Greg and Debbie Carberry of Omaha are the parents of a son, Alec Sterling, who was born May 21, 1997, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha. He weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces, measuring 19 1/2 inches long.
He joins one brother, Ben, 9.
His grandparents are Ray and Ann Warren of Blair; and Ellen Carberry of Council Bluffs. His great - grandmother is Myrtle Olson of Tekamah.

Rebecca and Larry Nielsen of Blair are the parents of a daughter, Taylor Jo, who was born June 22, 1997, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. She weighed 6 pounds, 10 ounces, measuring 20 1/2 inches long.
She joins one brother, Ryan Joseph, 17 months.
Her grandparents are Duane and Denise Taylor of Fort Calhoun; and Davin and Margaret Nielsen of Blair. Her great - grandparents are Carol Nielsen of Fontenelle; and Ann Whitehill of Blair.

Lorraine B. Holmes, 85 of Fremont and formerly of Kennard and Blair, died Tuesday, June 24, 1997 at Arbor Manor in Fremont.
Services are pending at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont.
Beverly A. Kubie, 63

Beverly A. Kubie, 63, formerly of Blair, died Tuesday, June 24, 1997 in Norfolk.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Campbell - Aman Funeral Home in Blair. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday.
Kubie was born Jan. 21, 1934 in Craig, Neb. to Paul and Ethel ( Cummings ) Grey. She attended school in Craig. She later moved to Herman. On Oct. 30, 1949, she married
Vernon Kubie in Craig. They lived in Blair.
Survivors are her husband, Vernon A. Kubie, of Omaha; three sons, Paul of Denver, Colo.; Dennis of Kennewick, Wash. and Kevin of Blair; three brothers, Mike Tucker of Omaha; Tim Tucker of Texas and Steve Tucker of Blair; two sisters, Marilyn Longo of Westerly, Rhode Island and Patricia Hanson of Omro, Wis.; six grandchildren and one great - grandchild.
Albert W. Kruger, 88

Albert W. Kruger, 88 of Fremont died Saturday, June 14, 1997 at Arbor Manor in Fremont.
Services were Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Rev. David Loeschen officiated. Burial was in Memorial Cemetery.
Albert W. Kruger was born Sept. 24, 1908 on the family farm near Arlington to F. W. and Lena ( Dunklau ) Kruger. He grew up on the farm.
On Jan. 10, 1937, he married
Verna L. Panning in the Immanuel Lutheran Church east of Winslow.
They farmed north of Arlington until 1943, when they moved into Fremont. He worked for a time for Fairmont Foods and H.P. Lau Co., a wholesale grocery company. Most of his working years in Fremont he was an insurance salesman for Aid Association for Lutherans. After his retirement, he worked in the Montgomery Wards store in downtown Fremont.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont and its Lutheran Laymen's League.
Survivors are his son and daughter - in - law, Don and Deanna Kruger of Rockford, Ill.; a daughter, Joyce Meeker of Wichita, Kan.; three grandchildren and two great - great - grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Verna in October, 1992.
Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church.

Mary Fletcher, 95

Mary E. Fletcher, 95 of Blair and formerly of Herman died Sunday, June 15, 1997 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Herman Cemetery.
Mary E. Fletcher was born Sept. 16, 1901 in Odense Fyn, Denmark to Hans Jorgen and Maren ( Johansen ) Larsen. She came to the United States in 1914 and made her home near Herman. She attended Hillcreek School.
On Sept. 20, 1924 she married
Ed Fletcher at Herman. She lived in Washington County during her lifetime, except for a few years during which she lived in Crawford, Neb..
Survivors are her friends.

Mae Halstead died Feb. 11, 1997 at El Cajon, Calif.

Margaret Hansen, 81

Margaret Dorn Hansen, 81 of Blair died Friday, June 13, 1997 at her daughter's home in Omaha after a bout with cancer.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.
Margaret Dorn Hansen was born Jan. 10, 1916 at Carl Junction, Mo., to Louis and Violet ( Moore ) Dorn. She attended Wayne State College, the University of California at Berkeley and Dana College, where she received her bachelor's degree in 1996, earning the honor of being the oldest person to receive a diploma at Dana.
On June 3, 1942, she married
Raymond C. Hansen in Mobile, Ala.
She was a 68 - year member of the United Methodist Church, where she was also a lifetime member and past president of the United Methodist Women. She had prepared the church's altar flowers, often using wildflowers, for over 25 years. She was Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, McKinley Chapter No. 161; and was a member of PEO Chapter HL and the Monday Afternoon Club in Blair.
Survivors are her three children, David Hansen of Blair, Jane Gilbert of Omaha and Richard Hansen of Blair; sisters, Jean Thompson of Raynham, Mass.; Virginia Simpson of Craig, Neb.; Violet Little of Marshfield, Mo. and Elaine Warren of Blair; a brother, George Dorn of Grand Island, Neb. and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, who was Blair's mayor from 1952 - 58.
Memorials may be given to First Untied Methodist Church, Dana College or the Methodist Hospice.
