Howard J. Long, 82 of Miami, Ariz. died Thursday, May 22, 1997.
Services were May 27 at Green Acres Chapel of Light in Phoenix, Ariz.
Howard J. Long was born Aug. 7, 1914 in Blair. He had lived in Arizona for more than 20 years.
Survivors are his wife, Lorraine ( Hansen ) Long; daughters, Linda ( Mrs. John ) Konfrst of Murray, Neb. and Carol Elliott of Phoenix; a sister, Thelma Caldwell of Blair; a brother, Roy of Omaha; three grandchildren and five great - grandchildren.

Otto Falk, 89

Otto Max Falk, 89 of Blair died Friday, May 30, 1997 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair.
Services were Monday at Campbell - Aman Funeral Chapel in Blair. Burial was in the Kennard Cemetery.
Otto Max Falk was born Nov. 1, 1907 in Herdenau, Germany to Fritz and Martha ( Haupt ) Falk. He attended school in Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1928. He lived in New York and several locations during his lifetime. He lived in Kennard for over 25 years before moving to Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in 1987. He was a chef and worked at the Cottonwood Marina.
Survivors are his daughter, Layna Greenwood of Fergus Falls, Minn. and nieces and nephews.
Campbell - Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Arnold H. Schmidt

Arnold H. Schmidt died Friday, May 23, 1997 at Crowell Memorial Home.
Services were May 27, 1997, at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Bennington. Rev. John Pierson officiated. Interment was at the German Cemetery, Bennington.
Arnold H. Schmidt was born Jan. 1, 1915, at Bennington to Henry and Marie ( Meyer ) Schmidt. He attended rural Bennington School. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church.
On Aug. 17, 1938, he married
Irene Voss at St. John's. He farmed, fed livestock and had dairy cows all of his life. He spent the last two years at Crowell Home in Blair.
Survivors are his wife, Irene, of Bennington; a daughter and son-in-law, Marlene, and Mike Smith, of Blair; sons and daughters-in-law, Sonny and Nancy, and Jerry and Betty, all of Bennington, and Roger and Patty of Fremont, 12 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
His parents, three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. Honorary bearers were Shane Jacobs, Bill Kinser, Aaron, Brent, Brian Schmidt, Rusty Schmidt, and Jeff Smith.
Pallbearers were Bob, Laverne and Melvin Schmidt; Marvin Enger, Robert Wiese and Richard Wiese.
Memorials can be given to St. John's Lutheran Church or the German Cemetery.

Leonard Vinderslev, 80

Leonard "Shorty" Vinderslev, 80, died Friday, May 23, 1997 in Morris, Minn.
Services were May 27, 1997 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Chokio, Minn. Rev. Mark Swanson officiated. Burial was in Chokio Lutheran Cemetery.
Leonard Vinderslev was born Dec. 22, 1916 in Kennard to Chris and Ida C. ( Christensen ) Vinderslev. He grew up on a farm near Herman, where he also received his education in a country school. Following his schooling, he worked for his father on the family farm as well as for other farmers in the Herman area. He moved to the Chokio area where he worked for local farmers from 1937 - 1941.
In May, 1942, he entered the U. S. Army and served as a medic at Army hospitals in North Africa and Italy. After his discharge in November, 1945, he returned to the Chokio area.
On March 16, 1946, he married
Mabel Zimmerman at St. Paul's' Lutheran Church in Chokio. They farmed in the Herman area for three years before returning to the Chokio area where they farmed in Baker Township, Stevens County. In 1980, they moved into Chokio and in 1981, they retired from farming.
He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Chokio. He was also active with the Chokio American Legion, the Morris Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a former member of the 9 - F Sportsman's Club in Morris.
Survivors are two sons and a daughter - in - law, Daryl and June of Appleton, Minn. and Glen of Winthrop, Minn.; two daughters and sons - in - law, Karen and Woody Blasing of Frazee, Minn. and Margo and Jim Marks of Woodbury, Minn.; seven grandchildren; one brother, Chris Vinderslev, Jr. of Friend, Neb.; three sisters, and a brother - in - law, Dorothy and Harold Magill of Hooper, Neb.; Vivian Kraemer of Smithfield, Va.; and Darlene Dodge of Omaha; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Dec. 10, 1991; his parents; six sisters and one brother.
Pallbearers were Allan Smith, Eddie Pinson, Rich Magill, Brad Vinderslev, Kevin Dodge and Scott Andrews.
Honorary pallbearers were Jeanie Hollen, Arnie Hollen, Harold Zimmerman, Mae Zimmerman and Floyd Benson.
Julene Amborn was organist.
Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris was in charge of arrangements.

Mike and Mae ( Eicke ) Farrar of Grand Prairie, TX are the parents of a daughter, Dahltyn Marie, born July 14. She weighed eight pounds, measuring 20 1/2 inches long.
She joins a brother, Griffen, three.
Her grandparents are Henry and LeMara Eicke, Washington; Jim and Wanda Farrar, Irving, TX and Donna Challacombe, Arlington, TX.
Her great - grandparents are Mabel Eicke of Omaha and Marjorie Misfeldt of Fremont.

Allen and Pamela Werner of Davenport are the parents of a daughter, Leah Michelle, born July 23, 1997. She weighed six pounds, eight ounces.
She joins two sisters, Sarah, 8, and Rachel, 5, and a brother, Dan, seven.
Her grandparents are Gary and Thelma Seevers of Blair and Marvin and Agnes Werner of Davenport.
Katheryn Lynn Gregerson

Tim and Tammy Gregerson of Herman are the parents of a daughter, Katheryn Lynn, born July 19, 1997, at Children's Hospital in Omaha. She weighed 5 pounds, 14 1/2 ounces, measuring 19 1/2 inches long.
She joins one brother, Garet, 2 1/2.
Her grandparents are Larry and Rosie Gregerson of Herman; and Warren and Brenda Bierman of Lexington.
Her great - grandparents are Hazel Gregerson of Blair; Albert and Katheryn Brown of Grant; and Helen Grant of Battle Creek.
