Ruth Walton
COLUMBUS - Ruth A. Walton, 65, of Columbus died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Gass-Haney Funeral Home in Columbus with the Rev. Jim Bates officiating.
Burial is at the Roselawn cemetery in Columbus.
Visitation is from 3-8 p.m. Sunday and 9-10 a.m. Monday, all at the funeral home.
Mrs. Walton was born May 15, 1934, in Conway, Iowa, to Orville and Lizzie (Shafer) Kammerer.
She married
Charles Favors June 7, 1952, in Plattsmouth.
She later married
Donald Walton Dec. 20, 1975, in Joplin, Mo.
She was a homemaker and lived most of her life in Columbus.
Survivors include her husband; four sons, Edward (Sharon) Favors, Patrick (Joni) Favors and Rodney (Rana) Favors, all of Columbus, and Michael (Shelley) Favors of Joplin; two daughters, Cheryl (Brad) June of Dorchester and Charlotte (Doug) Schwartzer of Livingston, Mont.; a stepdaughter, Joyce (Tony) Martinez of Columbus; a sister, Edith Brown of Phoenix; a brother, Eldon (Arlene) Kammerer of Iowa; 32 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Cyril Palik
DAVID CITY - Cyril F. Palik, 91, of David City died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at the Butler County Health Care Center in David City.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in David City with the Rev. Casey Porada officiating.
Burial is at the parish cemetery.
Visitation is from until 9 p.m. today with a 7:30 p.m. wake service followed by Knights of Columbus rosary, all at the Roberts Funeral Home in David City.
Mr. Palik was born Nov. 16, 1908, in Bruno to Rudolph and Frances (Wittera) Palik.
He attended rural District 23 School in Butler County.
He married
Agnes Kriz Nov. 11, 1940, in Brainard.
He was a Bruno and David City area resident all his life.
He was a farmer.
He also worked as a mechanic at the State Department of Roads for six years and as a custodian at the Butler County Rural Power District for eight years.
He was a member of the church and the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include two sons, J. Robert (Janet) of David City and John of Michigan; a brother, Louis (Lillian) of David City; two sisters, Mary and Agnes, both of David City; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1995; his parents; four brothers; and two sisters.
Frances Weiss
COLUMBUS - Frances Mary Weiss, 84, of Platte Center died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, at the Gretna Nursing Home.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Platte Center with the Rev. Rod Kneifl officiating.
Burial is at the Sts. Patrick/Joseph cemetery in Platte Center.
Visitation is after 3:30 p.m. today with a 7:30 p.m. vigil and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday, all at the church.
Mrs. Weiss was born Sept. 20, 1915, in rural Genoa to Frank and Katherine (Kush) Prorok.
She married
George J. Weiss Sr. Oct. 20, 1937, in rural Tarnov.
She worked at St. Mary's Hospital and then worked for Becton-Dickinson for 17 years.
She was a member of the church, St. Ann's Sodality and the Sewing Circle.
Survivors include two daughters, Catherine (Allen) Kallhoff and Judith (John) McCann, all of Omaha; two sons, George Jr. (Betty) of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Timothy (Bobbi) of Springdale, Ark.; a sister, Florence Dubas of Grand Island; a brother, Sylvester of Valley; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three sisters, Theresa Kamper, Angeline Micek and Julia Zabawa; and three brothers, Alex, Frank Jr. and Theo Prorok.
Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Church in Platte Center.

Muriel Bartholomew
ORD - Muriel N. Bartholomew, 82, of Ord died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, at the Valley County Nursing Home in Ord.
Memorial services are 11 a.m. Saturday at the Taylor United Methodist Church in Ord with the Rev. Michael Lainge officiating.
A private family burial will be held at the Ord City Cemetery.
Mrs. Bartholomew was born Dec. 29, 1917, in Valley County to Jasper and Carrie (Worm) Van Slyke.
She was raised in the Ord area and attended country school in Valley County.
She married
Earl Bartholomew July 7, 1937, in Loup City.
The couple lived in Ord until 1942 when they moved to Taylor. He died April 13, 1975.
She lived in Taylor until 1997 when she moved to the Parkview Village in Ord.
In December 1999 she became a resident of the Valley County Nursing Home in Ord.
She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Kent Korner Klub, School Grandparent Program, and wrote the Plaza News for the Ord Quiz and the Taylor Clarion.
She enjoyed quilting, cards, reading, baking and collecting teapots and state spoons.
Survivors include two sons, Harold of Taylor and Jack of Columbus; two daughters, Sharon Ruzicka of St. Paul and Gloria Dunbar of Overland Park, Kan.; a brother, Vernon Van Slyke of Arcadia; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to the Taylor Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Sally Byrnes
COLUMBUS - Sally Byrnes, 83, of Columbus died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, at Edgewood Vista in Columbus.
Services are 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus with the Rev. Dan Keller officiating.
Burial is at the parish cemetery.
Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. today at Gass-Haney Funeral Home in Columbus with a 7 p.m. vigil.
Mrs. Byrnes was born Sept. 5, 1916, in Howells to Ludwig and Anna (Mensik) Coufal.
She graduated from Howells High School, attended St. Mary of the Woods College in Indiana and graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in home economics.
She did her dietetics internship at the Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh.
She married
Dr. Adolph Cimfel in 1941 in Howells.
She later married
John Byrnes on Dec. 9, 1948 in Lincoln.
She lived most of her life in Columbus.
She was a registered dietitian and a homemaker.
She was a member of the church, Catholic Daughters of America and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Tom (Elaine) of Boulder, Colo.; a daughter, Jane (Richard) Gephardt of St. Louis; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; and a sister, Arlene Malec.
