Shirley Knight, 60
Shirley Mae Knight, 60, of Blair, died Monday, Feb. 16, 1998, at Memorial Community Hospital.
Services were Wednesday at First Christian Church. Rev. David Ludwick officiated. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery.
Shirley Mae. Knight was born Aug. 19, 1937, in Blair to Milford and Luzetta (Metzler) Campbell. On March 2, 1954, she married
Lloyd Keith Knight in Blair. She worked at Lacy 's Cafe, Dana College and for 21 years at Memorial Community Hospital. She was active with the Blair Share Program.
Survivors are her husband, Keith of Blair; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Kevin Pille of Herman; two grandchildren, Sarah Canterbury of Twenty Nine Palms, Calif. and Keith of St. Paul, Minn.; and a brother, Melvin Campbell of Blair.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Raymond Campbell.
Wilmer "Nick; " Japp, 73
Wilmer "Nick; " Japp, 73, of Kennard died Friday, Feb. 13, 1998, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.
Services were Monday at Grace United Methodist Church in Kennard. Burial was in the Kennard Cemetery.
Wilmer "Nick; ".; Japp attended the Kennard schools and farmed near Kennard for 50 years. The last 20 years he had lived in Kennard with his brother, Lester.
Survivors are two brothers, Lester of Kennard and August of Grand Island, Neb.; three sisters, Carrie Ensign and Ruby Wingate, both of Crystal Lake, Ill. and Elsie Thies of Joplin, Mo.

Erma M. Taylor, 83
Erma M. Taylor, 83, of Blair, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 1998, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Rev. Kenneth Jensen is officiating. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.
Erma M.. Taylor was born Dec. 24, 1914, on a farm west of Blair to James W. and Agnes (Andersen) Nielsen. She attended Brewster Grade School and Blair High School; and Dana College for two years. On Oct. 9, 1940, she married
Marlin Taylor at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Fremont. They lived in Ord, Neb., before moving to Blair in August of 1947. They were in the bakery business for 38 years and had a snack bar along with the bakery in Blair. They retired in 1980.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church, the Monday Afternoon Club and Christian Women's Club.
Survivors are her husband, Marlin of Blair; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judith and Merle Brower of Watertown, S.D. and Sharalynn and Lyle Joslin of Blair; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Maralee Taylor of Wahoo, Neb.; grandchildren. T. J. Taylor, Chrissa Lyn Taylor, Danielle Joi Taylor, Lindsay Marie Joslin and Hailey Lynn Joslin; one sister, Roma Randall of Omaha; and one brother, Lloyd J. Nielsen of Blair.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Darlene Gleeson.

John Beck, 72
John O. Beck, 72, of Arlington, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
Services were today at Reckmeyer - Moser Funeral Home in Arlington. Rev. Mark Grorud of First Lutheran Church in Fremont officiated. Burial was in the Arlington Cemetery.
John O. Beck was born Feb. 21, 1925, in Omaha to John and Frances (Mikkelsen) Beck. He grew up in Omaha and moved to the Arlington area in 1939 where he farmed until he retired.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Fremont.
Survivors are a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Rick Haman of Lincoln; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers were Wayne Wiley, Alan Pinkerton, Larry Voss, Bob Pfeiffer, Edgar Bohlmann, Dave Dines and Denny Decker.
Frances Jahnel, 89
Frances O. Jahnel, 89, of Fremont, died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Campbell - Aman Funeral Chapel in Blair. Burial will be in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.
Frances O. Jahnel was born Oct. 3, 1908, in Aurora, Neb., to Harrison and Bertha (Redmon) Fowler. She was a graduate of the LeMars, Iowa, High School. On Dec. 27, 1929, she married
Harry Jahnel in Iowa. They lived and farmed at Kennard, Arlington, Tekamah and Oakland in Nebraska. After they retired, they moved to Nye Square in Fremont. She had been a resident of Crowell Memorial Home for the past three years.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Lewis and Clark Chapter in Fremont.
Survivors are her husband, Harry, of Fremont; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mrs. Edna Fowler of San Diego, Calif.; Mrs. Floyd Fowler of Seattle, Wash.; Hazel Christiansen of Kennard; Walt and Ruth Jahnel of Tekamah and Robert Jahnel of Blair; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister and three brothers.
Garland Runyon, 74
Garland LeRoy Runyon, 74, of Sun City, Ariz., died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998, at Sun Healthcare Center.
Services were Jan. 27 at Menke Funeral Home in Sun City. Burial was in Sunland Memorial Park.
Garland LeRoy Runyon was born in Little Fork, Minn. He was owner of Blair Redi - Mix and co - owner or Runyon - Long Construction Company. He had served as a councilman while living in Blair. He moved to Sun City in 1986.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 21, American Legion Post No. 154, Eagles and the Shrine Tangier Temple in Omaha.
Survivors are his wife, Nellie of Sun City; son, Stephen R. Runyon of Peoria, Ariz.; a brother, Richard Runyon of Plymouth, Minn.; sisters, Myrna Peters of Shellknob, Mo. and Delores Bradach of Chishom, Minn.; and three grandchildren.
LaVerne Busch, 81
LaVerne Busch, 81, of Fremont died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, at the Fremont Area Medical Center.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont. Rev. Timothy Gierke and Rev. Art Hill will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Busch was born Dec. 16, 1916, near Winslow, Neb., to Charles and Pauline (Wittmann) Busch. He was baptized in the former St. Paul's Lutheran Church near Winslow. He was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church east of Winslow. He grew up on a farm in the Hooper/Winslow area, receiving his education in the Winslow School and the Immanuel Lutheran School. On Feb. 4, 1940, he married
Doris Hilgenkamp in the Immanuel Lutheran Church. They lived on different farms until moving to a farm east of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in 1953. They retired in 1988 and moved into Fremont.
He was a long-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he had served in various offices and on boards of the church. He was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont at the time of his death.
Survivors are his wife, Doris; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Norma Busch of Fremont; two daughters and a son-in-law, Carol and Don Meier of Hooper and Connie Busch of Lansdale, Penn.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a sister, Gretchen Mueller of Hooper.

Joan Grabow, 47
Joan Kay Grabow, 47 of Fort Calhoun died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, at Fort Calhoun.
There will be a memorial service at a later date in Leadville, Colo.
Joan Kay Grabow was born June 19, 1950, in Omaha to Paul E. and Agnes O. Mikulecky Grabow. She attended school at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln and Greeley Colorado and had bachelor of arts and master of arts degrees. She was a ceramics and fine arts teacher.
Survivors are a daughter, Serena Melville of Fort Calhoun; aunts and an uncle, Marie Stejsakl and Rose Paulson, both of Omaha; Alma Grabow of Canon City, Colo.; Marge and Curt Grabow of Omaha; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Becky Grabow of Fort Calhoun; his mother, Agnes Grabow of Fort Calhoun and four nieces.
She was preceded in death by her father, Paul and her grandparents.
