Amos Prochaska, Lincoln, June 19, age 29
Amos Lee Prochaska of Lincoln died June 19.
He was born on January 1, 1981, to Randy and Judy (Carlson) Prochaska in Fremont. Amos was a lifelong Lincoln resident.
Survivors include father and stepmother Randy and Joann Prochaska of Morse Bluff; mother Judy Prochaska of Lincoln; son Khyler Brooks of Lincoln; daughter Ava Graham of Lincoln; sisters Amanda (Chad) Trout of Omaha, Sasha Prochaska of Omaha; grandfather Adolph Prochaska of Prague; fiancé Chantel Gehlsen and children Kaelin and Ethan, all of Lincoln.
Funeral Services were held June 26 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Lincoln.
Memorials are directed to the Amos Prochaska Memorial at any Union Bank.

Matilda (Beranek) Soukup, North Bend, June 10, age 90
Matilda A. Soukup, 90, of North Bend, died June 10 at Birchwood Manor in North Bend.
Matilda was born Dec. 4, 1919, to Charles and Frantiska (Pallas) Beranek in Morse Bluff.
She married
Alvin E. Soukup on March 5, 1941, in Schuyler. The couple farmed near Morse Bluff. They moved into Morse Bluff in 1965. She had been residing at Birchwood Manor in North Bend since 2008.
She was a member of the Art Clubs and Quilt Clubs. She was previously employed in the dietary department at Birchwood Manor.
She is survived by sons Robert (Anne) Soukup of North Bend, Donald (Diane) Soukup of Henderson, Nev., and Richard Soukup of Sunnyville, Calif.; daughters Darlene (LeMoyne) Johnson of Bradenton, Fla., Joyce (Mike) Nelson of Hastings, Janice (Robert) Joyce of Provo, Utah, a sister, Ella Travnicek of North Bend; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 24 at Moser Memorial Chapel in North Bend with Rev. Neal Allen officiating. Burial will be at Killian cemetery at Morse Bluff.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23, and Thursday, June 24, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, at Moser Memorial Chapel in North Bend.
Memorials may be made to the Morse Bluff Volunteer Fire Department or the North Bend Library Foundation.

Pearl (Specht) Vasina, Morse Bluff, May 31, age 87
Pearl E. Vasina of Morse Bluff died May 31 in Fremont.
Pearl was born June 5, 1922, in Leigh to John and Lydia (Savers) Specht.
On March 9, 1943, Pearl married
Lumir Janecek in Omaha. In 1950 they opened Beno’s Shoe Shop in North Bend. Lumir passed away in 1957.
Pearl married
Albert Vasina on August 15, 1959, in Columbus. They made their home in Morse Bluff where Pearl was a homemaker. Albert died in 2005.
Pearl was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post #340 of Morse Bluff, VFW Auxiliary Post #8223 of North Bend and AmVets Post #20.
Survivors include a sister, Elsie Bayer of Howells, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was June 4 at Moser Memorial Chapel in North Bend. The Rev. Scott Jensen, Fremont Area Medical Center chaplain, officiated. Interment was at Killian cemetery near Morse Bluff.
Memorials are suggested to Killian cemetery and North Bend/Morse Bluff Area Veteran’s Memorial Park.
In lieu of sending thank you notes the family will make donations to various organizations.

Judith Webster, National City, Calif., May 20, age 70
Judith Jean Webster, formerly of North Bend, died May 20 at her home in National City, Calif., of congestive heart failure and complications from polymyositis and multiple sclerosis.
She was born April 11, 1940, in Grand Island, the daughter of James L. and LaJeanne (Carmody) Webster, who then were publishers of the St. Paul Phonograph weekly newspaper.
Judy graduated in 1958 from North Bend High School, where her family Obit dated the North Bend Eagle in 1951-56. She attended San Diego City College, Southwestern College and San Diego State University.
She was affiliated with the McMillin Companies, a San Diego developer and real estate firm, for 25 years, retiring in January 2010 as vice president of human resources.
Her marriage to the late Dan Blackston ended in divorce.
She is survived by daughter Bobbie Blackston Keeling of National City, son David Blackston of El Cajon, Calif., grandson Sam Blackston and brothers James C. Webster of Arlington, Va. and the Rev. Canon Daniel J. Webster of Baltimore, Md.

Rick D. Johnson, North Bend, May 20, age 47
Ricky D. Johnson died May 20, 2010, at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha.
R.J. was born Oct. 14, 1962, with his twin, Randy, (now deceased) to Raymond and Roberta Johnson in Fremont. He lived all his life in North Bend, graduating from North Bend Central High School in 1980. He was a graduate of Southeast Community College in Milford. R.J. farmed and worked part-time at Bob’s Custom Meats and Buresh Golf & Equipment.
R.J. was a member of First United Methodist Church in North Bend. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed bowling on Thursday night men’s league for many years in North Bend.
On Sept. 22, 1990, R.J. Married Leora Jurgens at North Bend.
Survivors include his wife, step-sons Michael (Tammy) Zvacek, of Fremont, and Matthew Zvacek of Lake Worth, Fla.; step-daughter Kelly Zvacek of Lake Villa, Ill.; mother Roberta Johnson of Fremont; brother Rodney (Diana) of Grand Island; and grandchildren Spencer and Courtney Zvacek.
The funeral was May 24 at First united Methodist Church in North Bend wit the Rev. Greg Hall officiating. Burial was at Woodland Cemetery.
Moser Memorial Chapel in North Bend was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested for the American Cancer Society.

Blanche (Chromy) Buchta, North Bend, May 18, age 94
Blanche A. Buchta of North Bend died May 18 at the Fremont Area Medical Center.
Blanche was born April 12, 1916, in Linwood to John and Anna (Codr) Chromy. She grew up in the Linwood area, attending a rural school.
On March 5, 1940, Blanche married
John Buchta in David City. He died Dec. 29, 1991. After their marriage, they moved to North Bend, where she worked for the Campbell’s Soup Company, The Corner Cafe and the Nebraska Ordnance Plant in Mead during WWII, while John was serving in the military. She later raised flowers, plants and vegetables and sold them from her home.
Survivors include son,Bob Buchta of Council Bluffs, Iowa; daughter Patsy Rice of Schuyler, and two grandchildren, Terry and Daryl Lanc, the latter a resident of North Bend.
The funeral service was May 22 at Moser Memorial Chapel in North Bend with Rev. Donald Cleary officiating. Internment was at Woodland cemetery in North Bend.
Memorials are suggested to Birchwood Manor in North Bend.

Ronald L. Swanson, Fremont, Dec. 31, age 73
Ronald L. Swanson of Fremont, died Dec. 31, 2011, at the Fremont Area Medical Center. He was born Aug. 15, 1938, to Leonard and Florice (Gantz) Swanson of Omaha.
Ronald grew up at Omaha. He served in the U.S.Navy Jan. 1956 to Jan. 1959. After his discharge, he returned to Omaha and worked with his father doing sheet metal work. Later he worked as a maintenance mechanic for various businesses in Omaha. He moved to Bay Cliff, Texas, in Nov. 2006 and returned to Nebraska in 2010 and settled in Fremont.
Ronald married
Virginia Rynazewski at Omaha. She died March 22, 2010.
He is survived by sons Michael Swanson, Scott Swanson both of Fremont, Mark Swanson of Scribner, and Shawn (Pam) Swanson of Bay Cliff, Texas; daughters Theresa Swanson of North Bend, Dawn Swanson of Omaha; sister, Nancy (Jack) Parsons of Omaha; 15 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Memorial Service is at 2 p.m. on Jan. 5 at Moser Memorial Chapel, Fremont with the Rev. Michael McGregor of First United Methodist Church in Fremont officiating. There is no viewing or visitation. The United States flag will be folded and presented by members of the Fremont Honor Guard of V.F.W.Post 854 and American Legion Post 20. Burial will be at Woodland cemetery in North Bend at a later date. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Roger A. Wilton, Superior, Dec. 30, age 68
Roger A. Wilton Sr., of Superior died Dec. 30 in Wathena, Kan. after a car crash.
Roger was born Feb. 11, 1943, in Superior to Clarence and Ila (Rogers) Wilton. Roger was a member of the class of 1961 at Superior High School. He marriage Elinor Lynn McFarland on June 18, 1963, in Superior. The couple lived their entire married
life on Lynn’s family farm in rural Superior. Roger and Lynn were the recipients of two Ak-Sar-Ben Pioneer Family Farm Awards. Roger also worked as a ringman for Gale Mikkelsen Real Estate and Auction, and raised purebred Norwegian Elkhound dogs.
Roger was a member of the Olive Hill Church in rural Kansas, where he served as a deacon, a trustee, and an usher. He was a founding member of the Borderline Tractor Pullers Association. Roger was a member of the Farmers Union, the Simic Roller-skating Rink Association, and the Jaycees.
Survivors include wife Lynn of Superior; daughter Shirley (Kragh) Johnson of Prague; son Roger (Kristen) Wilton, Jr. of Gresham; six grandchildren; brothers Harold (Lorna) Wilton of South Superior, Kan. and Gilbert (Roberta) Wilton of Denver, Colo.; and sister Colleen (Dewayne) Barleen of St. Paul.
Funeral services were held on Jan. 20 with interment at Bostwick cemetery in Superior.
In lieu of flowers the family has established a memorial fund.
