Dr. Harold Janzen, 78
Dr. Harold "Hal; " Janzen, 78, of Grand Island, died Thursday, March 5, 1998, at St. Francis Skilled Care Center.
Services were Monday at Kleine Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Denton R. Jantzi officiated. Burial was in Memorial cemetery in Fremont.
Dr. Janzen was born Sept. 20, 1919, at Buffalo, N.Y., to Rudolph and Florence (Ely) Janzen. As a young child he moved to Kansas City, Mo., He graduated from Paseo High School in 1938. He graduated from the Findley Engineering College, also in Kansas City. He served in the Army Air Corp. for 10 years, serving at the Battle of the Bulge in World War II and also served in the Korean Conflict. He graduated from the University of Nebraska Dental College in 1960 and practiced his profession for 23 years in Grand Island. On May 15, 1970, he married
Darline R. Sprick at Lincoln.
He had served as a volunteer dentist at Belitz, South America for a short time. He was also an artist. He was a member of the Rock and Jem Club, the Cosmopolitan Club, the Masonic Lodge and the Air Stream Camping Group.
Survivors are his wife, Darline of Grand Island; a daughter, Peggy Holtorf of Grand Island; a granddaughter, Heather Holtorf, all of Grand Island; a brother, Robert Janzen of Kansas City; and a sister, Sue Dagby of Springfield, Mo.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Walt and Rudy.
Roger "Mingers; " Matzen, 60
Roger L. "Mingers; " Matzen, 60, of Blair died Saturday, March 7, 1998, at Memorial Community Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Herman Legion Hall in Herman. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.
Mr. Matzen was born Jan. 22, 1938 in Blair to Otto and Georgia (Antill) Matzen. He graduated from Blair High School in 1955 and was a life - long resident of Blair. On April 22, 1960, he married
Mardell Webster in Blair. He was in the masonry business and did work for several contractors in the Blair area.
He was a member of the Herman American Legion.
Survivors are his wife, Mardell; a son, Roger, Jr., of Omaha, and daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Jesse Galvan of Bennington; two grandchildren, Nicholas Galvan and Katie Galvan; his mother, Georgia Matzen of Blair; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Liela Matzen of Blair and a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Bob Wachowicz of Phoenix, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his father, Otto and a brother, Ronald.

Lora Niebaum, 95
Lora I. Niebaum, 95, of Fremont died Sunday, March 8, 1998, at Arbor Manor Living Center in Fremont.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Salem Lutheran Church. Rev. Leland Uden will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery.
Lora I.. Niebaum was born Feb. 12, 1903, on the family farm near Admah, Neb., in Washington County to Henry and Emma (Neiderkroeger) Meier) . She grew up on the farm near the Vacoma area (west of Spiker in Washington County) where her family moved. She attended St. John Lutheran School at Vacoma and Midland Lutheran College in Fremont. On Dec. 30, 1931, she married
Lawrence H. Niebaum at Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont. They farmed for 32 years southeast of Fontanelle. In December 1963, they retired and moved into Fremont.
She had been a member of Salem Lutheran Church since 1936; Lutheran Church women, the Fontanelle Garden and Study Club and the County Extension Club.
Survivors are two sons, Dr. Maurice Niebaum and Dr. Lowell Niebaum, both of Las Vegas, Nev.; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence on July 22, 1994.
Memorials may be given to the Salem Lutheran Church.

Jessie Snow, 97
Jessie Chloe Palmer Snow, 97, died Saturday, March 7, 1998, at the Oakland Heights Nursing Center in Oakland.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah. Rev. Dawn Flink Silvius is officiating. Burial will be in the Tekamah Cemetery.
Mrs. Snow was born Aug. 7, 1900, the second oldest of 11 children, to Dooley E. and Leslie Odell Palmer in Lebanon, Mo. She worked in her father's general store and post office in Russ, Mo., as a young girl. On Sept. 19, 1919, she married
Everett Snow in Lebanon. They moved to Burt county where they farmed in the Arizona area northeast of Tekamah. In 1945, they moved to a farm in the Silver Creek Township
She attended church at Arizona, while living in that area, and taught the Adult Sunday School class. She was baptized in the Missouri River. After moving to Silver Creek, she attended Silver Creek Baptist Church and later Riverside Baptist Church where she again taught Sunday School, played the piano and was active in the Women's Mission Circle. On Dec. 28, 1986, she became a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Tekamah.
Survivors are daughters, Deloris Fleischman of Oakland; Delena (Mrs. Harold) Williams of Tekamah; and Cleo Gordon of Omaha, sons an daughter-in-law, Duane Snow of Blair and Lyle and Judy Snow of Tekamah; 14 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Hugh Palmer, Dooley Palmer and Lloyd Palmer, all of Lebanon; and one sister, Hester Grace of Tavares, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother; five sisters; a great-grandson and four sons-in-law.

Mary J. Hoffman, 85
Mary J. Hoffman, 85, of rural Fremont, died Tuesday, March 3, 1998, at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at the Arlington Community Church. Rev. Charles Lee will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge cemetery at Fremont.
Mrs. Hoffman was born May 26, 1912, on the family farm east of Fremont to George and Elizabeth (Eicke) Haney. She grew up there. On Jan. 10, 1934, she married
Everette L. Hoffman in Papillion, Neb. She had lived in several Dodge County communities, but most of them near Fremont. She had been an employee of Memorial Hospital of Dodge County for several years.
She was a member of the Arlington Community Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post. No. 8332 's Auxiliary at Arlington and the Northside Happy Hour Club.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Ken and Sandra Hoffman of Breda, Iowa; Robert Hoffman of Fremont; Rodney and Linda Hoffman of Mesa, Ariz. and Lawrence Hoffman of Mesa; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Vera Haney of Fremont; Alice and John Delaney of Fremont; Lillian and Ron Duncan of Spring Valley, Calif.; and a brother and sister-in-law, George and Ellen Haney of Fremont.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Everette, in February 1961; a grandchildren; two brothers and a sister.
Memorials may be given to the Nebraska Kidney Foundation.

Lois (Pinneo) Crane, 62
Lois (Pinneo) Crane, 62, of Nora Springs, Iowa and formerly of Omaha, died Monday, March 2, 1998, in Mason City, Iowa.
Graveside services were Wednesday at Forest Lawn cemetery in Omaha.
Lois (Pinneo) Crane was born Sept. 11, 1935, in Omaha to Joseph and Viola (Hiatt) Pinneo. She attended school in Omaha and worked as a secretary in a business office.
Survivors are her four children, Ronald Hoefling, Thomas Hoefling, Sally Kennedy, all of Iowa; and Teresa Tunender of Ainsworth, Neb.; sisters, Shirley Christensen of Indianapolis, Ind.; and Shirley Mae Gillespie of Arizona and a brother, Donald Pinneo of Omaha.

Ronald Tuccitto, 54
Ronald M. Tuccitto, 54, of Omaha, died Friday, Feb. 27, 1998, near U.S. Highway 370 and Interstate 80, near Gretna, as a result of a vehicle accident.
Services were Tuesday at Brewer - Korisko Chapel in Omaha. Rev. Sodoro officiated. Burial was in St. John's cemetery in Omaha.
Ronald M. Tuccitto was born Sept. 17, 1943, at Omaha. He was raised in Omaha and graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He married
Evelyn Hospodka. He worked for more than 30 years for Union Pacific. After his retirement, he worked for the state of Nebraska. He was a pioneer in Midwest rock and roll music, founding some of Omaha's first rock bands in 1956. He performed locally for more than 15 years with his band, "The; Mob" which at the present time included Mike Semrad and Jeff Forsberg of Fremont and George Bryan of Omaha.
Survivors are his wife, Evelyn; two sons and a daughter - in - law, Ronald Tuccitto and Matthew and Adora Stone, all of Omaha; a daughter and son - in - law, Lisa and Jay Anderson of Blair; his mother, Elizabeth Tuccitto of Omaha; two brothers and sisters - in - law, Dick and Barb Tuccitto and Ross and Debbie Tuccitto, all of Omaha and three grandchildren.
Alice Bohling, 93
Alice Hansen Bohling, 93, of Fremont died Monday, March 2, 1998, at Arbor Manor in Fremont.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont. Rev. Timothy Gierke will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial cemetery at Fremont.
Visitation will be at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and at the church Friday morning for an hour before service time.
Alice Hansen Bohling was born May 8, 1904, on the family farm near Arlington to Henry and Mary (Hartung) Plugge. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church north of Arlington. She moved to Fremont in 1921 with her parents. On Aug. 26, 1928, she married
Edward T. Hansen in Pender, Neb. They farmed north of Ames until retiring and moving into Fremont in 1967. On Jan. 5, 1979, she married
Otto Bohling in Fremont. They lived in Fremont until she became a resident of Arbor Manor in Aug. 1992.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and was a former member of the Lutheran Women's League. She had also been very active in the Fremont Women's Bowling League.
Survivors include her husband, Otto; a daughter, Betty (Mrs. Gerald) Vondenkamp of Arlington; a son, Gerald (wife De) Hansen of Fremont; two step - sons, Gerald (wife Marilyn) Bohling and Kermit (wife Suzie) Bohling, all of rural Hooper; 14 grandchildren; six step - grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and two step - great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward, who died in November 1971; a daughter, Dorothy Stratton, a sister and five brothers.
