U.S., Obituary Collection, 1930-Current

Raymond Dubas
FULLERTON -- Raymond A. Dubas, 64, of Fullerton died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at the Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter Catholic Church in Fullerton. Burial is at the Fullerton cemetery with military rites.
Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday with a 7 p.m. scripture service, all at the Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton.

Inez Hansen
ALBION -- Inez A. Hansen, 95, of Albion died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1999, at Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in Albion.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Untied Church of Christ with Rev. Mary Avidano officiating. Burial is at the Rose Hill cemetery in Albion.
Visitation is from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion.

Dorothy Carter
COLUMBUS -- Dorothy Fae Carter, 80, of Osceola died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1999, at Annie Jeffrey Memorial County Health Center in Osceola.
Services are 1 p.m. Friday at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus. Burial is at the Evergreen cemetery in St. Edward.
Visitation is from 3-8 p.m. Thursday at funeral home. Visitation continues Friday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Lorrel Branting
CENTRAL CITY - Lorrel Ardell Branting, 86, of Clarks died Saturday, March 25, 2000, at the Beverly Healthcare at Lakeview Nursing Home in Grand Island.
Mr. Branting was cremated and there will be a family graveside service at a later date.
Mr. Branting was born Dec. 27, 1913, in Clarks to Clifford and Iva (Beck) Branting. He attended school in Polk and graduated in 1932.
He married Virginia Rose Stuart on Sept. 4, 1938. They lived most of their life in Clarks where they raised 15 children. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a sectionman in Clarks for 38 years. His hobbies included fishing.
Survivors include three sons, Donald (Annette) of Clarks, Cecil (Janine) of Idaho Springs, Colo., and Tom (Joanie) of Butte, Mont.; 10 daughters, Joan "Jody" (Herman) Blake of Scranton, Pa., Kathleen (Skip) Boruchin of Edmond, Okla., Lois (Keith) Bergman of Craig, Pauline (Dallas) Benson and Deb (Alan) Smith, all of Butte, Mont., Diane Groetzinger and Terry Steffenson of Hudson, Colo., Rosetta (Marvin) Walker of Renton, Wash., Gwen (Dale) Roher of Moldova, Russia, Pam (Dru) Duering of Grand Island, and Waunetta "Neta" (Bob) Wright of David City; 34 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Frances Stromberg of Clarks, Annabelle Swanson of Polk and Geraldine "Betty" Hancock of Omaha; and two brothers, Marvin "Cotton" of Polk and Gerald "Bobby" of Hastings.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1997; one son, Richard "Dickie"; one daughter, Lorrie; three grandchildren; and three brothers, Willard, Maurice and Melvin "Silver".
Solt Funeral Home in Central City is in charge of arrangements.

Stella Toy
COLUMBUS - Stella M. Toy, 68, of Bellwood died Sunday, March 26, 2000, at the Columbus Manor.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Gass-Haney Funeral Home in Columbus with the Rev. Marie Paterik officiating. Burial is at the Bellwood Cemetery.
Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, all at the funeral home.

Rose Laska
GENOA - Rose B. Laska, 96, of Genoa died Monday, March 27, 2000, at the Columbus Community Hospital Inc.
Services are 10:30 Friday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Genoa with the Rev. Robert Nienaber officiating.
Anson Funeral Home in Genoa is in charge of arrangements.

Vernon Myers
GENOA - Vernon Myers, 67, of Genoa died Monday, March 27, 2000, at the Nebraska Veterans Home in Norfolk.
Services are pending with Hasch-Patrick Funeral Chapel in Genoa.

Janet Berck
OSCEOLA - Janet Lee Berck, 53, of rural Gresham died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, in Osceola.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelby with the Rev. John Ewton officiating. Burial is at the Hoffer cemetery in rural Gresham.
Visitation is from 10 a.m.- 8 p.m. Tuesday at Kepner-Roberts Funeral Home in Osceola.
Mrs. Berck was born Sept. 6, 1946, in Denver to Clayton and Margaret (Dunbar) Taylor. She attended Wheatridge, Colo., High School.
She married Burdette Berck Jan. 1, 1968, in Denver. She lived in Loveland, Colo., from 1968-75, then lived in rural Gresham from 1975-2000. She was a housewife.. She was a member of the UMW, WIFE, Lovefest and Awana. She was a Methodist.
Survivors include her husband; her parents of Grand Lake, Colo.; three sons, Timothy (Barbara) of Broken Arrow, Okla., Ross (Shelli) of Osceola and David (Amanda) of Leawood, Kan.; one foster daughter, Camrin (Joe) White of Washington, D.C.; one brother, Lynn (Sharon) Taylor of Rock Springs, Wyo.; one sister, June (Al) of Decourt, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and a mother-in-law, Virginia.

Helen Hajek
CLARKSON - Helen Hajek, 79, of Clarkson died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, at Alegent Health Memorial Hospital in Schuyler.
Services are pending at the Miller Funeral Home in Clarkson.

Lois Gaughen
SCHUYLER - Lois Gaughen, 63, of Schuyler died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, at BryanLGH Medical Center East in Lincoln.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Schuyler with the Rev. William Whelan officiating. Burial is at the Holy Cross Catholic cemetery in Schuyler.
Visitation is from noon-5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Svoboda Funeral Home North Chapel in Schuyler and after 6 p.m. at the church. Tuesday there is a 3 p.m. rosary for the Study Club at the funeral home and a 7 p.m. combined Parish and Knights of Columbus rosary at the church. Visitation continues Wednesday from 8:30 a.m.- 1:30 p.m. at the North Chapel.
Mrs. Gaughen was born Dec. 15, 1936, in Ulysses to Harol and Edith (Young) Lovelace. She graduated from Ulysses High School in 1954. She worked as a telephone operator in David City for two years before her marriage.
She married Bernard Gaughen May 25, 1956, in Ulysses. She co-owned and operated the Western Cafe in Schuyler with her husband from 1960 until May 1999. She was a member of the church.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Brenda (Tim) Dolezal of Schuyler; one son, Brian (Karen) of Schuyler; five grandchildren; one sister, Carol (Frank) Alt of Shelby; and one brother, R. Elton Lovelace of Jourdanton, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Melvin.
Memorial are suggested to the church, the Holy Cross cemetery or the Cancer Society.

Evelyn Williams
COLUMBUS - Evelyn Williams, 74, of Columbus died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at Columbus Manor.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at North Park Baptist Church in Columbus with the Rev. Jeff Street officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. today at Gass-Haney Funeral Home in Columbus and from 9-10 a.m. at the church Tuesday.
Mrs. Williams was born on Jan. 6, 1926, in Stevenson, Ala., to Elmer and Mattie Daniel (Smith) Cash. She attended school in Stevenson and a business school in Nashville, Tenn.
She married Melvin Thomason in 1947 and later married Clarence Williams on Nov. 23, 1960, in Chattanooga, Tenn.
She worked for Massey-Stone-Kirkland law firm in Chattanooga. She moved to Columbus in 1968. She worked for the Columbus Telegram, Becton-Dickinson and then owned the Gallery Frame Shop from 1981-92. Most recently she worked part-time at Wal-Mart.
She was a member of the church.
Survivors are her husband; one son, Paul Thomason of Lincoln; two daughters, Toni (Bryan) Imus and Gail, both of Columbus; one stepdaughter, Debra (Ben) Rumore of Leeds, Ala.; one stepson, Nash (Ginger) Williams of Savannah, Ga.; one brother Jack Cash of Scottsboro, Ala.; one sister, Willie Wheeler of Stevenson, Ala.; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and one step-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.
Memorials may be given to the church or the American Cancer Society.
