Ralph L. Taylor, 88
Ralph L. Taylor, 88, of Gretna died Saturday, Oct. 5, 1997.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home in Lincoln. There will be a private inurrnment at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery.
Ralph L. Taylor was a retired Western Union worker. He was a Second Lieutenant in the Army during World War II.
He was a member of American Legion Post No. 216; Telephone Pioneers; was a founding president of the Western Electric Credit Union Lincoln; had served on the Gretna Election Board and had been a grand jury foreman.
Survivors are his wife, Betty R.; daughters and son - in - law, Cynthia A. Taylor, Omaha; and Lynne and Steven Shanahan, Ft. Collins, Colo.; grandchildren, Kelly Shanahan, Marin Shanahan and Patrick Shanahan; a sister, Georgia Weathers, Lincoln and nieces and nephews.
Jean Jensen, 78

Jean Jensen, 78, of Blair died Monday, Sept. 29, 1997 at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2 at the United Church of Christ ( Congregational ) . Burial will be in the Herman Cemetery.
Jean Margaret Jensen was born Sept. 20, 1919 in Howard County, Neb. to Ralph and Grace ( Collins ) Reynolds. She graduated from St. Paul High School and attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and Dana College. She taught in rural schools for 24 years. On Jan. 24, 1942, she married
Robert E. Jensen. They farmed in the Herman area. She moved to Blair in 1986.
She was a member of the Herman American Legion Post No. 274 Auxiliary, Blair Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and was president of the Home Improvement Club.
Survivors are her sons, Richard E. Jensen, Thomas R. Jensen and James Jensen; four grandsons, David Jensen, Brian Jensen, Kevin Jensen and Daniel Jensen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert in March of 1982; and a brother, Duane Reynolds.

Mary Ann Reining, 79

Mary Ann Reining, 79, of Blair died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 1997 at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha after a lingering illness.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Campbell - Aman Funeral Chapel.
Mary Ann Mich Reining was born April 10, 1918 at Granville, Iowa to Mary and Peter Mich. She graduated from Alton, Iowa, High School. On March 20, 1936, she married
Raymond Reining. She was employed at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair for 20 years.
She was a member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church since moving to Blair in 1943.
Survivors are her daughter and son - in - law, Trudy and Lyle Truhlsen, Blair; sons and daughters - in - law, Leonard and Faye ( Austin ) Reining, Midwest City, Okla.; Loren and Phyllis ( Anderson ) Reining, Kennard; and Jerry Reining, Honolulu, Hawaii; seven grandchildren; 12 great - grandchildren; a sister, Flora Hyde, Cherokee, Iowa and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray on Feb. 26, 1956; her parents; four brothers and two sisters.

Gerald Soll, 57
Gerald F. Soll, 57, of rural Fort Calhoun died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 1997 at Omaha.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. Rev. Gregg Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. with family receiving friends from 7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Charles "Curly" Eliassen, 88
Charles "Curly" M. Eliassen, 88, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 1997, in Sun City, Calif.
Mr. Eliassen was born July 15, 1909, in Blair to George and Maude Eliassen. He grew up in Blair and was a 1929 graduate of Blair High School, where he participated in dramatics and played football. He was also a graduate of Long Beach College in California. During World War II, he served in the US Army, TSGT, INF Branch, for three years with action in the Pacific Theater. He worked for the city of Los Angeles, Calif., where he trained life guards and taught swimming. He also was a sales representative for 20 years for Kerr Glass Company in Los Angeles. In 1974 he retired to Sun City, Calif..
Survivors are his wife, Claire; two brothers, Francis of Sun City and James of Beaverton, Ore.; and his sister, Bessie Mills of Fremont, Neb.
Sharon Baublitz, 59
Sharon Ruth Baublitz, 59, of Carthage, Mo., died Friday, Nov. 21, 1997 at McCune - Brooks Hospital at Carthage after a four - year illness.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Assemble of God Church in Carthage. Rev. Ron Blauvelt and Rev. James Perkins are officiating. Burial will be in the Avilla cemetery at Avilla.
Sharon Ruth Baublitz was born Jan. 30, 1938, at Benton, Ill. She graduated from Evangel College in Springfield, Mo., in 1960. She was a schoolteacher in Thedford, Neb., until 1977. She also taught at Ruskin Heights Elementary School in Kansas, City, Mo.; Omaha, Neb.; and South Sioux City, Iowa.
She married
Perry C. Baublitz Aug. 7, 1964, at Walthill, Neb. She moved to Carthage in January, 1997 from Blair.
She attended First Assembly of God Church at Carthage.
Survivors are her husband, Perry; two sons, Brad Baublitz, Reeds, Mo.; and Brenton Baublitz, DeSoto, Kan.; a brother, Ken Cornwell, Lincoln, Neb.; a sister, Nila Blauvelt, Casper, Wyo.; and eight grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Kent Gaines, Jeff Moore, Joel Cornwell, Vaughn Bluvelt, Bill Parker and Rome Freeman.
Ulmer Funeral Home in Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
Norman Bauer, 57
Norman Lee Bauer, 57, of Gresham, Ore., died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997 in Florida of a heart attack.
Services were Monday at Bateman Carroll Funeral Chapel in Oregon. Burial was in the Willamette National cemetery at Portland, Ore.
Norman Lee Bauer was born Sept. 22, 1940, in Villisca, Iowa. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps.
In 1962, he married
Pam Hankins. A ramp service worker for United Airlines for 36 years, he retired in 1995.
Survivors are his wife, Pam; a daughter, Kimberly Babb of Vancouver, Wash.; parents, Alvin and Minnie Bauer of Blair; a brother, Larry Bauer of Fremont, Neb.; sisters, Linda Thanasides of Tampa, Fla.; and Barbara Ellis of Reno, Nev.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra.
Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.
