Harold Brandert, 85

Harold E. Brandert, 85 of Fremont died Sunday, June 29, 1997 at Arbor Manor in Fremont.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. Rev. Burnell Beyers will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m.; Wednesday from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. at Moser Memorial Chapel; and on Thursday at the church one hour prior to service time.
Harold E. Brandert was born Sept. 10, 1911 in Washington County to Herman and Fredericka (Meyer) Brandert. He grew up in Washington County.
On March 3, 1935, he married
Selma Echtenkamp at Arlington. After his marriage, he and his wife farmed east of Winslow. He retired from farming in 1978 and moved to Fremont in 1988. He and his wife helped originate and plan the annual Lutheran Orphans Festival for the Lutheran Orphanage in Fremont.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Fremont; a life member of the Lutheran Laymen's League; and was a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, east of Winslow.
Survivors are a son and daughter - in - law, David and Shirley Brandert of Fremont; a daughter, Karen Brazda of Fremont; a former son - in - law, Doug Brazda of West Point; a sister, Alice Stork of Fremont; seven grandchildren; four great - grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Selma and brothers, Clayton Brandert and Clarence Brandert.
Pallbearers will be Corey Brandert, Scott Brazda, Rich Brazda, Brad Diers, Don Olsen and Robert Betkie.
Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or Lutheran Family Services.
Edna L. Buehrer, 88

Edna L. Buehrer, 88, died Monday, June 23, 1997.
Services were Friday at Sievers - Sprick Funeral Home in Fort Calhoun. Burial was in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.
Edna L. Buehrer was born May 18, 1909, on a farm five miles west of Fort Calhoun to William and Bertha (Fischer) Iversen, Washington County farm pioneers. She lived most of her early life in the Fort Calhoun community and was active in 4 - H club work. In 1941, she went to La Porte, Ind., where she was later employed as an insurance administrator for Benefit Trust Life of Chicago. She left that position in August, 1972. She was married
to George Adam Buehrer.
Survivors are one son and daughter - in - law, David and Willon; two grandchildren; one sister, Celia Schneider of Blair; one nephew, Dean Schneider of Omaha; a cousin, Goldie Neilsen of Fort Calhoun and many nieces and nephews in the LaPorte and Chicago area.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George on Dec. 21, 1971.
Laura R. Dunklau

Laura R. Dunklau died Wednesday, June 25, 1997 at the Fremont Area Medical Center in Fremont.
Private graveside services were held Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, north of Arlington. Rev. Timothy Gierke officiated.
Laura R. Dunklau was born June 25, 1997 in Fremont to Tim A. and Joyce (Greene) Dunklau of Arlington.
Survivors are her parents; two sisters, Kelly Dunklau and Brianna Dunklau, both of Arlington; her grandparents, LeRoy and Donna Dunklau of Arlington and Delores Greene of Charter Oak, Iowa; and her great - grandparents, Esther Greene of Denison, Iowa and Ethel Danielmeyer of Arlington.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Charles Greene.
Lee Guyer, 70

Lee Lippincott Guyer, 70, of Wayzata, died at his home on Wednesday, June 25, 1997.
Lee Lippincott Guyer was born Nov. 24, 1926 in Blair to H. Lyle and Viva (Lippincott) Guyer. After graduating from Blair High School in 1944, he entered the Air Force, was stationed at various bases around the United States and spent one year in Germany.
He attended Creighton College, Dana College and then graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan in 1949.
On Aug. 15, 1948, he married
V. Ione Jespersen in Blair.
He began his business career in the farm implement industry with Kelly Ryan where he worked for two years. He was with the Farmhand Company for 18 years and was a traveling salesman for the upper Midwest. He was later national sales manager for that company. In 1969, he purchased Vent - A - Hood in Hopkins, Minn. His work in the appliance business expanded when he founded Guyer's Builders Supply in 1975 and Highline Distributing in 1980. He sold Guyer's Builders Supply in 1984. In 1987, he sold Vent - A - Hood to his sons, Hal and Randy, and in 1995, sold Highline Distributing, before retiring.
He sang in the Minnetonka United Methodist Church Choir and in a men's group called "The; More than Four but Less Than Six" quintet.
Survivors are his wife, Ione; sons and daughter - in - law, Hal and Sandra of Shorewood, Minn.; Randy of Minnetonka, Minn.; a daughter and son - in - law, Kristin and David Jones of Minneapolis, Minn.; two granddaughters, LeAnne and Lindsay Guyer of Minnetonka; two step - granddaughters, Erica and Brook Carlson of Shorewood; two sisters, Lyla Woodworth of Hastings, Neb. and Mildred Hill of Huntington, Verm. and one brother, Glen of Oceanside, Calif.
Memorials may be given to the Minnetonka United Methodist Church or the Leukemia Society.

Denver Johnson, 82, of Fremont died Tuesday, June 24, 1997, at Valhaven Nursing Center in Valley.
A Masonic memorial service was held Saturday at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Stillwater, Okla.
Denver Johnson was born Feb. 2, 1915 in Osgood, Mo. to Clarence R. and Delilah (Glidewell) Johnson. He grew up at Chillicothe, Mo. and lived at St. Joseph, Mo. before moving to the Arlington and Fremont area in 1954. He was a truck driver and dispatcher for Bell Creek, Inc. at Arlington and had also worked as a dispatcher for Hunt Transportation in Omaha.
On June 28, 1942 at Los Angeles, Calif., he married
Dorothy Flick.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Fremont; Hiram Masonic Lodge No. 52 A.F. & A.M. of Arlington; the Scottish Rite and Tangier Shrine Temple in Omaha.
Survivors are his wife, Dorothy; sons, Darwin Johnson, Dennis Johnson and Denver Johnson; daughters, Dawna Imus and Deanna Seals; brothers, Claude Johnson of Fremont; James Johnson of Chico, Calif. and Kenneth Johnson of Tennessee; a sister, Marjorie Worth of Excelsior Springs, Mo. and Mae Rucker of Kent, Wash.; 12 grandchildren and 10 great - grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant sons; three brothers and two sisters.
Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont was in charge of arrangements.
Lyle Mathiesen, 54
Lyle Richard Mathiesen, 54 of Des Moines, Iowa, died Wednesday, June 25, 1997 of a heart attack at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.
Services were Monday at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens. Burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery.
Lyle Richard Mathiesen was born in Blair. He was a crew dispatcher for the Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha. He had lived in Des Moines for 26 years.
He was a member of the Saylor Fire Department for 20 years and had served as its fire chief. He was also a member of All Saints Parish/St. Mel's Chapel.
Survivors are his wife, Lucille Mathiesen of Des Moines; sons, Kevin Mathiesen of Waukee, Iowa and Matt Mathiesen of Des Moines; a daughter, Carrie Mathiesen of Des Moines; a brother, Ervin Mathiesen of Blair and two grandchildren.
