Wayne H. LeGrande, Fremont, July 31, 2009, age 97
Wayne H. LeGrande died July 31 at Fremont Area Medical Center.
Wayne was born Jan. 7, 1912, to Louis and Dora (Williams) LeGrande of Morse Bluff. He grew up and farmed in Saunders County until 1943 when he moved to the North Bend area to farm. In 1978 he moved into North Bend, where he continued to work for other farmers. In 2000 Wayne moved to Fremont.
On Oct. 5, 1932, Wayne married
Ruby Roumph in Fremont. She died Jan. 7, 1974.
On Jan. 26, 1979, Wayne married
Helen Bakenhus Kluck at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Schuyler.
Wayne was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Fremont, Fraternal Order of Eagles #200 Fremont; former member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in North Bend and had served as a trustee and chairman of the Lutheran Laymen’s League.
Survivors include his wife, Helen, sons Harold (Eileen) LeGrande of Lincoln, Gary (Jane) LeGrande of Waukegan, Ill., Dennis LeGrande of Schuyler; daughters Donna Bone of Lincoln, Janice (Clyde) Wilkie, Sharon (Don) Sawtelle, all of Fremont, Patricia Moeller of Hooper, Kathy LeGrande of Blair; step-daughters Karen (Tom) Sindelar of Pierre, S.D., Jean Schleife, Marian Kluck, both of Omaha, Linda (Frank) McKenzie of Underwood, Minn.; sister Lucille Walla of Omaha, 24 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren.
The funeral was Aug. 4 at Good Shephard Lutheran Church with the Rev. Timothy Anderson and the Rev. Verdell Schramm officiating.
Burial will be at Maple Grove cemetery at Cedar Bluffs.
Memorials are established for the Good Shephard and St. Peter Lutheran churches and ENCOR.

Jerry D. Eaton, North Bend, July 23, 2009, age 63
Jerry D. Eaton died Thursday, July 23 in his North Bend home.
Jerry was born Jan. 18, 1946, in Fremont to Gerald and Ruth Eaton. He was married
to Michelle “Mick” Hansen on Dec. 16, 1972.
Jerry was a lifelong resident of North Bend, graduating from North Bend High School in 1964 and maintaining membership in the United Presbyterian Church. Following graduation he farmed and was an over-the-road truck driver.
Survivors include his mother, Ruth Eaton of North Bend; wife, Michelle of Fremont; son Eric (Brenda) Hansen of Fremont; daughters Jamie (Dwayne) Roberts of Pierce, Sonja (Greg) Hampton of Fremont; brother Delrae (Jan) Eaton of North Bend; six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held July 25 at Moser Memorial Chapel in North Bend with the Rev. Scot. Jensen, chaplain of Fremnot Area Medical Center officiating. Internment was at Woodland cemetery of North Bend.

Leslie L. Robinson, North Bend, July 17, 2009, age 78
Leslie L. Robinson died July 17 at Select Speciality Hospital in Omaha. Les was born Aug. 12, 1930, to Lewis and Laura (Carmichael) Robinson in Blair.
Les grew up in Blair and worked at Kelly-Ryan in Blair, Montgomery Ward in Omaha and Lincoln and operated a sporting goods store in North Bend from 1957 to 1960. He then farmed until the early 70s. Les moved into North Bend in 2002.
On July 3, 1955, Les married
Mary Pacas at North Bend.
Les was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Schuyler.
Les was an avid softball player and pitcher and was inducted into the Nebraska Softball Hall of Fame in 1991. He had served as pitching coach for girls softball at Midland College in Fremont and Dana College in Blair. Les and his granddaughter, Christine, conducted girls softball pitching clinics across Nebraska.
Survivors include his wife Mary; sons Jimmy (Brenda) Robinson, Russell Robinson, all of North Bend, Rollin (Kathi) Robinson of Columbus, Richard (LeAnn) Robinson of Liberty, Mo., Robert (JoAnn) Robinson of Scribner; brother Dale (Mary) Robinson of Blair; sisters Helen Paulson, Annie Lowther, both of Fremont; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
The funeral is July 22 at 10:30 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church with the Rev. Fred Andersen officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be at Woodland cemetery in North Bend.

Mary Jo (Peitzmeier) Kreikemeier, Rogers, July 16, 2009, age 46
Mary Jo Kreikemeier of Rogers, died Thursday, July 16, at her home.
Mary Jo was born June 26, 1963 in West Point to Joseph and Mary Ann (Feldhaus) Peitzmeier. She grew up south of Scribner and attended school in North Bend, graduating with the class of 1981. She studied at Lincoln School of Commerce to be a medical secretary.
On June 22, 1985, she married
Kenneth J. Kreikemeier and the couple settled north of Rogers in Colfax County. Mary Jo worked for the FSA (formerly ASCS) for 25 years. She also recently began working part time at Hy-Vee in Fremont.
She is survived by her husband Kenneth of Rogers; children Ashley, Samantha, Jared and Ryan, all at home, and Michelle of Omaha; sister Jody Peitzmeier of Lincoln, brothers Jerry Peitzmeier of Ames, Michael (Laura) Peitzmeier of Hooper, and Mark (Jill) Peitzmeier of Millard.
A Funeral Mass was held Monday, July 20, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point with burial at St. Michael’s Cemetery. A memorial has been established. Obit dated July 22, 2009
Marjorie (Dayringer) Bueoy, Fremont, July 12, 2009, age 65
Marjorie L. Bueoy of Fremont
died in her home July 12. She was
born May 15, 1944, to Clark and Gertrude (Fanshler) Dayringer.
On Sept. 4, 1960, Marjorie
married
Herman Bueoy in Detroit, Kansas. He survives. They moved to Fremont in May 1986. Marjorie worked at Tech-Industries until retiring in March 2000.
Survivors include son Lawrence Bueoy of Techumseh; daughters Valerie (Al) Aragon of Scribner, Dorothy (Terry) Blake of North Bend, Lorna (Johnny) Ellison of Booneville, Ark., Kimberley (Greg) Eyers of North Bend, Marlo Wells of Columbus, Wendy ( Arain) Ludwig of Scottsbluff; brothers Jackie (Melba) Templeton of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Tom (Kathy) Dayringer of Adrian, Mo.; 31 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren.
The funeral was July 15 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont with Rev. Jon Jacoby officiating.

Ida (Newsom) Settles, Cedar Bluffs, July 8, 2009, age 89
Ida Marie Settles died Wednesday, July 8, at the Fremont Area Medical Center at the age of 89.
Ida was born in North Bend on Oct. 2, 1919, to Henry and Ida (Nelson) Newsom. She was a 1937 graduate of North Bend High School and also earned a degree from Midland Lutheran College. Ida then taught at Dodge County school districts #72 and #59, as well as at Scribner, Malmo and Cedar Bluffs. She was also a K-12 librarian and media specialist.
Ida married
Lynn W. Settles May 4, 1943. In 1946 they moved to Cedar Bluffs and lived on a farm until moving into town in 1962. Following her retirement she spent 18 summers in Minnesota and 10 winters in Texas before returning to Cedar Bluffs in 2000 and moving to Fremont in 2006.
She held membership in the First Presbyterian Church at Cedar Bluffs, Presbyterian Women and the Flower Mission, American Legion Post #158 of Cedar Bluffs, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, and the Eastern Star.
Ida is survived by sons Dennis (Karen) Settles of Norfolk and Joel (Sarah) Settles of Maple Plain, Minn.; brother Keith Newsom of Grimesland, N.C.; sister Hazel Hanson of Marysville, Kan.; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Her funeral was held July 13 at First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Bluffs with Rev. Dr. William Lewis officiating. Burial was at Maple Grove cemetery in Cedar Bluffs.

Margaret (Sinkula) Heavican, Schuyler, July 4, 2009, age 84
Margaret Ann “Mag” Heavican died July 4 in Schuyler. The Memorial Mass will be July 10, 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Schuyler with Rev. Gerald Leise officiating.
Visiataion will be Thursday 5-8 p.m. at Kracl Funeral Chapel with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be at a later date.
Mag was born July 10, 1924, in Schuyler to Joseph J. and Greta (Dolan) Sinkula. She graduated from Schuyler High School in 1942.
On Sept. 14, 1944, she married
Michael James “Pete” Heavican at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church. Pete died in 1960.
Following Pete’s death, Mag ran the Schuyler Newstand, worked as a cook at Schuyler High School and was a United States Postal Worker for 22 years. She served twelve years as a member and secretary of the Schuyler Central High School Board of Education.
She is survived by her daughter Katherine “Kak”(Allen) Ernst, Schuyler, two grandsons; brother, Bill(Kathleen) Sinkula, Cincinnati, Ohio, two sisters-in law; Bernice Heavican of Schuyler and Monica Peiper of Dodge

Joe E. Pelan, Schuyler, July 3, 2009, age 65
Julius E. “Joe” Pelan died July 3 at his home. The burial Mass was July 6 at Divine Mercy Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Schuyler with Rev. Gerald Leise officiating.
Burial was at Schuyler cemetery Joe was born Aug.1, 1943, in David City to Ben and Agnes (Stava) Pelan. He graduated from David City High School. On September 16, 1967, he married
Eleanor Codr at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cedar Hill. They lived in Schuyler and Joe farmed and worked in electrical maintenance for Cargill for over 41 years.
Joe was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, UFCW Local 22 and Schuyler Eagle’s Club and served in the National Guard from 1964-1970.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Eleanor of Schuyler, two sons; Doug (Lisa) Pelan of Lincoln, Jeff (Vicki) Pelan of Elkhorn, three grandchildren; sister Evelyn (Don) Goodman of Omaha, brother, Emanuel Pelan of David City. Obit dated July 8, 2009
Albert Kavan, Sr., Colon, June 25, 2009, age 85
Albert Kavan, Sr., died June 25 at his home in Colon. He was born at the home of his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Clara Pacl, near Rescue on Sept. 10, 1923, to Albin and Mary (Pacl) Kavan. Albert was a 1939 graduate of Morse Bluff High School. He farmed with his father until going into the Army during World War II.
On Jan. 2, 1947, Albert married
Agnes Ludvik at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo. They farmed northwest of Colon.
Albert was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Cedar Bluffs and a former member of Wahoo Eagles Club, Pork Producers of Saunders County, and National Farmers Organization.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Agnes; daughters Algene (Dan) Mueller of Fremont, Kathleen Kavan of Honolulu, Hawaii; son Albert Lee (Barb) Kavan of Cedar Bluffs; sisters Irene Blatny of Oakland, Iowa, Delores (Jack) Nitz of Fremont, Nancy (James) Williams of Morse Bluff; brothers Melvin (Dorothy) Kavan, Donald (Karen) Kavan, all of Morse Bluff, Norman Kavan of Colon; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 3, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Colon. There will be a rosary July 2 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Joseph. Visitation will be July 2 from 2 to 4 p.m at Moser Memorial Chapel in Cedar Bluffs. Visitation and family receiving friends will be July 2 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Burial will be at Holy Rosary cemetery at Colon with military honors by Bartek-Carlson American Legion Post 265 at Colon.
