Anna Barton, 90

Anna Barton, 90 of Blair died Sunday, April 6, 1997 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Campbell - Aman Funeral Home. A family graveside service will be held in the Avoca, Iowa, Cemetery.
Anna Barton was born Dec. 29, 1906 to Ray and Mary (Kruse) Triplett. After she graduated from Herman High School, she attended Wayne State College and then graduated from Bishop Clarkson School of Nursing in 1928.
In 1934, she married
Roscoe H. Barton at Omaha. They lived in Chicago after their marriage until 1954, when they moved to Denver. They lived there until 1967. They then moved to Sun City, Ariz. In 1994, she moved to Blair, where she lived until her death.
She was a member of the United Protestant Women of Sun City and the Sun City Golf League. From 1954 to 1967 she was head nurse of the Tonsil Department of the Children's Hospital in Denver.
Survivors are two daughters and sons - in - law, Mary Lou and Vaughn Farrens, Tekamah, and Beverley and Donald Kelley of Littleton, Colo.; two sons and daughters - in - law, Douglas Charles and Janette Barton, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Richard and Carole Barton, Loveland; 14 grandchildren; 12 great - grandchildren; three sisters, Alice Lamb, Marion Brodersen and Donna Rae Jordan, all of Blair, and one brother, Jack Triplett, Tekamah.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers and one sister.
Memorials may be directed to the Good Shepherd Home Chapel Fund.

Joe Breithaupt, 57

Joseph E. Breithaupt, 57, died Saturday, April 5, 1997 at his home in rural Blair.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Country Bible Church. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Campbell - Aman Funeral Home.
Joe Breithaupt was born Feb. 26, 1940 in rural Blair to Elmer and Annie (Thompson) Breithaupt. He attended elementary school at Sutherland School and graduated from Blair High School. He served in the Air Force. He farmed in the Washington County area his entire life. He had played softball in the senior league in Omaha.
Survivors are his two sons and daughters - in - law, Ken and Mara Breithaupt and Jim and Barb Breithaupt; a daughter and son - in - law, Debbie and Mark Frederick, all of Blair; seven grandchildren, Ty Breithaupt, Amanda Frederick, Ashley Frederick, Whitney Frederick, Jaret Breithaupt, Chase Breithaupt and Connor Breithaupt, a sister and brother - in - law, Emyle and Gene McWilliams, Blair; a nephew and his wife, Calvin and Shari McWilliams and a niece and her husband, Kathleen and Jon Pounds, all of Blair.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
George Christo, Sr., 85

George Christo, Sr., 85, died Saturday, March 29, 1997 at his home northeast of Albion, Nebr.
Services were April 1 at Immanuel - Zion Lutheran Church in rural Albion. Rev. Larry Spomer is officiated. Burial was in the Immanuel - Zion South Cemetery.
He is the father of Delores Matson of Blair.
George Christo was born April 1, 1911 at Newman Grove, Nebr., to Alex and Marie Constantine Christo. He grew up between Albion and Newman Grove, receiving his education through the sixth grade at Boone County School District No. 57.
On Dec. 12, 1935, he married
Edith Daigh at Immanuel - Zion Lutheran Church. He farmed his entire life in the Southbranch area. After his wife's death Feb. 12, 1992, he continued to live on the farm until his death.
Survivors are one son and daughter - in - law, George, Jr. and Pat of Petersburg, Nebr.; two daughters and sons - in - law, Delores and Dale Matson of Blair and Evelyn and Mike Breist of Sioux Falls, S.D.; 13 grandchildren; 10 great - grand - children; three sisters and brothers - in - law, Irene and Charles Merritt of Port Hvereme, Calif.; Ann and Keith Jewel of Albion and Rosie and Hank Bohm of Norfolk, Nebr.; one brother and sister - in - law, John and Agnes Christo of Marshalltown, Iowa, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents; four brothers, Tom, Pete, Jim and Henry and one sister, Helen.
Casket bearers were Dana Matson, Dick Matson, Darrell Matson, Dylan Briest, Wyatt Briest, Gregory Christo and Dustin Christo.
Kathy Nelson was organist. Singers were Janice Tisthammer and Linda Spomer.
Harold Hansen, 79

Harold C. Hansen, 79 died Friday, April 4, 1997 at a nursing home in Harlingen, Tex.
Graveside services are 1 p.m. Tuesday at Mont Meta Memorial Park in Texas.
Harold Hansen was born June 5, 1917 at Kennard. He was the retired owner of the Hansen and Son Distributing Co. of Harlingen. The firm was a Frito - Lay snack products distributor for the Rio Grande Valley area for over 40 years. He served in World War II as a U.S. Army Air Corps pilot in England, flying 35 missions in B - 24 and B - 17 bombers with the 493rd Bomb Group of the Eighth Air Force. He ended his military service as a major in the U. S. Air Force Reserve. He married
Bridget Elizabeth Goodman.
Survivors are sons, Dennis Hansen of Houston, Tex. and Rod Hansen of Ft. Myers, Fla.; daughters, Pamela Hansen of Ft. Myers and Betty Ann Galvan of Ft. Myers; a grandson, Patrick Galvan of Ft. Myers; granddaughters, Laura E. Hansen of Houston; Lisa Galvan and Jennifer Galvan, both of Ft. Myers; a sister - in - law, Anna (Mrs. Patrick) McAteer of Brownsville, Tex.; a daughter - in - law, Judith E. Hansen of Houston; a niece, Patricia Johnson Hodge of Brownsville; a son - in - law, Ralph Galvan of Ft. Myers and a nephew, Kip Johnson Hodge of Brownsville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bridget in 1995.

Alma Kruger, 103

Alma E. Kruger, 103, of Fremont and formerly of Arlington, died Thursday, April 3, 1997 at Arbor Manor in Fremont.
Services were Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church north of Arlington. Rev. Michael L. Rogers and Rev. Dennis Maaske officiated. Burial was in the St. Paul's Church Cemetery.
Alma Kruger was born Aug. 25, 1893 in rural Hooper, where she grew up. She was a sales clerk at the former Lallman Store in Winslow and the former Schafersman Store in Telbasta, Nebr., prior to her marriage.
She married
Ewi F. Kruger Jan. 10, 1926 at Arlington. They farmed five miles north of Arlington. After her husband's death she returned to the rural Hooper area until moving to Fremont in 1949. She moved to Arlington in 1987 and had been living at Arbor Manor since Feb., 1990.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the Women's Missionary League and the Ladies' Quilting Group.
Survivors are her foster daughter - in - law and care giver, Esther Royuk of Arlington; nieces, Gladys Boschult of Colorado; Floma Springan of Nickerson and Beatrice Bartling of Fremont; a nephew, Earl Strenger of Fremont; and a brother - in - law, Albert Kruger of Fremont.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Julia (Schrader) Hartung; her husband; a foster son, John Royuk; brothers, Fred Hartung and Henry Hartung; and sisters, Kathryn Bartling, Emma Strenger, Olga Denison and Margaret Brandert.
Pallbearers were Mark Penney, William Springan, Robert Denison, Douglas Denison, Brian Greunke, Brent Royuk, Michael Royuk, Rick Hilgenkamp and Donald Kruger.
Memorials may be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

David A. "Art;" Lacey, 53, died at his Fremont home Saturday, April 5, 1997, as a result of complications of cancer.
A memorial service, conducted by the Fremont Masonic Lodge No. 15 AF & AM will be 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. It is open to the public.
David A. Lacey was born March 2, 1944 in Fremont where he lived most of his life. He worked for the Fremont City Street Department until becoming disabled through illness in 1994. He had previously worked for Arps Redi - Mix and Paden Construction and had owned the Highlander Coin - operated Laundry.
On Dec. 1, 1993, at St. Thomas, The Virgin Islands, he married
Joyce "Marie;" Fritz.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont; the Fremont Masonic Lodge No. 15 AF & AM; Arbor Vitae Chapter No. 92, Order of Eastern Star and was a member and past president of the Breakfast Optimist Club.
Survivors are his wife, Marie; sons and daughter - in - law, Vince and Kelly Andreasen of Omaha and Jason Andreasen of Ft. Carson, Colo.; daughters and sons - in - law, Jenny and Roger Thompson, Alma, Nebr.; Bobbie and Lee Cramer, Lewiston, Nebr.; Tina Nillson, Odell, Nebr.; and Erin Kubel, Fremont; his father, Ivan Lacey, Concorde, Calif.; his mother, Marie Hammond of Fremont; brothers and sisters - in - law, Ray and Doni Lacey, Longmont, Colo.; Dan Hammond, Fremont and Terry and Peg Hammond, Ames, Nebr.; one sister, Patsy Lacey, Fremont and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his step - father, Orvil Hammond.
