of Walton-Pierce Co. in Detroit, Burke High School in Omaha and Regional Post Office in Rock Island, Ill.
She was a member of the church, served as LWML president of Zone VIII in northern Nebraska and served various church choirs and various positions at the church.
Survivors include her husband, Herbert of Lincoln; a daughter, Angelynne of Seward; a brother, Walter (Mildred) Poppe of Chester; and a sister, Marie (Earl) Jergensen of Clarion, Iowa
She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Ella, Olinda, Martha and Frieda; and a brother, William Jr.

Mark Rutten
CEDAR RAPIDS -- Mark Joseph Rutten, 67, of Cedar Rapids died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services were today at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Ralph Steffensmeier officiated. Burial was at the parish cemetery.
Mr. Rutten was born Sept. 7, 1932, in Boone County to Martin L. and Clara M. (Schmitz) Rutten. He attended rural schools and Cedar Rapids Parochial Schools. He served in the U.S. Army from March 1953 until September 1953.
He and his wife Rosemary Marie Foland were married
for 42 years. They lived in Albion and later moved to Cedar Rapids. He worked for the Boone County Roads Department until his retirement. She died on Feb. 19, 1991. He was a member of the church and the Dan Cox American Legion Post 44 of Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his mother; two sons, Mark and Brian (Mary), all of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Yvonne Evans and fiance' Larry Greek of Wolbach and Renee of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren; five sisters, Angela Koziel of Omaha, Rita (Bob) Watts, Georgia Ann (Orville) Robinson and Veronica (Harold) Pfeifer, all of Cedar Rapids, and Marlene (Bill) Wilson of Merriville, Ind; and three brothers, Maurice of Grand Island, Charles "Chic" (Ernie) of Cedar Rapids, and Ray (Barb) of Omaha.
He was preceded in death by his father; and his wife.
Mary Sliva
COLUMBUS -- Mary Victoria Sliva, 91, 2810 Sixth St., died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at the Columbus Manor in Columbus.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus with the Rev. Christopher Grimmond officiating. Burial is at St. Bonaventure cemetery in Columbus.
Visitation is from 3-9 p.m. today at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus with a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation continues Wednesday from 8-10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Sliva was born Sept. 5, 1908, in Nance County to John and Katherine (Korus) Yelli. She received her early education at Krakow.
She married
Joseph Sliva Nov. 23, 1926, in rural Genoa. She worked 45 years as a cook in various restaurants and she was a member of the church.
Survivors include four daughters, Minnie Kula, Jean Stachura and Katherine Tomich, all of Columbus, and Helen O'Brien of Grand Junction, Colo.; three sons, Donald, Richard (Margaret) and Virgil (Lorraine), all of Columbus; two sisters, Frances Micek of Ord and Laura Miller of Columbus; a brother, Al Yelli of Chicago; 26 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers, Don, Leo, and Carl Yelli; a daughter, Anna Mae; and a son, Leonard.

Victoria Murcek
GREELEY, Colo. -- Victoria "Vicki" Kathryn Murcek, 89, of Greeley, Colo., died Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, in the inpatient unit of Hospice at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley.
Services were Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greeley. Internment was at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Greeley.
Mrs. Murcek was born Jan. 21, 1910, in Genoa to John and Pauline (Kush) Morys. She attended Polk County schools.
She married
John C. Murcek Oct. 1, 1930, in rural Osceola. They lived in Columbus until 1942 when they moved to Grand Island. In 1955, they moved to Denver and in 1972 to Evans, Colo., where they lived until Mr. Murcek's death on Feb. 22, 1987.
She was a member of the church. She was a homemaker and had enjoyed crafts and plants. She liked participating in Juanita Ball's harmonica band and exercise class.
Survivors include a son, Robert E. (Louise K.) of Greeley; a son-in-law, Robert E. (Jeanne) Cram of Lakewood, Colo.; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Doris Ann Cram; two sisters; and two brothers.
