Gwenavere Williams, 77

Gwenavere A. Williams, 77, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 1997 at Marshall Browning Hospital in Illinois.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Du Quoin, Ill. Rev. Charles Hoekstra will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
Gwenavere A. Williams was born Feb. 17, 1920 in Blair to Zenos B. and Anna ( Sall ) Smith. On June 18, 1941, she married
Burt Williams.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Du Quoin.
She is survived by one daughter and son -in -law, Patricia and Lonnie James of Du Quoin; two sons and daughters -in -law, Jerry and Bonnie Williams of Du Quoin and Jeff and Rosann Williams of Baulkham Hills, Australia; 11 grandchildren and three great -grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Burt on Aug. 16, 1979; her parents; one brother and one sister.
Memorials may be given to the Hospice Room at Marshall Browning Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin is in charge of arrangements.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27 at First Lutheran Church for Stan Jensen of Blair who died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 1977. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Paul A. Jeppesen, 72

Paul A. Jeppesen, 72, of Pomona, Calif., died Sept. 21, 1997, at his home.
Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Blair Cemetery. Rev. John Nielsen will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Campbell - Aman Funeral Home Chapel.
Paul A. Jeppesen was a graduate of Dana College.
He was born June 27, 1925, in Indianapolis, Ind. He had been a Pomona resident since 1952.
He did graduate work at the University of Minnesota and Claremont Graduate School. Jeppesen taught at Chaffey High School for 33 years. He was a member of the California Retired Teachers Association.
He had also served with Gen. George Patton in the Battle of the Bulge.
He was a member of the Danish Brotherhood.
Survivors include his wife, Ada; and his brother, Herbert Jeppesen of Chicago, Ill.

Ralph D. Petersen, 62

Ralph D. Petersen, 62, of Gulfport, Miss., died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 1997, in Gulfport.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the Riemann Funeral Home Chapel in Gulfport. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be with full military honors in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
Ralph D. Petersen was born June 6, 1935, in Herman to Albert and Laura Petersen. He graduated from Herman High School and attended Memphis State University.
He had retired as a Senior Master Sergeant after a 28 - year career in the U.S. Air Force.
He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal with three Bronze Stars, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal with five Bronze Stars, the National Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and Vietnam Service Medal.
Following his military career, he worked in Federal Civil Service in the Department of Veteran's Affairs and Department of Defense for more than 14 years. His last assignment was with the headquarters, 2nd Air Force at Keesler as a resident course program manager.
He had received five Performance awards and a Sustained Superior Award.
Survivors include his wife, Joline, of Gulfport; three sons, Thomas D. Petersen of Ocean Springs, Miss.; Craig A. Petersen and Douglas E. Petersen, both of Gulfport; one daughter, Belinda Petersen of Arlington, Texas; his mother, Laura Petersen of Blair; two brothers Earl Petersen of Washington D.C. and Curtis Petersen, The Colony, Texas; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, Donald Petersen and Clifford Petersen.
Leona E. Wiese, 80

Leona E. Wiese, 80, of Blair died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 1997, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.
Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery. A prayer service will be Thursday at 8 p.m. at Campbell - Aman Funeral Home.
Leona E. Wiese was born on March 25, 1917, in rural Washington County to Peter A. and Mary ( Lund ) Johnsen. She attended the Dornacker School.
On Oct. 12, 1938, she married
Clarence Wiese in Blair. They lived in the Kennard and Rosehill area before moving to Blair, where she has lived the past 27 years.
She cooked at Cope's Cafe. She worked for Memorial Community Hospital in housekeeping for 12 years.
She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Blair Eagles and Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include one daughter, Leanna Metz of Blair; one brother, Raymond Johnsen of Bennington; one sister, Gladys Matzen of Blair; five grandchildren, Tina Barnard, Chester Wiese, Jr., Betty Sprick, Amy Hansen and Sheryl Metz; and five great - grandchildren, Jennifer Wiese, Natasha Wiese, Bryer Hansen, Lance Hansen and Bailey Metz.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clarence; one son, Chester William; three brothers, John, Mathias and Vern Johnsen and one sister, Edna Paulsen.
Memorials may be given to the Blair Rescue Squad or First Lutheran Church.

Summer Star Andersen

Trina Ward and Phil Andersen are the parents of a daughter, Summer Star Andersen, who was born Sept. 17, 1997, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. She weighed 5 pounds, 10 ounces, measuring 19 1/2 inches long.
She joins on brother, Adam, 16; and three sisters, April, 8; Paige, 5; and Brittany, 2.
Her grandparents are Don and Dee Ward of Blair; and Elmer and Carol Schmidt.
Her great - great grandparents are Arlene and Rusty Ward of Herman.
