U.S., Obituary Collection, 1930-Current

John Jensen, 95
4/22/01 - 4/6/97 John Jensen, 95 of Fremont and formerly of the Bennington-Washington-Arlington area died Sunday, April 6, 1997 at Arbor Manor in Fremont.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church in Fremont. Rev. Mark Grorud and Rev. Benard Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial cemetery in Fremont.

Visitation at Ludvigsen Mortuary will be Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with visitation at the church one hour before the service.

John Jensen was born April 22, 1901 in Denmark to Jens and Marie "Nielsen" Jensen. He left Denmark at noon on Nov. 26, 1920. He arrived in New York on the evening of Dec. 9, 1920 and got to Washington, Nebr. Dec. 12, 1920. He worked for area framers. He attended Dana College in Blair in 1924 - 25.

He worked for a farmer in Marquette, Nebr. in 1927 and then returned to Washington before moving to Kansas City to work for the American Eagle Aircraft Co. in late 1927. He attending the Porterfield Flying School in Kansas City in 1928 and received his pilot's license. In late 1928, he returned to Washington and in 1929 he moved to Marquette.

On Jan. 30, 1930, he married Alma Lagoni at Kronborg, Nebr. They farmed near Hampton, Nebr. the next 10 years and in 1940 they moved to a farm southeast of Arlington. In 1955, they moved to a farm near Washington. They sold that farm in the fall of 1970 and in Feb. 1971 they moved to Fremont.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Fremont and the Farm Bureau of Washington County.

Survivors are a sister, Sena Rhea of Fremont and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma in May of 1996.

Memorials may be given to First Lutheran Church.

Irene Kruthoff, Kruthoff, 66
5/1/30 - 4/7/97

Irene Kruthoff, 66 of Arion, Iowa died Monday, April 7, 19797 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison.

Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Thursday at Huebner Funeral Home in Denison with family present from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. that evening.

She was the mother of Mark Kruthoff of Blair.

Irene Kruthoff was born May 1, 1930 to Carl William and Ernestine Sieckmann Schmidt in St. Louis, Mo. She was baptized May 14, 1930 and was confirmed April 18, 1943 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. She received her elementary education at the Grant Township School and Zion Lutheran School in Denison. She graduated from the Denison High School in 1948 and continued her education at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital, receiving a registered nurse degree in 1951. She received her nurse practitionern - ship in 1976 from the University of Colorado.

On Dec. 26, 1954, she married Dale Kruthoff at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. They lived in Denison until 1957, when they moved to a farm near Arion.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Survivors are her husband, Dale of Arion; three daughters, Karen, Cynthia and Kristine, all of Omaha; two sons and a daughter - in - law, Carl of Denison and Mark and Paula of Blair; two grandchildren, Sarah Kruthoff and Ashlee Kruthoff; two step - grandchildren, Josh Biffar and Heidi Green; a sister and brother - in - law, Barbara and Earl Petersen, Lake Park, Minn.; her mother - in - law, Marie Kruthoff of Denison; one brother - in - law and his wife, David and Georgia Kruthoff of Bay City, Texas and three nephews and five nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Doreatha Millrons, 72
11/3/24 - 4/8/97

Doreatha "Betty" Millrons, 72 of Blair died Tuesday, April 8, 1997 at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at First Christian Church in Blair. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Doreatha Millrons was born Nov. 3, 1924 at Blair to Sam and Bid Moore.

Survivors are her husband, Allison "Allie" Millrons; daughters, Becky Millrons, Marilyn Miller and Trudy Cooley; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a special niece, Judy Thompson of Creston, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Roy Rutledge, 96
11/13/1900 - 4/6/97
Roy Rutledge, 96 of Oakland, Nebr. died Sunday, April 6, 1997 at the Oakland, Nebraska, Memorial Hospital.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Palmquist-Pelan Mortuary in Oakland.

Roy Rutledge was born Nov. 13, 1900 in Herman to David and Catherine ( Cooper ) Rutledge. He attended school in Herman. He farmed near Herman until 1941 and then farmed east of Oakland until 1943. He worked as a stationary engineer at the Mead Ordinance Plant, the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Tip Top and Oakland Memorial Hospital until his retirement in 1979. He also owned The Hilltop Cafe in Oakland for many years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Herman.

On Dec. 18, 1924, he married Josie Miller at Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Survivors are his wife, Josie of Oakland; a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Jay Rennerfeldt of Papillion, Nebr.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Everett and Virginia Rutledge of Plainview, Nebr. and David and Carol Rutledge of Denver, Colo.; a daughter, Mary Holt of Kearney, Nebr.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Kathleen Rutledge of Payson, Ariz. and Dr. David and Marian Rutledge of Wellsley Hills, Mass.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; one brother; two grandchildren and a son-in -law, Charles Holt.

Memorials may be given to the Oakland Heights Nursing Home or to the Oakland Rescue Squad.

Frieda Schneider, 98
6/14/1898 - 4/2/97

Frieda Schneider, 98 died Wednesday, April 2, 1997 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair.

Services were Saturday at the Campbell - Aman Funeral Chapel. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery.

Frieda Schneider was born June 14, 1898 in Rickert, Germany to Max and Anna ( Ehlers ) Harder. She immigrated to the United States in April of 1912 with her parents. On Aug. 10, 1917, she married Charles E. Schneider.

Survivors are a daughter - in - law, Margaret Schneider of Hemet, Calif.; a niece and her husband, Frieda and Elmer Petersen of Bennington and a granddaughter, Joyce Page.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, who died April 18, 1982; a son, Edward; nine sisters and five brothers.

Memorials may be given to Good Shepherd Lutheran Home.

Frank Doran, 34
5/14/62 - 4/5/97
Frank Donald Doran, 34, of Omaha died Saturday, April 5, 1997 in Omaha.

Services are Wednesday at St. James Church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Doran was born May 14, 1962 in Lincoln, Nebr. to Dwight and Mary Anne Ekeler Doran. He was a freelance computer - aided designer.

Survivors are his parents; brothers and sisters - in - law, Joe and Renee Doran of Kennard; Paul and Stephanie Doran of Barrington, Ill. and Fred and Julie Doran of Omaha; sisters and brothers - in - law, Geri and Al Yanes of Rochester, Minn. and Dorene Doran of Omaha; four nieces and four nephews and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorials may go to St. James Church or the Epilepsy Foundation.

John A. Gentleman Westside Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
