U.S., Obituary Collection, 1930-Current

Kenneth Stonum, 68
Kenneth Stonum, 68, of Newport, Ky., died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, North Covington, Ky.
Private services were Saturday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home in Ludlow, Ky. Burial was in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill, Ky.

Kenneth Stonum was the brother-in-law of Shirley and Derald Crom of Herman, Ruth and Don Tucker of Omaha and Beth and Bob Yost of Coleridge. He was a retired fleet service clerk with American Airlines. He had served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #153 and a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Newport, Ky.

Survivors also include his wife, Marilyn; sons Robert of Louisville, Ky., Ronald of Beavercreek, Ohio, Mark of Summerville, S.C., and Michael of Rapid City, S.D.; one daughter, Diane Kay Stonum of Cincinnati, Ohio; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Arnold Dey, 90
Arnold Carlos Dey, 90, of Elk Horn, Iowa, died Friday, Dec. 26, 1997, at the Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn.
Services were Dec. 30 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Walnut, Iowa. Rev. Don Schlesselman officiated. Burial was in the Fort Calhoun, Neb., Cemetery.

Arnold Carlos. Dey was born near Gresham, Neb., Sept. 27, 1907 to Louis and Anna Wulf Dey. While he was child, the family moved to the Fort Calhoun area. He attended school through the tenth grade at which time he quit to work on the family farm. On Feb. 3, 1940, he married Helen Krambeck at Omaha. They farmed in the Elk City, Neb., area until 1947 when they moved to the home farm near Fort Calhoun. He retired from farming and moved to Walnut in 1973. He had lived at the Salem Lutheran Home since 1995.

He was a founding member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and was active in the church, serving in various offices of the church.

Survivors are his wife, Helen Dey of Walnut; their daughter and son-in-law, Ardythe and Neal Smith of Walnut; grandchildren and spouse, Andrea and Jeff Kester of Minneapolis, Minn.; Clinton Smith, at college, and Regina Smith, Walnut; two sisters, Agnes Staben of Blair; Lucille Eggleston, Beaver Lake, Neb.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Marjorie Smith and Nadine Nord; and three brothers, Donald Dey, Carlos Dey and Harold Dey.

Pallbearers were Jeff Smith, Edwin Mills, John Eggleston, Wade Mills, Ken Smith and Larry Kock. Honorary bearers included Lester Thunn, Chuck McNew, Harvey Soll, Richard Burmeister, Richard Mester, John Sampson and Elmer Fischer.

Mrs. Wallace Pattee was organist. Ken Smith was soloist.

James DeSutter
James DeSutter, 67 James Joseph DeSutter, 67, of West Point, Neb., died Thursday, Jan. 1, 1998, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.

Services were Monday at Campbell - Aman Funeral Home. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery.

James Joseph. DeSutter was born Dec. 30, 1930, in Ghent, Minn., to Joseph and Yvonne DeSutter. He worked at West Point Implement from March 1977 until he retired in January 1996.

He was a member of the Tekamah Masonic Lodge No. 31 and Shriners.

He is survived by four children, Ralph of Phoenix, Ariz.; Ron of Blair; Rick of Marysville, Ohio and Randy of Blair; three brothers and one sister, Helen Farasyn of New Ulm, Minn.; Joe DeSutter of Barten, Colo.; Eddie DeSutter of Clarkfield, Minn. and Everet DeCrammer of New Ulm; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Edwin Nelson, 54
Edwin John Nelson, 54, died Friday, Jan. 2, 1998, at Sioux Falls, S.D.

Services were Monday at Campbell - Aman Funeral Home.

Edwin John Nelson was born March 7, 1943, in Chicago, Ill. to Edwin John and Adeline (Jacobson) Nelson. He was an insurance agent for Combined Insurance and later of Service Plus. He had lived in Blair, Iowa and most recently in the Sioux Falls area.

Survivors are two daughters, Kristin Nelson and Leslie Bridges, both of Charlotte, N.C.; sisters, Carolyn Simmons, Des Plaines, Ill. and Karen Pressney, Wauconda, Ill.; and a brother, Alan Bringel, Hampstead, N. H.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and an aunt, Emma Nelson.

Memorials may be given to Meals on Wheels of South Dakota, the Heart Association or the Diabetes Association.

Warren Loseke, 70
Warren A. Loseke, 70, died Monday, Dec. 29, 1997, in Raleigh, N.C.
Services were Friday at Mitchell Funeral Home in Raleigh.

Warren A. Loseke was born July 13, 1927. He graduated from Arlington, Nebraska, High School in 1945. At the end of World War II, after serving in the Navy, he attended Creighton University in Omaha, where he received his bachelor of science in chemistry degree in 1951. He then served in the Korean Conflict on the USS Bon Homme Richard. In 1953, he began his career with Quaker Oats in Omaha as a chemist. Later he moved to Forest Park, Ill. and worked for IIT Research Institute in Chicago. In 1971, he moved to Raleigh, where he worked with the Environmental Protection Agency in Research Triangle Park until retiring in 1996.

Survivors are his wife, Beverley; sons and daughters-in-law, Philip and Amy of Garner, N.C.; Russell and Beth of Greensboro, N.C.; Brian and Lisa of Cary, N.C.; and Kyle and Lisa of Plymouth, Mich.; four grandsons and one granddaughter.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of Wake County, 4513 Creedmoor Rd., Fourth Floor, Raleigh, N.C. 27612.

George Campbell, 82
George E. Campbell, 82, of Blair, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 1998, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Blair. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.

George E. Campbell was born Dec. 4, 1915, in Blair to J. E. and Blanche L. (Hoover) Campbell. He graduated form Blair High School in 1933. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. On Aug. 4, 1939, he married Harriett Wilson in Blair. He attended Mortuary Science School in Kansas City and was in business with his father. After his father's death, he continued in the business until retiring in 1978. He also worked for the postal department for 30 years, retiring from that job in 1974.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church and was a past member of the Blair Volunteer Fire Department. He was instrumental in the building of the present Blair Golf Club.

Survivors are his brother, J. H. Campbell, North Bend, Ore.; nephews and nieces, Ron and Connie Sylvis, Jim Campbell, Bob Wilson, Pam Gunlicks, Richard Vinton, Barbara Randall and Susie Stodola; grandnieces and grandnephews and special friends, Fred and Fran Aman and family and Craig and Ronna Saylor and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Harriett, in 1996; and a sister, Virginia Bauer.

Memorials may be directed to the Blair Rescue Squad.

Campbell - Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Charlotte Marshall, 95
Charlotte J. "Lottie; " Marshall, 95, of Arlington died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 1998, at Arbor Manor in Fremont.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Arlington Community Church. Dr. Charles V. Lee will officiate. Burial will be in the Arlington Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Reckmeyer - Moser Funeral Home Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Mrs. Marshall was born March 20, 1902, in rural Arlington to Fred and Katherine (Hartung) Heuerman. She grew up and lived in the Arlington area all her life. She moved into Arlington in 1966 and had lived at Arbor Manor in Fremont since January 1988. On Sept. 5, 1928, she married James O. Marshall at Marysville, Kan.

She was a member of Arlington Community Church and was a charter member of the church circle. She was also a member of the What - So - Ever Extension Club at Arlington.

Survivors are a son, W. J. "Jim; " Marshall of Gordonville, Tex.; two daughters, Jeanne Rosenbaum of Burnsville, Minn. and Beverly (Mrs. Roscoe) Osterman of Fremont; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers, Arthur Heuerman, Chet Heuerman and Fred Heuerman; seven sisters, Florence Heuerman, Martha Peterson, Elva McChesney, Edna Schmidt, Emma Smith, Lucille Mefford and an infant.

Pallbearers will be Randall Osterman, Terry Cheshier, Gary Hennen, Kirk Marshall, Fred Heuerman and Monnie Peterson.

Memorials may be given to the Arlington Community Church.
